I love dirt bikes and don't plan on giving those up, but I quit riding street for the exact reasons you mentioned, plus the fact that there are just so few situations where I got to ride the bike as it was meant to, and actually got to have fun. My step father died after injuries from a motorcycle accident (his fault) and I sold my R6 shortly afterwards.
I went through a period after a few years where I really wanted a street bike again and ended up giving in. I barely rode the damn thing and wish I had saved myself the money and the hassle of having to sell it after I barely rode it over 2 years,
I love motorcycles, but street riding just isn't for me.

I'd suggest to keep the bike. I don't ride that much anymore as I did in the past. But the insurance and maintenance cost are just too damn slow to the consider selling the bike.

As an American my overall favorite car on earth is the Cadillac Seville STS. 300hp V8, massive amounts of luxury and relatively cheap used market. Not sure if they're crazy to import there though. Yup, take a day off to get over the emotional response and then ideally get 2 or 3 estimates. If you can't move it without a tow truck then that will be expensive. But if your first estimate is really expensive (if you can't tow it somewhere else then they don't have any competition) then it's probably worth some extra dollerydoos to get a second opinion (if they see you're willing to pay to have it towed elsewhere they're more likely to try to give you a good deal to snag you as a customer.)

If you have decent shops around they might take pity on you and try to give you sound advice.

I think most people find them fairly normal if not outright good (FCA reliability being the major issue ofc). I've never actually driven a modern one, because I'm American and we've only just started getting them again after 30 years.

I fucking love the classic ones, and plan on eventually owning a '60s-'70s GTV someday, as long as they don't skyrocket out of my price range.

i have a soft spot for small-ish brands though. seeing alfa and lancia, though part of FCA now, still makes me smile. same with, say, mitsubishi. i still mourn for saab and rover.
