Don't listen to the meme, VP9s are fine guns for the money. No, they're not as robust as USPs and the P series but not being as overbuilt as a USP or as robust as a P series gun doesn't mean they're not robust in and of themselves. They're good guns for the money, in the same camp as many other polymer striker fired 9mm guns. They have one of the best out of the box triggers of polymer striker fired guns and will go bang when you need them to

Don't buy it just for the brand name, buy it because you shot it and it works for you. If it doesn't work for you buy something else in the same price range, like a Glock 19 or Walther PPQ (which gets compared to the VP9 very often)

Marines are entirely combat focused arm of the Navy department, army is responsible for taking care of itself which means much more infrastructure requirements for itself. Army Rangers and marines are pretty much equivalent in terms of "eliteness".

I was about a mile and a half out, sitting between groves when the call came in. Shooting at [address] in [town], two wounded, three dead. Now, most times when dispatch comes over the horn everyone tends to shut the fuck up real quick. The silence usually lasted as long as whatever the dispatcher had to report. This time the silence seemed like it lasted for hours. Finally someone broke the silence, other deputies were asking who was closest, if our fire department's EMT staff had the equipment to handle gun shot wounds, etc etc. There were four or five other people blowing up the frequency while I was punching in the address, I knew I was close but I wanted to be sure before I hopped on the mic. I was a mile and a third out, it'd take under a minute tops if I had my car lit like a Christmas tree and every horn I had going off.

"Officer _____ here, I'm a little over a mile out. Will probably need back up."

A half second ticked by before I got a slew of acknowledgments. That minute long drive felt way longer than it actually was, despite hitting speeds of 90+ on the way. In that time dispatch gave me a little more info on what I was diving into.

Family of four.

Botched home invasion.

The two wounded is the father and son.

The three dead are suspects.

The son phoned it in and was unsure if there are more inside the house. He's too scared and hurt to do anything.

Like I said, an anomaly.

I pulled up to the address. A late model F-150 and a Sentra were both in the driveway. in the front yard was a haphazardly parked Lincoln, all four doors still ajar. The door chime was going nuts, lord knows for how long. I put my plate carrier on as fast as I could manage. I'll admit I never really practiced putting it on, or working in it, so I fumbled a bit with the cummerbunds.

The AR I was more familiar with, it was an M4-gery, iron sights, nothing fancy or "gucci" about it, the fucker went bang when you needed it to however. I came up to the door, which was very obviously kicked in, low-ready. I kept an eye on the windows as I came up. I announced my presence with the standard "Police, lay down your weapons" etc. I got a conformation from just inside the house, they sounded scared out of their mind. As soon as I stepped inside the door my boot kicked a spent shell casing across the floor, it was one of maybe forty-ish. They looked to be mostly 5.56 or .223, mixed in were some pistol caliber casings. There was an empty 30 round pmag mixed in there too.

There was a long hallway with rooms coming off of it. Just to my left was an arch-way which lead into the living room. In the first half second a good portion of the story was told. There were two people lying down, one was slumped in the corner, very much dead. The other was propped up against the couch, still alive. Two were girls, the mom and the daughter, the daughter couldn't have been any older than six years old. The third was a kid, looked to be just over the crest of eighteen. Real skinny looking, dirty blond hair, some acne, farmer's tan. He was bleeding from his abdomen pretty bad and he looked white as a bed sheet. He was hunched over his dad, who was the one against the couch. He had been shot in the gut and his son was doing his best to put pressure on the wound, while completely ignoring his own. Mom and Sis were both wailing and nearly catatonic. I had to move and clear the house quick or this man wasn't going to make it, across the kid's lap was an AR.

I passed through the living room, verifying that it was clear and began to move through the rest of the house.

I'll be honest /k/, I'm not prior military. Nor am I really into guns all that much beyond some mild sport shooting and practicing with my duty weapons. I was an English major at a Community College and had never handled a firearm before the academy. Clearing that house was the most terrifying moments of my career and my life.

I found one more dead body slumped across the kitchen table, a lot of blood in the floor that was mixed with more 5.56 casings and a trail leading back into the living room.

The closet in the daughter's room was shot to shit, upon further inspection I found the third body.

The son's room was clear, despite it being an absolute mess and dark, I checked the closet too and it was empty of any human corpses.

Both bathrooms were clear. There was blood leading into the parent's room though.

I checked the parent's bedroom as well, also clear. The blood lead to their closet, I pulled that door wide open expecting to be shot at, shoot someone, or find a forth corpse. Low and behold I found another body. This one fresh, as in was still breathing. Just barely however, empty gun in his hand. I radioed in that the house was clear, and the EMT needed to get here as fast as they could manage. It went from two wounded to three, all critical and life threatening.

The next hour was a blur, four more deputies showed up as well as our County's EMT and the County over's. The suspect in the parent's closet expired on route to a hospital.
