Anyone in grad school? I got accepted to my dream M.S.E. program in Computer Science and I'm curious how the grad life is.

Get a job.
>>58905150
It is what you make of it, if you're a assburg don't expect it to turn your life around. Just focus on your education first and foremost.
>>58905150
It's more serious. With more serious type people. A lot more introverted types. Also a lot of people have jobs and families and are busier. Lot more of mid or middle late life stage people too. Its not 2 more years of college from my experience. But it's a good experience.
How to escape the botnet?
>>58904981
Disconnect from the internet and never connect again, ez.
>>58904981
Once you're in, you can't escape. Even if you drop off the map and go off grid, they still have your data.
Even if you never joined, they can build up a ghost profile based on what other people know about you.
It's impossible. Give it up. Give in to the botnet. The botnet loves you.
You have to completely reinvent yourself and go off grid completely, never connecting to technology again.

We just have to wait for a collapse in the near cyberpunk future.
I had a lot of tabs open and opened one too many with a bunch of shit scripts.
Is there any way to unfreeze it without rebooting so I don't lose my work? Usually it will unfreeze on its own after a few seconds or minutes, but it's not happening this time.

I tried that already! (It was really dirty.)
Ryzen is around the corner. Windows 7 support is not there from the motherboard manufacturers, so Windows 10 or GNU+Linux are our only options.
How do you intend to use Windows 10 on Ryzen without it spying on you? Virtualization? Dual boot with no network for Win10? Firewall blocking everything except browser and Windows update? Are you gonna go GNU+Linux only and say goodbye to M$ forever? Or are you just gonna accept the cock up your ass and take it like a man? I feel like this is a decisive moment in the history of computing.
I've had windows 10 installed since day one and my dad who works at Ms confirmed that non of my data got onto their servers thanks to peerblock and Spybot anti Beacon.

I'll buy Jewtel and build a Hackintosh.

>>58904755
Does anyone on/g/ virtualize Windows 10 under Linux with GPU passthrough? Does it work reliably enough for daily use? Is it a bitch to set up?
fun fact - all your text consoles are just a shell
fun fact 2 - the browser is also a shell
question : why aren't there more system level tools made in the browser?
Kinda creepy of you to post childhood pictures anon. Especially of long dead people.

They're one of the biggest tech companies in the business with lawyers that reflect that, they can pretty much get away with whatever they want.
It's genuinely disheartening GNU/Linux still can't compete in a lot of ways as I'd love to make the switch.
Throw some fellas.

Why do all of these dumb generals have so much shit in the OP?
Who the hell reads that shit?
Posting my question here again
I have a server with 2 network interfaces, eth0 and eth1.
I would like to use eth1 as a connection that goes through a pptp vpn tunnel, and eth0 needs to be available to accept connections on it's regular wan IP.
Then i would like to configure a torrent client to exclusively use the eth1 interface to tunnel through the pptp vpn.
Thus far i have managed to set up a pptp vpn tunnel, but can't get it to bind to a specified interface, the "pptp --localbind (eth1 ip address here)... etc" does not have the desired effect. Once the tunnel is established and ppp0 comes up it still routes all traffic through eth0

I am having trouble figuring out the code that belongs under the method for this exercise.
Here's the exercise in full: "Write a method that returns a new array by eliminating the duplicate values in the array using the following method header:
public static int[] eliminateDuplicates(int[] list)
Write a test program that read in ten integers, invokes the method and displays the result.
Here is what I have so far. I apologize, I'm still a beginner so I may not post it or format it correctly.
import java.util.Scanner;
public class DuplicationElimination {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
int[] numbers = new int[10];
System.out.print("Enter ten numbers:");
for (int i = 0; i < numbers.length; i++) {
numbers[i] = input.nextInt();
}
If anyone can give me a hint or tips or a nudge in the right direction I would appreciate it.
>>58903733
Sort the input array.
Then just iterate over the input array, adding the integer to the new array when it changes.
>>58903776
O(n log n)
>>58903733
You can do it in O(n) by adding every element in the array to a hash table and returning a list of the keys.
>>58903733
Use a hash everytime you inspect an element, it's O(1)
I want to get a new GPU fro my computer.
This Rx480 drop is looking very tasty right now, but vega seems to be just around the corner. I really want a card at a good price point like this drop. Is it a bad idea to pass up this 480 in favor of vega?
>>just buy Nvidia
My monitors are freesync
>>58903692
Usually 3 week shipping for these kinds of drops
>>58903714
Price is not an issue. I just want to make sure I'm not getting screwed on my purchase.
I bought my r9 270x just before the gtx 960 came out.
Isn't Vega at a completely different price point? Like $350USD+...
