Interesting perspective
>>73178293
Hey James, you didn't say hi back to me last thread, but I guess that's okay... :(
I personally like all of their albums and want to know what you guys think of 'em
Loved it at 18, coudn't care less about them now I'm 25.
>>73177489
Haven't even heard the entire album but that is one of my favorite album covers of all time.
>>73177489
Evil Empire is possibly the most poorly produced and engineered album of the past 25 years.
Sunday Night jazz thread
What have you been listening to and what do you think of it?
>Scott LaFaro started practicing bass at 18
What.
>>73177394
But he had a very musical background before that. Once you understand the theory it's really just about developing technique on the instrument.
Anyway, it's all about the hours you put in. If you can get 6 hours of practice a day, you can get good pretty quickly.
Jazz pleb here. Been listening to a lot of Cecil Taylor and some essentials like Blue Train and Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. I feel like it's starting to click. Well, as much as it can without learning the theory behind it. It's been a couple of years of dipping my toes into jazz (as well as classical), and I think it's starting to pay off.

You do know this guy is a racist, right?
Can we talk about these guys?
Really interested in them lately, after having ignored them for a while. Their early stuff seems really, really great. I'm amazed at some of the stuff they've done on these for saying a lot of it was pre-punk, let alone pre-post-punk.
>>73176305
I've only heard the Commercial Album by them but I really loved it, how does that compare to their other stuff?
>>73176305
Look for the delta the delta nudes, it the residents before the residents actually happened. Zappa wrote a song for them as the delta nudes
>>73179096
There's a reason it's called commercial album, most accessible one . Their newer
Stuff is hit or miss. They have like a series on YouTube I don't think many people know about .

What does /mu/ think of Disturbed?
>>73174153

>>73174509

teehee get it
because /daily/ is dead lol
The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

It's alright. Although if you're gonna do the double tracked voice thing, you could try some vocal harmonies. Also I like the bridge with the synth, but the synth line seems like it repeats the same motif a bit too much and too close together. It might be nice to add a bit of variation in it. Pretty good song though
>>73171855
I did try out harmonies, but I'm too unknowledgeable with harmony and singing in general to make it work. (Which is a shame, because the second verse would've been so much better with what I came up with.) And yeah, I felt the same about the repetitiveness, but any bridge I wrote didn't seem to fit. I could try a counter-melody on top.
Thanks for listening anon
