Sup, 4chan.
Let's discuss everything related to VR/AR/MR. Gear, development, prospects and forecasts: we'll talk about everything that could be useful for a cowboy with the holodeck.

As soon as Facebook moved on Oculus I knew it was over. Shame.

VR is likely to remain niche forever. AR is a whole different matter. If it ever becomes viable, shit will be full Dennou Coil from then on.
Would I still see an fps increase in games if I overclock my CPU, even though my CPU never gets maxed out in any current games?
Very slightly, very very slightly, but yes.
Also, back to v
>>59151507
What is the reason behind this? Does it boost the GPU?
>>59151647
Because games don't fucking "max" your cpu.
So I just spent a very enjoyable evening installing Arch and i3-gaps on my thinkpad.
Now I'm done though, I have no idea wtf to do with my cool new setup. All I really do on the internet is watch Youtube and play videogames, which I would rather do on my much larger desktop. Plus for some reason my laptop now has a 4-5 minute boot time so its not even like its more convenient or timesaving to use it.
What do you guys use your laptops for, and what should I do with mine?
pic related, btw

Remember when I told you AMD was not gonna deliver because they never do, they always disappoint?
And even if they did deliver, it was just a matter of months until Intel came up with something better, leaving AMD in the digital dust for the next 5-10 years until they managed to catch up again (if they even last that long)?
And remember how you didn't believe me when I warned you?
Well, it's happened. Bet you are rectally shattered. Too bad.

Got one used from a family member a few months ago, when he upgraded to a 1070. For what I do (play FO4 and Ark on 1080p, light to medium Solidworks projects), it does the job fine.

NVIDIA doesn't even pretend anymore.
Ignore the axes, this is a really stupid chart altogether.

Tell me g, why do manufacturers present their progress as something totally game changing results?
Why not start from 0C° and 0 Dezibel?

With the release of Ryzen imminent, which tech review site(s) do you trust the most to be unbiased and to do the best job of testing/benchmarking?

All right /g/, I know I know, we're all excited with Ryzen benchmarks coming out, but let's talk about APU's and Laptops now.
We all know Intel is, and has been for a long time, the king of laptop processors, AMD simply has nothing to compete, the A10 was a huge failure on that matter. Pic related is a 47W i7 4770HQ, 4 cores, 8 threads, base 2.2GHz, turbo up to 3.4GHz, 128MB L4 cache for graphics (Iris Pro 5200).
How do you think Raven Ridge will perform compared to this /g/? I see they managed to make some amazing chips at 65W, I wonder how it will do at 47W. Do you think Iris Pro graphics will get Rekt?
Gonna buy a laptop with 2 months, need one for work.
Should I get high end now, or wait for Intel/AMD's new offerings? I mean, is it bad time to buy high end now, since lots of new desktop tech is coming out, is it the same with laptops?
>>59195238
>it the same with laptops?
nope, (if you can't wait until Q2)
>>59195133
Iris Pro literally only works well because of the L4, but it's obscenely expensive to fabricate and place on the mcm.
Raven Ridge is going to eat Intel's lunch in the mobile market like Naples is poised to eat up server market share.
Day 1 "true" Ryzen benchmarks might not happen. AMD is telling websites/YouTube reviewers to change how they review Ryzen 1 day before it releases.
