Why is Chrome such a RAM hog? What browsers perform similarly without the extreme memory usage?
>>60662589
I switched to Qupzilla.
>>60662589
Chrome is the best just deal with it. Get 16gb of RAM like a normal human being without autism in 2017

What the fuck would you even need 18 cores for? What in the name of Satan could you possibly do with that?

OLD THREAD

It is impossible to use Firefox with an SSD - it's so slow and unresponsive with the latest version.
Chrome works like a charm, but i don't want to switch to it. Maybe there are some ways to optimize FF for usage with SSDs? Thanks.
>>60662031
>not storing all tabs in RAM
using an SSD for cache is literally asking for it to die
>>60662222
Not using ssd for cache is the same as not using ssd at all, fucking retard
>>60662318
Then why the fuck did you buy an SSD?
Even if you have fucking 500 tabs open in Firefox it's only going to use like 4GB, no reason to use cache.
Asus Teases 5GHz Overclocks For AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper CPUs

It's ogre. ANUDDAH SHOAH!
>>60662022
This is guaranteed to be some LN2 nonsense, if it's anything at all.
The Donald Trump of tech sites says so!
Fuck off.
14nm LPP just can't do high clocks
is amd a good meme to adopt if you've bought intel all your life?
a part of my brain still thinks amd chips can't run certain programs
is intel and amd basically interchangeable at this point?
>>60661967
Intel still has about 25% single core advantage in their top end i7-7700K. Other than that, Ryzen 1600 or 1600X are very good buys over pretty much everything else Intel has to offer.
>>60662017
This guy is correct. Support AMD, they're the only player left to fight the evil greedy Jews of Intel
>>60661967
AMD can do everything Intel can at this point given how standardised everything has become. Not only that, but with their multi core performances rising above Intel, more and more support is coming their way.
t. Intel user seriously considering Ryzen as an upgrade from my G4560

Just graduated guys and I am freaking out over getting my first entry level IT job. Any advice so I don't fuck up? What are some things I should make sure I know so I don't look like an idiot? Basically any advice helps.
>>60661583
Sure, what did you major in?
>>60661595
Just got my AA in cybersecurity(I know a meme). Planning on continuing to an online 4 year but I want to quit retail and start getting experience. Wondering if I even have a chance or should try to get some certs first.
>>60661614
Just go to a job agency and get some crappy part time (maybe full time if you're lucky) temp works.
Pay will be higher than retail and you can list experience.
what are your thoughts on VeraCrypt?
Nah. LUKS is fine.
Probably don't even bother trying to keep any information safe on Windows.
Bad license.
I have no idea why these idiots insisted on creating a licensing issue when tc-play exists and is 100% compatible with TrueCrypt. Slap a Windows / OS X / iOS / Android GUI on tc-play and you got a universal TrueCrypt alternative with a BSD license that can be distributed by everybody.
With the TrueCrypt license, it's not even clear VeraCrypt are allowed to distribute their own software.
>Not using Bitlocker with TPM 2.0
Get a fucking Windows 10 Pro License faggot.

I urgently need to encrypt highly sensitive files. Preferably in containers. Is there anything better than VeraCrypt?
>>60660658
veracrypt and dm-crypt/LUKS are more geared towards file system encryption. you can encrypt filesystems as files with loop devices on linux.
i would just use tar and GnuPG instead. remember to compress and then encrypt, since you can't compress a file after its been encrypted and all patterns removed.
Just use 7zip m8, AES is as secure as it comes in terms of password encryption.

Call security all you want. You'll be dead before they arrive and I'll be long gone.
