Empty Hand is the opposite of the hand of creation, I think.

The hand of creation was shown in CoIE to actually be the Anti-Monitor reaching into the point of creation and the Spectre pulling him out. The image of the hand is more metaphorical than literal.

The DCU runs off of readers' expectations for narratives. We get superheroes saving the day because we want to read about superheroes saving the day.

The Empty Hand represents what happens when we start artificially keeping those stories going when they are not fulfilling that positive purpose. When readers start craving the conflict of a story with no resolution, then the Gentry are allowed to flourish, and the Empty Hand follows.

People are going to say no, that it's shit, and then whine about Specatular.
Or people will say "it gets better" and then other people will say "even if it gets better; trash is still trash", and then whine about Spectacular.
In any case, you really shouldn't expect anything spectacular or mighty, but it's alright if you go into it solely expecting it to be a kids show. And, I mean, people will go back with "But being a kid's show doesn't excuse it being shit", but, still. It's just fine.
Anyway, it gets better in season 2, gets pretty cool in season 3, and I haven't enjoyed season 4.

It feels like it isn't a string of episodes with just an overarching, vague plot anymore. Now it is a full fledged connected show like the past 2 seasons of South Park, with worse execution

Regular Show jumped the shark in the first episode. The original formula was jumping the shark in every episode.

Doing the whole "ordinary thing turns into something crah-zey" thing got old and stale and their attempts to diverge from the formula were either halfhearted or badly planned. I didn't mind the writers attempt at moving forward with relationship arcs, the problem was they were strung out and lead nowhere. They also exhausted the characters more emotive sides so they all eventually got blander (except for Thomas who had all the personality of a dishrag). Rigby, Muscleman & Benson change from being especially emotive to becoming significantly toned down. Some fans attribute these changes to 'growing up', but frankly it seems to me as if the writers just got bored of writing them.
