I used to be able to finish 500 page novels in a day when I was younger but now my brain struggles to understand the meaning of what I'm reading
I know what all the words mean and the words are all very familiar to me. However when I read them I get lost and struggle to make sense of the greater sentence/paragraph. The words all look familiar to me its just I can't piece them together without any backtracking like I used to, I used to read so fast and effortlessly but now I struggle so much
What is wrong with me?
Low attention span, you waste too much time on the internet. I had the exact same problem until I took internet vacation. Only 2 hours of gaming/ surfing and smartphone access severely restricted, felt like I was on adderal after that (not so hard, but similiar)

This. Screen time rewires the brain. Good news is that it can be wired back to how it worked before.

It honestly feels like its permanent, however I think you're right when I used to take driving lessons I came back after 2 hours and had no brain fog at all, I could read quite well but then after an hour or so I went back to struggling to understand. What do I do then? Just stare at a wall? I'm currently in between jobs at the minute so I don't have much to do
Anyone here read anything by Muck Bulligan? I hear she's one of the greatest writers of our time, and also that her critiques are amazing.

yes, she's an irrational idiot, but you are too, and you are actually less a good target for a smooch as she is, so in fact the tabulation of your both good qualities actually advances her over you
>Plato was discoursing on his theory of ideas and, pointing to the cups on the table before him, said while there are many cups in the world, there is only one `idea’ of a cup, and this cupness precedes the existence of all particular cups. “I can see the cups on the table,” said Diogenes, “but I can’t see the `cupness'”. “That’s because you have the eyes to see the cup,” said Plato, “but”, tapping his head with his forefinger, “you don’t have the intellect with which to comprehend `cupness’.” Diogenes walked up to the table, examined a cup and, looking inside, asked, “Is it empty?” Plato nodded. “Where is the `emptiness’ which precedes this empty cup?” asked Diogenes. Plato allowed himself a few moments to collect his thoughts, but Diogenes reached over and, tapping Plato’s head with his finger, said “I think you will find here is the `emptiness’.
Why do you care about Plato when Diogenes proved him a hack more than 2000 years ago?

Start with Aristotle's Metaphysics bks. 7-9 and the Categories. Move on to Abelard's Sic et Non, then Lombard's Sentences, then the Summa contra gentiles of Thomas.

Is he the spiritual and philosophical heir to Mishima?

No. Mishima wasn't a geek who took roids to fit in with American culture.

No. It's the bottom of the Literary barrel haphazardly combined with the bottom of the visual barrel.

Do you have a method of creating an ending? How do you create a good ending?
The character(s) must come to a greater understanding of themselves, or human nature, or the human condition.

>Do you have a method of creating an ending? How do you create a good ending?
A good ending is the product of a good story, it is not possible to just tack on. It is a catharsis, a release of dramatic tension that can last a paragraph or for 20 pages. This tension should have been built into the story using your writer's tools: themes, intertextuality, recurrence, metaphor, characterization, etc etc. You're an artist, write like one.
