Let's talk about The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild. I don't think it really deserves a 97 and here's why
>extremely limited enemy variety. there are bokoblins, moblins, lizalfos, lynels, chuchus, octorocs, guardians, flying robes, plebbits, hinox, yinga. they come in different elemental variants but that's about it. for a game of that size having enemy types you can count on two hands is disappointing.
>the story is 1980 tier. here is your hero who saves the world. most characters are as flat as paper and especially zelda and ganon are not developed at all.
>the game has some comfy music, but it is not memorable. i don't go on youtube and search for botw music because it is not interesting enough.
>shrines. there are 120 shrines, but only 30 or so are interesting. 30 shrines are opened through extremely simple puzzles, 30 shrines are a test of strength (repetitive as hell) and 30 shrines are just plain shit you can solve in under 2 minutes. the main dungeons are repetitive as hell
>wildlife is underdeveloped: some animals attack you but it never becomes a real fight
>combat mechanics are absolutely awful and allow for overpowered combos. they are also way too easy and simple coming from games like dark souls 3 and bloodborne i was immensly dissapointed
>framerate issues in the most beautiful area of the game: korok forest and lost woods
>weapon breakage is an extremely poor design choice
I would give this game a 75-82 but never ever does it deserve a 97. What is wrong with gaming journalism?

Bitches lately are super enthusiastic about the fact more main characters are being portrayed by females, and while I agree if done properly it's a refreshing change, I believe what games and specially RPGs could use are female antagonists. Everyone can write Flat Personality Heroine/Improvised Lesbian Bimbo or Spiky Hair No Brains Hero/Bald Spees Muhreen, but when an antagonist is memorable, it far outshines the main character role.
TL:DR;
What are some games with cool female antagonists? Not Dragon Age 2 shit tier of "lmao suddenly Meredith", but actual game-long antagonistic figures.
Kujas need not apply, even if close to the mark by all accounts.
