metamask is a light client I've used a few times and it seems to work - https://metamask.io/

yeah myetherwallet will do the job and you don't have to download a client if its just one time use...

just make sure that if you withdraw from exchange to create a new cold wallet and dont use the "old" one.

Exodus is neat, definitly have a look at it. Metamask is a chrome extension also easy to use. No experience with parity but seems to be great for ICOs if you want to send at a certain block.
