What is the scientific reason behind this board getting more schizophrenic or psychotic people than the other boards, which generally get more autists?

I've seen it in real life too, people with schizophrenia tend to get into 'sciency' shit, even though it's rarely something that makes scientific sense. Is it just more common for smart people to be schizophrenic?

Not sure how else to call the field that this question is in regards to but that:

Do things cool down when they move faster, compared to if they are slower?

Im talking about relativistic speeds, where the mass of the entire system, as well as the mass of the particles that the system consists of, become bigger.
Since the particles do not gain energy relative to each other, their momentum should stay the same. However since the mass is increasing, their speed has to decrease, which would mean a lower temperature.
Thus as the entire system approaches light speed, it should cool down towards absolute zero. At exactly lightspeed (theoretically) the systems particles should not be able to move relative to each other resulting in that exact zero kelvin temperature.

Does anyone here have greater knowledge about the topic or can recommend any literature or papers on the topic? I find it hugely interesting and there doesnt seem to be a true consensus in academics on whether or not relativistic thermodynamics are a thing or not.

>>
>>9105168
If you have a box with a relativistic non interacting gas in it, the average kinetic energy of the particles will be higher than the one of the same system but with non relativistic particles. So the temperature would be higher too (kT = Ekin, with k being the boltzmann constant). It doesn't make sense to decouple speed and T.

If you're thinking of the thermodynamics of liquids and solids, it instead doesn't make sense to speak about relativistic speeds.
>>
>>9105168
>However since the mass is increasing, their speed has to decrease
>Thus as the entire system approaches light speed

see the problem?
>>
>>9105308
I do not. Could you elaborate? Or maybe I can:
By increasing mass I mean both the mass of the particles as well as the system, the first speed is regarding the particles and the second regarding the system.
As the speed of the system approaches the speed of light, the mass of the particles approaches infinity. Since there is no energy added to the particles themselves their momentum should stay the same, which means their speed has to drop.

>>9105242
Correct me if Im wrong but temperature is not absolute speed, but only speed of particles relative to each other.
If you look at a single particle, its momentum (relative to other particles around it) should be constant during acceleration, while the mass increases due to relativistic effects. This can only mean that the speed of the particle has to decrease, which since it happens to all the gas particles, means that the temperature drops.

Einstein did nothing but set physics back 100 years, relativity is bullshit.
Space does not warp, time does not dilate.
Many physicists rejected his work at the time but the (((media))) promoted him and his bullshit and silenced all dissent.
Relativity is not used in any engineering or technology whatsoever, don't give me the GPS bullshit thanks.

Redpill me on philosophy /sci/

Is it just language games resultant from grammatical accidents in the evolution of our language? Or is it a necessary extension of mathematics for the purposes of describing the nature of reality?

Given Wittgenstein's Anti_Platonist critique of mathematics ( see his Math-Philosophy in his Philosophical Grammar ) you'll see how the second part of your question is made redundant by a proper understanding of the first question - which is in my opinion, absolutely correct. I speak as an oxford educated ( DPhil) philosopher. You will find widespread dislike for this view from academics keen to maintain academic philosophy's status - and keep their departments (and jobs ) alive. Cheers.

Can humans evolve anymore? I feel like as humans.. we have kinda reached a peak of sorts. Like how would we even "evolve" further? We still have weird shit in us like appendixes and wisdom teeth. We don't have things like protective scales or claws or any shit like that.

How exactly could we evolve at this point? What is left for our bodies to do that would make sense? Are there any recent occurrences of human evolution even a small one?

Are we at the peak of our existence in terms of our natural physical forms?
16 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Maybe... Because we dont have to adapt to the enviroment, it adapts to us in some ways. There ir nothing to escape from that kills "non adapted" humans
>>
>>9104154
I'm guessing that any future form of adaptation will come from selective breeding pressures. Probably (hopefully) to create smarter and smarter generations of humans
>>
>>9104154
im guessing your talking biological evolve in which cause no, evolution happens only to adopt in a environment and humanity doesn't need to evolve anymore however it is now us who has to evolve ourselves.

So a lot of Scientific studies say that this m vaccine/autism or vaccine/brain-damage correlation is untrue, that Thinerosal has been tested on thousands of patients without any ill effects, but how do you explain all the stories people tell, or how about mine?

My parents tell me this story all the time, that after I got my MMR plus previous vaccines, I had a seizure the same day after the vaccine and I all of the sudden developed autistic behaviors.

But it turns out after heavy-metal testing, after talking to autism-specialists who suggested it was the Thimerosal that did this, she was right. My urine samples had extremely high levels of mercury and sone other metals like aluminum I think. Keep in mind I was born 2 weeks early, and you get Hep B vaccine the day you are born.

After being chelated, my behaviors began to normalize.

So if the docs never seen this happen to the tens of thousands of people tested, and theres my story and thousands of other shories like mine, how do you explain this?

