I watched both seasons of this show and was disappointed when there wasn't a third.

The warring states and conspiracy autism was starting to get long in the tooth. It was a decent show for the two seasons it lasted but I bet the third would have been tedious.

This along with Firefly are constantly mentioned as underrated

That one in particular is better than the movie, but still not really faithful 100%. I think it's stupid that they call it frank herberts dune when they change so many details of the books that don't even fuck with the pacing, like characters being in scenes that they weren't in in the books, characters having different details about them that weren't in the books, etc.

Watching through it right now. It's the only decent dune adaptation, but it could've done better, and I'm not referring to it's absolutely abhorrent cgi

Lynch's Dune was close to the book until the ending he was forced to film, and not as shitty as the miniseries.
Go for the Alternative Edition Redux fanedit for the best Dune adaptation. It includes the ending Lynch wanted, which happened to be the book's.

DeLaurentis/Lynch, the two-parter version is great for the atmopshere and depictions of the esoteric aspects of the universe, like the Bene Gesserits, Mentats, and Spacers Guild. Great ensemble cast as well. SciFi miniseries is a solid adaptation, if a bit generic in it's atmosphere and mediocre cast except for a few standouts (Ian McNiece especially). Watch them all, I think together with reading the novels you get a decent all-around adaptation.
