I'm on the lookout for a good hatchback for under 13,000, made after 2010.
I have been looking at a Hyundai accent since a dealership near me has a 2016 for 10,300. I like it but I'm not certain yet.
What other good options are there on the used market?
>>17787793
Ford Fiesta or Focus, Chevy has the Spark or the Sonic, Fiat has the 500L (the auto trans is crap tho). You can probably find a Honda Fit in that price range too, though it may be higher Miles.
Keep in mind that none of these will be quick or super fun to drive, at least in the base trims.
>>17787793
Why do you want a turd that was pinched off mid squat instead if a real car? What's the appeal?
>>17787811
sonic lt is pretty fun as long as you dont have the poverty spec 195 tires and you get it with manual transmission
only problem its ever had is the sensor in the bumper that lets the ac know if its safe to operate unplugged itself and the hose attaching the air filter to the engine cracked causing lean codes. (which you can either go rice mode with a new intake or get the new revised part that doesnt crack)
I like the look/style of these older Rangers but I've heard they're pretty cheap/unreliable. Is there anyone here that can speak on what it's like to actually own one of these? Thinking of picking one up.
>old ranger
>unreliable
I mean, they'll have old car problems but it's a low comp ferd 4 cyl, a manual transmission, and a ferd rear axle. Those last forever with proper maintenance.
Just get a hillux nigger
If they've made it this far they've had most of their niggling issues fixed. They suffer from electrical gremmlins, people will replace the entire wire harness. Mechanically they're pretty good but water pumps ans alternators are pretty poor quality.
For unforeseen circumstances you have to sell your pride and joy. However you are only able to sell to the groups in pic related. Which one and why?
>>17787478
stacey will probably pay me more
>>17787478
> remark how old your car is
Then why the fuck is stacey buying something so goddamn old then?

I want to see a proper VIP style build of my crap diesel Volvo
I wonder if japan has EUDM nerds...
I am a 20 year old from ex-Yugoslavia and I am currently looking to buy a new car. I saved perhaps some 500e + my parents will add some money so it will be around 1000e for the car.
So I was thinking, what if I buy an old "retro" car, and use the rest of the money restauring and fixing the thing. It doesn't have to be a wreckage, but I want a car I could tingle around with + old cars look sexy and are not "hipster" or taboo in my country
So I am looking for
>simple
>cheap
>sexy
>doesn't spend too much on open road
I was thinking Fiat600, Opel Kadett C, Renault 4, what are your suggestions. I can find all of these in decent states for 500 and in perfect state for around 1000e
(pic related is a FIat600 that the guy values 800e)
Kadett C that I found cheaply
Perhaps even something like this
bumpin
My 97 540i needs a valve cover gasket replacement to pass smog. Also needs suspension but not as badly as the gasket.
My sister is letting me use her 02 626 til I can get it fixed since she has a 2016 camry.
I'm just wondering if it's worth it to keep the bmw since it's very expensive, though I already spent way more on it by replacing the transmission, radiator, catalytic converter, etc... I'm guessing I could only get ≈$1500 for it.
why did you post two 540i's?

>>17787299
why did you buy a bmw if you don't want to foot the bill when it breaks? The driving experience should be worth it to you or you should've just bought a civic.
>Chevy Bolt
>$37,500 car with 238 mi range
>finally electric car with reasonable range at price middle class can actually afford
>massive waiting list
>GM can't make them fast enough
>yet GM hardly makes any money on it
>because the battery is made by LG
>even the electric drive system is based on LG's design
>LG charges out the ass for the battery
>GM also has to license a bunch of electric car related patent from LG
>only one raking in dough is LG
How do you feel about the sad state of Detroit Big 3's dependence on external tech for electric car production?
>>17787247
Don't care
GM fucking sucks
Ford and Dodge arent wasting their time trying to appeal to the whiners on twitter who cant even afford a car, let alone an electric one.
GM first to the market with a mass market EV with a range over 200 miles. LEAF, a fucking LEAF, still out sells it. The Model 3 is/will be stealing all the press and sales. The 2018 LEAF 2.0 with 200 plus miles of range is coming out next month.
>$40000 compact car
>middle class
Lol
>tfw had to hire a lawyer to get the dealership to fix the piece of shit lemon they sold me
Well, frankly, it takes two to sell a lemon.

Why buy a used car if you know nothing about cars?
Do you trust discount gas like Arco and Valero?
Yes because I drive a shit box.
>>17787149
I don't trust fuel that isn't Shell or BP.
Last time I stopped at a smaller garage that wasn't one of those brands, I lost power and ended up with the engine spluttering on it.
And considering I only had 10HP to begin with, losing ANY was an issue.
>>17787149
at least in my area valero is top tier rated gas
I'm going to look at both of these cars today hopefully if I get a friend to look at them with me.
First is a 98 Honda Civic for $1500. It was a facebook ad, so here's a description:
PRICE IS OBO
I have a 1998 Honda Civic ex with 170xxx it runs pretty good. It has Working A/C, Heater and Power steering also it has a short shift that I got from eBay it also has a K&N cold air intake, after market stereo and a sub woofer decent interior 7/10 exterior isn't the best it's painted with primer but is peeling cause it wasn't done right has no rust. Bad things are the windows don't go down but the sun roof works good. Let me know if you want to come and test/look at it. Thanks
Next is a 1994 Toyota Celica. Here's the ad on Craigslist: https://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/d/1994-toyota-celica/6233086326.html
I might go for the civic, but it's being sold by a mexican so I will be cautious. Which one will be better than the other?
I'd go for the Celica out of those two.
>>17787147
is it because lack of info? I like the civic looks better but if reasoning is right, the celica could be better.
>>17787162
I'm a little biased that's for sure... I've lived with Celicas for over 10 years, and I've no plans of ever being without one. That said, the Celi has a newer engine and clutch, and working windows. But the windows on the Honda might be easily fixed if you know how to wrench and have a junkyard nearby.
If you just want a beater to get around town in then the Honda wouldn't be a bad choice. But if you enjoy driving around, and especially on curvy roads, go Celica.

That's a fucking cool car. If I didn't just buy a perfect starion I would probably be interested.
I've seen far worse cars go for $5500. Pretty cool buy actually.
Is there anything wrong with running slotted brake discs up front and solid OEM ones in the rear? Assuming both will be using the same pads.
n-no?
Doesn't really matter.
This is now a Girls and Ladas thread?

No.
