Intel still has about 25% single core advantage in their top end i7-7700K. Other than that, Ryzen 1600 or 1600X are very good buys over pretty much everything else Intel has to offer.

If you play games Phenom II's and FX chips still occasionally have issues running stuff. I'm not sure if Ryzen has compatibility issues or not with some games, in theory it shouldn't. It was shit for VM's at launch though, not sure if that's improved at all.