>how do you explain this?
You had a seizure. It didn't make you autistic. It gave you seizures. You're the reason we have to make sure other people take the vaccine. Herd immunity protects idiots like you.
>>
>>9104010
You didnt read the rest of the post did you?
>>
>>9103949

Anecdotes != facts

Correlation != causation

These "autism-specialists" are lying to you for your mother's money.

Science doesn't have to explain every fuckin person's anecdotes. Your parents probably knew jack shit about chemistry or the actual composition of vaccines, let alone "autistic behavior." What the fuck would even constitute such symptoms in an infant, considering symptoms don't show until later in development?

Thousands of people believe they're going to heaven to receive 72 virgins for jihad. That doesn't make them right.

There are tons of crank "doctors" and "specialists" who will prey on a parent's love for their child to make some money off them.

TL;DR You had a slight adverse reaction and it went away normally. You don't "become" autistic and you don't "cure" autism.

Let's play a game.
We will try to deduce how aspects of fictional 'verses would play out in real life.
Humans are great at finding creative ways to use the tools already possessed and fiction doesn't do that justice by a longshot.
If followed through to their logical conclusions, you realise that these worlds have greater potential than shown.

For example certain systems of magic could be rigorously broken apart in order to create logical components that use mana instead of electricity. Magic computers!
Or when you can transfer your physical brain into a cyborg, you could also take someone else's brain, put it in a box that simulates a personal hell and give it a push into the blackness of space, to float..
That regenerating monster that is captured and used for food.
That portal gun that becomes a component of a perpetual motion machine and gives infinite energy.

>Parfit begins this chapter by making a refreshing break from the philosophical practice of thought-experiments, building instead on actual cases documented in medical literature. These are the famous ‘split-brain’ cases, in which surgeons severed the corpus callosum, the main bundle of nerve fibres connecting the left and right hemispheres of the human brain, as a treatment for epilepsy. Cutting the connection reduces the severity of epileptic attacks by preventing seizures from spreading from one hemisphere to the other. But there are side-effects.

>The effect, in the words of one surgeon, was the creation of ‘two separate spheres of consciousness’. (p 245)

>This radical conclusion was strongly based on clinical evidence. The hemispheres of the brain have long been known to show strong left-right differentiation. Images from the left side of the visual field flow to the right hemisphere, and vice versa. The right hemisphere primarily controls the left hand, and vice versa. Parfit describes split-brain patients being presented with two colours: red in the left half of their visual field and blue in the right half. The patients are questioned about what they saw. Answers originating in the left hemisphere are given by the right hand, and vice versa. A patient is asked how many colours he can see. The response from each hand is, “One.” When asked to identify the colour, the left hand responds, “Red” and the right hand responds “Blue”.

I actually studied this a little bit in my epistemology class. It's super strange. They report things like when they're trying to pick out an outfit and can't decide, one arm will just surprise them by grabbing something. The different sides of the brain can't communicate and I think our verbal thinking (the sort of inner monologue) is from one side so it isn't aware of stuff the other side deals with.

Just checked. Wernicke's area and Broca's area are both on the left side of the brain and those are our main speech areas.

It is sort of similar to two consciousnesses coexisting in the same body but I'm disinclined to call it that, as consciousness is pretty vague a concept. Plus, I think it's more like you're just not aware of what you're thinking.

Although first off, this thread is degenerate and you should feel degenerate, the answer would be yes. Promoting this fetish and allowing its expression to be public ally acceptable would increase the popularity of it and this the use of it. Mind the effects might not be noticeable if practically applied, but yeah it could be done.

There is evidence of this being done throughout history, although not in the radical case you're referring to. This can be observed through race-mixing, homosexuality, and transgenderism in Western First World countries. Mind those aren't fetishes, but taking the same civil rights steps they took and demanding the legislation to allow them to become possible and promoted would make this fetishism you're describing perform much like those movements.
This is also a bad thing however, as recent pedophile movements understand this and have been trying to become more acceptable within relevant recency.
>tl;dr: The answer is yes, there are historical examples, although I don't know the exact process of how it would be done or the affects it would cause.

Evolutionarily speaking, what is the evolutionary advantage of men? Will genetic engineering make men obsolete? What use will women have for ugly, dirty, hairy, horny, possessive, sex-crazed XY humans after genetic engineering allows them to produce 10/10 supermodel offspring with 200 IQ?

Yes I have been studying physics and machine learning on my own. I've made good progress. Currently doing 3rd year physics.

The main frustration is not having someone to ask questions when I get stuck. To some extent I mitigate this by getting 6-8 texts on each subject and looking at the other books when I get stuckl.

One benefit is I only have to learn what I'm interested in. E.g. when I did abstract algebra I basically skipped Rings and Ideals because not relevent to physics (at least, for now).
