Sup /biz/ I'm a first year Applied Mathematics student in Europe, I'm getting good grades and by the summer I should be able to numerically solve basic differential equations in MATLAB, code in Java and Python, and know basic probability theory.

Does anyone have ideas for a summer internship? I don't know whether I can be useful to any company right now, but I really want to do an internship.

Also share your summer internship experiences ITT.

I want to start out in Europe, and eventually work my way up to large American companies, doing a summer internship every year.
>>
What country are you in?

You've left it extremely late if you want to start applying for internships for this summer, also most internships want you to be in your 2nd year of studies going into third year and don't really offer internships to first year students.

Look on ratemyplacement in about 6 months there will be loads advertised on there.

Robotic Prosthetics are very good nowadays. If you´re rich you can just buy yourself a pair.
Plus you get to be a cyborg.

When backing a political candidate, what do banks expect from them when they succeed?

If they expect anything, why, then, would banks back a democratic candidate?

It's simple

>Fund politicians campaign on the grounds they will do whatever you ask
>They do it
>>
>>1103848

What if they just renege afterward or otherwise do not do what you want them to do?

It's not as if the money is anything but a gift. It could just be pissing money away that could be better spent on investments.
>>
>>1103852
I'm sure there are terms and conditions to accepting the money and they would definitely have ways to make sure they can't just turn on them before they invest tens of millions of dollars into their campaign, but I have no idea how exactly.

In america, is college really the best choice in having a successful life where you can afford to have a few children and a happy wife?

>>
Yes it is.

It's the easiest and just off guaranteed path to a middle class salary and lifestyle.

Depends what you're studying though of course.
>>
>>1102005
Depends what kind of person you are. Some people can make it without school but they are very rare. If you aren't exceptional I would just stick with the school then 9 to 5 life.
>>
>>1102005
Yes. Unless you start your own business which usually means college anyways and takes a lot of mental stress out on you and your family and they will start to resent you because you arent home that much and you'll promise you'll be better but you know its a lie because the business is hurting and you have clients that ask too much and dont pay enough but they are the only clients you have so yoh have to do whaf they say and it takes its toll on your pocketbook and makes you work extra hours making your kids cry and need therapy and your bitch wife just yells at you and tells you you're worthless and won't amount to anything so you shouldn't even try but its the only thing you ever do is try so you start drinking heavily and your wife and kids leave to you and take half of the business and take the house so you are drunk weeping in a shitty motel with no money no degree and no business until you eventually suck on the end of a shotgun and end it all

Go to college.

Hey guys, I really need some input.

So, I'm a freshman second semester studying aerospace engineering and I have been thinking about switching my major to Economics with Prelaw (it has additional courses).

I'm just wondering if the real world looks favorably upon economists? I'm also planning on doing ROTC and joining the military after college, then apply for the Foreign Service in the State Department.

BUT, if that doesn't work out how would my experience in the military and my economics degree hold in the job market?

Also, if you can, tell me about majoring in economics in general.

Thinking about taking an investment risk associated with purchasing some real estate with the intentions of rent out. A little backstory, I live in the dorms at an air force base in Florida. Someone that also lives in the dorms that I'm pretty good friends with just got married to a civilian who will be joining the air force in a couple of months. I was just looking at some property in the area and randomly this person that just got married knocked on my door, came in and saw that I was looking at houses/property in the area and asked what I was doing looking at that. I explained I'm looking for some houses I could buy and rent out to people, he said that if I got a house he would rent it out from me. To me this sounds like the dream, I have someone that more or less will rent from me, all I need is a house that they agree on living in. I have no problem taking the risk associated with buying the house considering that I know they will be living in it / renting it for the next couple of years, and I will do my research to make sure the house I do end up buying isn't a shitter and a money dump. I'm going to contact a realtor tomorrow and explain the situation. The question I come here to ask is, I only have 1,000 saved right now, and by the time it'll be time for them to move into a house (6 months) I'll have around 5-6k saved. Do you think I have enough money for financing? or should I just wait for another opportunity? The area is Panama City/ Panama City Beach if anyone is wondering.

damn nigger, why write out all that shit when only the last 3 lines have anything useful in them?

1k is nothing as far as property goes even if you live in bum fuck nowhere. also the less you put down, the higher your monthly payments, and on top of that if you don't put down 20% you have to pay PMI. what this translates to is that your profit from the property will take a hit. it's pretty obvious that you did zero research, so i'm not going to go any further other than telling you not to get conned by whatever broker you contact. they don't give a shit about getting you the best deal, but rather about selling the most expensive property as fast as they can.
>>
>The median sales price for homes in Panama City Beach for Sep 17 to Dec 16 was $193,000
You should be aiming for 20% down, not 2.5%.
>>
>>1105011
Yeah I was looking more in the panama city area just north, northwest of Tyndall. The house around there 40k+, my friend got a foreclosed house for 25 and is now selling it for 100. I don't have the fucking downs, I know that I'm not going into it with a lot of money. I was just wondering if I should just take the opportunity with more or less a guaranteed renter or just wait until I save more.

>earning 3 cents interest monthly on my savings account
there has to be something else I can do with my money. I appreciate my bank being conservative before/during 2008 but this is getting silly, I've got $1500 just devaluing with every passing minute.
Currently signed on for a 0.020% interest rate

What does /biz/ recommend I do with this money?

Get ready for the great unwinding of the global monetary system again, these unwinding cycles will start happening frequently from here on out as resource wars start breaking out and a large depopulation follows. 8 billion top predator monkeys, not enough bananas. They are already talking about negative interest rates and a handful of nations have implemented them already, Japan, Switzerland and a few others.

I hear tell they can do this because little people can no longer run to paper money so easily in the digital world. Should be some epic carnage in the 21st century.

you know the answer to this lad. the time has come to take a break from smoking, at least until you get that job. if randoms are a possibility then it may be time to give it up for good. your career is nothing to dick around with and in a lot of industries, your reputation will precede you. best of luck to you and here's to ending prohibition
>>

You should stop smoking pot. It's a waste of money that should only be indulged in during the early years of college. Give it to a friend who you owe a favor.

Don't do drugs again until you can afford blow.
