What are some commercial storage devices that are read-only at the hardware level, in such a way that no software measures can bypass it?

Daily reminder that if you're still using loops in 2017, you're doing it wrong.

Those programming in dinosaur-era procedural languages like C or Fortran are the exception to the rule.

Lua is the C of scripting language.

The whole interpreter is written in just 20000 lines of code, as opposed to over half of million of Python.

The major version has been the same for over a decade now, as opposed to Python changing every year, and the notorious Python2->Python3 breakage.

It's simple and small, a perfect sidekick for C. Why didn't you tell me about it, /g/?

Hey /g/, first time poster here. I just picked this up for just under $600. I'm retarded when it comes to technology just wanted an OK gaming PC. How hard did I get fucked and could you explain why and where?

for gaming its not the best
you could of have built better for cheaper but since its prebuilt its ok since no hassle
>>
>>59613763
It is not that bad. In terms of pure performance, you did not really overpay by much, maybe $50-$100.

The trouble will be later. Your PSU is low-end, your case is cramped, your mobo is low-end. The PC will last less than if you picked out better components, and upgrading will be more difficult.
>>
>>59613763
Some games may need you to upgrade your GPU. Don't expect to run anything at max as it is.

Also nuke the fuck out of the hard drive. Install Windows fresh.

iirc the trackball is the best for RSI/preventing RSI. Just got one a week ago and love it.

I had the natural ergonomic keyboard 4000, looked great but the number 6 was on the wrong side and the keys felt mushy.

Keyboard in OP is also membrane based. I wonder if it too is mushy....

After more than five years, some of the Megaupload evidence retained on hard drives has become unreadable.

how is that even possible? do hard drives really not last that long? the raid for the drives was 2012. and im sure they had top quality hard drives.

Drives can only perform correction when they are in a powered-on state. Data becomes damaged on a frequent basis, but we (and our computers for the most part) don't notice because operating systems and the disk hardware itself have countermeasures.

But if drives are left unpowered for long enough, the damage can stack up to be irreparable.

Take into consideration how many drives are in the equation and who knows what can happen. RAID is meant to handle drive loss, not loss of data integrity.

Bit rot. I tried firing up a windows xp rig and the hdd was fully rotted. Tried swapping the hdd for a new one and installing from CD, but the CD data was too degraded from age. Even torrents of the ISO are too old at this point.
>>
so basically everyone should use a solid state drive so the data will last forever? or is that not even true

For gayming? No

Generally adaptive sync makes much more sense, a graphics card should not feed frames to a monitor related to its refresh rate but instead the monitor should adapt to the graphics card spewing them out
So it would be good to slowly go over to it for everything, not just gayming

VSync is a legacy feature from the time of analog TV and CRTs

You got some new aesthetics. Just go with it.

C vs C++ for the following categories:

1. Program library
2. Terminal application
3. GUI application
4. Database interaction
5. XML/JSON/Configs
6. Graphics
7. Network/Web protocols
8. Productivity

Which one wins?

Is VPNSecure any good? XDA has a sale where you can get lifetime for 40 bucks, but PureVPN is 90 bucks. Is it worth it going for Pure or no?

It depends on what you're doing. If you're just trying to hide traffic from work, school, etc. you can make your own service, look into OpenVPN. If you're trying to pirate shit, or commit some other crime, you're better off forgetting it about - unless that is that you're willing to break the law.

There is no fix for that. Not from the image anyways.
