Joyce's fart letters
Erectile dysfunction prescriptions.
the place that does good Greek food
I've been meaning to read it, and heard it's one of the best fantasy sagas out there. Should I read it?
>>9989230
Yes, it's among the best works of literature of the 20th century.

It has beautiful prose and excellent characterization. I'm thinking in particular Prunesquallor's development (or at least how is portrayal develops) and that of Fuchsia. Titus Alone also ventures into more interesting ideas about identity and memory. The novels are also the best Bildungsroman I've read.

If you read Amory Blaine as a self-insert, which he is, then definitely.
So we're robots. You know, I suspected it, but this is the first time someone told me.
>n my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since.
>“Don't work,” he told me, “Just hop on neetbux and ride that sweet, sweet gravy train. Oh, and women are evil, built for BBC."
>ughh... Is this non-fiction? Do you have anything else?
Ya need more context
I mean, everything is fiction to some degree.

>reading fiction
why? Its literally useless and out of date. Might as well watch shadow puppets. The only reason fictional stories were so full was because no body had anything to fucking do in the 1800s and were lucky to get a book a year.
Are there any good cyberpunk books? Preferably about a thieving crew or something along that Line. Was playing shadowrun and really ejoyed the atmosphere
>>9988857
Cyberpunk books:
Neuromancer
Synners
Altered Carbon
Islands in the Net
Mirrorshades
Schismatrix
Snow Crash
This guy >>9988917 has it right, but especially Neuromancer. It was the inspiration for Shadowrun, down to literally being the source of 'Street Samurai'.
Are there cyberpunk books that don't feel like they were written for nerds?
I'm looking for something more grounded where not all words are replaced by fancy computer terms.
Something like the new Deus Ex games, near future, early transhumanism, not completely dystopian, where most people still live like we do.

I never noticed it before but I love how Severian's depromotion from the guild to doing pointless paperwork is pretty Kafkaesque when you think about it.
The Count of Monte Cristo?

What are some good books I can finish before Sunday?
>>9988267
Seize the Day by Bellow. It's short and has themes re: drowning.
Crocodile Blood by George Mandel. Also written by a Jew and features near drowning, but set in Florida.
What is the capitalist/western version of this book?
>>9988088
The Art of the Deal
the exact moment that a joint-sponsored ad by nabisco, apple, and pepsicorp interrupts a facebook livestream of three young black men committing a drive-by shooting and demands that you CLICK TO WIN a chance to eat chicken tenders with the executive producer of the movie "300" before you can resume watching humanity consume itself
The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
Marx and Engels are western, too.
Did anyone read this?
What a fucking shitshow, I should've known better because it's Murakami but the first half of this was a fun, engrossing and comfy mystery but it takes a complete fucking nosedive halfway through and goes full retard unlike anything I've ever read. It made me feel dirty.
It goes full retard? With a title like that?

Naa, Only Tokyo blues and men without women. Actually reading Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage
Just started reading it and I'm liking it so far.

None so far. It's on my "list", though. What's it like?
It's brilliant - difficult, but brilliant.
Anyone know where i can find other books by David Lindsay? "The Violet Apple and The Witch" and "Spinhx" i mean.
Is this series good?
>>9987859
no. go read lotr, book of the new sun or gormenghast or something else that's worth reading.
Books 1-4 are good. Everything after is trash.
>>9987859
only the first is worth reading
Greek mythology is interesting and all, but what was Zeus' tax policy?
>>9987852
He requied several cow sacrifices. Not the whole cow. You could still eat the meat. However he requiers the blood, don't know what for. Generally his priesthood or wealthy citizens covered the cost.
If you think about it's a pretty good deal. A thousand sacrifices or so a year and inexchange he will not destroy the population with lightening. The average country know pays for inexcess of a thousand cows worth of taxes and we still have a lightening problem!
There's something perverted about Roman mythology, it lacks some innocence that the Greek mythologizers must have had when those myths were being founded.
>>9987860
The gods were tricked into getting the blood and bones of animals, and the humans were allowed to eat the meat.
