Why don't PhD:s hold the same weight in the business world as it does in other fields? If you take Economics, Statistics, Engineering... having a PhD gives you an extra needed edge to even be taken seriously.
But in the business world the most extreme cases are positions that require the applicant to have an MBA. Never have I seen anyone even caring if the applicant has a PhD. Why is it like this in business?

OK lads, /pol/ here. Looking forward to the brexit but I fully accept that there will likely be a large hit to GBP. Since we have a maniac chancellor who will also probably try to print his way to prosperity I am not feeling too safe about my finances.
City economists predict a potential 20% fall in the value of the pound, I have about £30,000 savings. I have £15k in a tax free savings account at 1.1% monthly interest. Providing interest rates stay the same then that should cushion the impact a fair amount. But for the other £15,000 I would like to hedge in USD since there are no other attractive savings accounts that might cushion the impact like the one I have (already deposited the maximum). What I want to know (since I havn't the foggiest of ideas) is how to buy USD for the lowest premium spread (if thats what you call it) and whats the best way to do it.
I don't want to be a yolo day trader, I don't want any more gold, I certainly don't want paper gold shit. (i may look at bitcoin but dont try to meme me to buy 11ks worth cause i wont)
I just want to hedge £15,000 in USD. If any one here has any advice on which is the best way to go about that I'd be thankful.

I know a way to make min $30 a day. This is more than my father who has 37 years of experience working as a civil engineer for the government makes. It only requires 3-4 hours of work a day. I want to do this but I also want to follow my passion of writing and don't want to give up my hobbies of gaming and watching movies/TV shows. I know I sound lazy but I'm really fucked in the head and haven't been outside my house for 4months (the longest time I spent inside was 6years) I'm 22btw. My dad keeps bitching on my to make money. Should I give up my dreams/hobbies and work and become even more depressed? Or should I wait for another year and complete my book and publish it? I already have an agent who said he is interested in my book BTW so it will surely sell at least a little.

Depends on your focus. Economics overall is defined as "managing unlimited wants in a world with limited resources" and from there you get the macro/micro distinction and how modern humans manage their time/capital.
Going to school for econ taught me that the degree itself is intrinsically worthless. It is a signal that may or may not tell an employer to hire you over someone who doesn't have a degree. If that other person has a portfolio, you can eat your degree and fuck off.
Oh yeah, don't go into debt for an econ degree. I didn't and I'm glad because I would have to have been an idiot otherwise. If you can't afford school, go to lectures (don't enroll, just sit-in) and learn the shit without the credential.
It is about managing time... Econ... Managing precious time...

Hello all.
I'm enrolled in a chemical engineering program at a university with 99% job placement. The average pay of those who graduate from this school in my field is $73,000 a year. The school is expensive, but I have a full ride scholarship.
Problem is, I fucking hate it. I hate these classes, these bitch ass nerd students. I hate grinding 60 hours a week for a degree in a field I don't give a rat's ass about.
What I enjoy is building things. Not designing them. But I'm not sure if dropping out and going to trade school is worth it, or if I should just bite the bullet and finish school.
Thoughts?

hi /biz/
my mother passed away this and fortunately for me she left a decent amount of money so I wouldn't be scrimping and scrapping for my life. she wanted me to not just get by so she set up a decent life insurance policy and had her house.
If i get the amount I believe I get initially I will have a decent amount of cash to invest my inheritance. Ideally I would like to invest in property because the housing market here is so ridiculous that this will be the only chance I had to have a sizable down payment/ out right buy a condo/ townhouse. I will hopefully inherit more when my step father dies as it is all suppose to go to me in the end, but who knows what will happen in the future he's still has a chance to have another life and change his will.
Now I dont make much right now around $30k. I am aiming to be up towards $50k+ by the end of the year so i can make a mortgage payment.
Would it be wise to invest the money in property? I would like to have a condo paid for outright and rent it out to pay off a mortgage on a phase 1 townhouse.
do you think any of this is conceivable?

They say to always have more than one source of income. I work about 70 hours a week selling cars. I was doing uber/lyft on the side for fun and to pay for the insurance on the car. I decided its not really worth the miles on my new car. I open to suggestions about getting a second source of income what do you guys suggest?

But to answer your questions, you could get your real estate license. It would probs be easy to sell a home here or there.
