Can we get a diabolik thread going. Anything really- recs, favorite runs or eras. Favorite art etc. Any cool thematic stuff in here thats worth talking about?
If only all (or at least a good 50%) of D-related comics were available in English. I know that Italian publishers did some partnership deals with the U.S. Ones, but it didn't get anywhere and the ultimate result is only a limited amount of Diabolik comics translated and sold across the states.
Btw, Milan (Italy) has an extraordinary Diabolik exhibition going on, that is filled with collectors items, rare issues, interactive content and big displays/statues of D, Eva and Ginko, not to mention awesome props from Bava's iconic film and Fox Kids animated series.
If you will be in Milan from July till September, you should def. visit the exhibition in WOW Spazzio Fumetti museum (all the WB DC Heroes exhibitions in Burbank cannot compete with this one, that's for sure).
And the fact that they cannot get that new TV show off the ground, starting from 2012, is real sad. The teaser trailer was pretty neat, but I guess some UK (Sky) execs had problem with the pilot episode and, according to some sources, will try to shoot some more stuff in 2017, which is still a long time to go...

So, Bill Watterson
Was he right or was he just an asshole?
He always fought with the syndacate to get more creative freedom and not to allow merchandising of Calvin&Hobbes, and to a point he was right, it was his own creation and he didn't want to see it bastardized in soulless mass-produced merch; just look at the way Garfield went, it does make sense that he wanted C&H to continue, develop and end on his own terms, without compromising his ideals or those of his comic
On the other hand, he was kind of an asshole about it, preaching this high moral ground like all of the other cartoonists (including Charles M. Schulz, the author of Peanuts, with whom he was friends) were morons and sellouts, and denying his fanbase -most of which was composed of children- any kind of harmless and pre-approved toy; rumors have that he even went as far as burning a stuffed Hobbes that a fan stitched on her own and sent him as a gift

Post a source for any of this
Seeing what his net worth is, I'd say he was right.
The man is still alive and your average kid on the street today probably knows about as much about Calvin and Hobbes as they do about Krazy Kat.
If they know anything at all, it's Calvin pissing on things in rear window stickers.
>people bitch about the artstyle from the Unreadable Squirrel Girl all day
>people somehow don't have a problem with the shitty artstyle of shows like Rick and Morty
>>84611542
because R&M's humor matches it's style. R&M is disgusting and raunchy. Squirrel Girl is just an average teen drama with terrible faces.
>>84611542
people bitch about R&M's style all the time

Reminder that there are people out there who think that Summer is sexy.
My life is a mess so I'm going to ignore my problems like most people and watch a movie. I've see a majority of comic movies. I bare lay remember the Chris Reeves superman so it'll be like my first time seeing it, and still haven't seen Batman V Superman. What should I watch? Does the Chris Reeves superman hold up, or does it look like shit? Discuss, also I asked /co/ bc I didn't trust /tv/ with such a question.

Btw fucked up my hand in a drunk bike accident which is why the post is riddled with grammar and autocorrect changes.
>>84611569
Look I get that the original changed movies and has a huge influence, but as far as wanting to watch a film based purely off of entertainment purposes what should I watch today? I know Superman is the better movie
I have a question, /co/.
What is the best Pixar movie and why is it WALL-E?
They managed to make me care about a romance between to inanimate objects that barely have any line of dialogue.
People who don't like the movie just don't like the second half with the people and the ship but I didn't mind. Some people also say they push the "save the environmental" message to hard but I disagree, I thought it was well handled as it was mostly a side plot of the humans wanting to go home while the main story throughout was still ultimately about Wall.E and Eve's romance.

There's a great big world out there.
Can we have another Tank Girl thread?
Last thread if anyone gives a shit: >>84571070
Only if you admit the movie was OK.
A solid 6.5/10
I really don't like the super scribby lazy ass look that was in the last book (21st Century Tank Girl)
Skimarks, books 1,2,3, are all super fucking fun and vibrant then 21st is just some of the laziest looking shite.
Spider-man
Batman
The flash
They each have pretty formidable rogues galleries. But what if all the villains of each Hero banded together into three big groups. Which of those groups would win in a fight with the others.
Not a three way free for all but if each group fought the second and then the third.
Some basic rules. Gotta be a noted villain of that hero. Not just someone they fought once during a fight In a team book.
Also it's just the rogues....NOT the rogues and all their henchman. So know league of assassins, it'd just be ras and talia.
Seriously though who hasn't he toughest group of rogues.
Well...that was supposed to be a picture of a bunch of spiderman villains...instead it's genis vell.
Not related but he's still pretty cool I guess
Sandman, Hydroman, and Electro sweep everybody. Spider-Man's rogues take it.
Unless you're counting Professor Zoom. Or any Reverse Flash, really. Because then they would win easily

Marvel is receiving well deserved backlash at their heavy-handed approach to diversity and as a Black man myself, I agree with the dissenters. Not because I oppose of a diversity push, (although I'm not a fan of affirmative action applied to the arts) but because almost all of the characters that are made because of the mandates are boring and safe as shit. America's PC/SJW culture prevents anything interesting being made without triggering someone.
Most stereotypes exist because there are people out there that fit them. In a world filled to the brim with magical artifacts, mad science and alien technology, ALL happening in metropolitan cities btw, why is it that no one but the tamest of ANY race, White included, get superpowers or fall into situations that place them in contact with the supernatural? Garth Ennis' The Pro and McDuffie's Milestone universe are examples of the kinds of situations we don't see in comics anymore that would statistically happen a lot. Although The Pro was satire, the concept was unique and interesting. If you're going to push diversity, diversify the character archetypes you are willing to portray.

>The "Somewhat stoic black male"
>>84610722
Good point. It is pretty clear that Marvel once had a mandate that all characters have flaws regardless of skin color that they have long since abandoned.
I love how realistic this new take on the little mermaid is. Do you know that sailors used to mistake sea manatees for mermaids?

I'd like conclusion to the shit with the Metalocalypse itself even if it was only a concept album and a few comic pages to go with it.
Also can this be a Metalocalypse thread? I haven't seen a good one in so long.
Looks like Deadshot is first:

Guessing they'll do one of these every day leading up to release.
>>84610202
So... boomerang trailer when?
We could argue for hours over who has the best rogues gallery between Batman, Spider-Man, and The Flash, but what about the other side?
What character has the absolute worst and most pathetic rogues gallery?
>>84610245
>But muh badass New 52 Aquaman!
Aquaman fans always seem to have the biggest inferiority complex.

Green Arrow
The guy has a rouge gallery so lame that he always barrows batman's rouges
