Let's see. Graphically, a halfway decent computer could do a better "HD treatment" with Dolphin than on the Wii U. But the official TWHD streamlines quests like Agitha's and has the Amiibo Wolf Link that can be leveled up and brought to Breath of the Wild. It's really just a matter of tastes.

Hey guys, having trouble deciding what to do. I've been saving up for the past 2 years and I finally have enough to get a nextgen console, but I'm not sure what to get.
MntDew's Xbox Project Cool Ranchâ„¢ has the most games, but its cloud based distribution system might be too much for my data, I can barely afford my current plan as it is, and the soft drink based authentication feature might be too much for my insulin dosage, my buddy has it and he says he has to drink at least 15 cans before he can finish a session.
PS∞ does have the best exclusives, but I'm still $2200 short of being able to afford the GODLORDeLITE addition, and let's face it, getting the basic one is just a waste, I don't think I can handle being locked into 15 FPS, I'd rather have the ~25, I might be able to get a loan for it.
Has anyone been through the procedure for the new Nintendo's Pokemon Perma-AU implants? Are they that much of an upgrade from the Super Mario ones?
I mean, I would just go PC, WoW's latest expansion just came out, but other than that, PC gaming is dying.
What should I do?

I have just finished my first year studying Computer Science, and have come to realize I don't want to do some trivial programming. I considered a Games and Animation degree, but an art degree at a University price does not sit well with me.
I'll have my technical expertise to fall back on, but how can I go about self-learning game design and development? My programming capabilities are just now developing, but I've always had a knack for appreciating and understanding games of all types as well as the industry to a slight extent.
Would anyone care to recommend a proper game engine to practice developing in? If there is any jargon to the types of methods people go about developing games (for example, what is the difference between a GDK/Game Engine?) , I'd love to hear some of your input.
Also, if anyone has some resources that they think I could find useful I'd love some direction! Next semester I'm going to hang around with some people in the Games and Animation program at my school so I can get some pointers and make some friends, but I'd really like to spend my time this summer pursuing my passion, maybe somebody can shoot me a contact and share some experience!
Sorry for making this post.
