How do you do backups /g/?
Do you backup all the data you own, just stuff necessary for a running OS, or just data files?
I personally write a disk image of my 2TB SSD Raid0 array to a 6TB HDD Raid5 array every monday morning. Aside from that, I have a NAS that contains all my data files, and it has 4 4TB drives in it with a Raid5 configuration.
How about you guys?
>Macs backup to Time Capsule
>iThing backup to Macs... whenever someone remembers to plug them in
I don't have a backup solution for my Android devices.
Nor my multi-TB NAS.
>>59622781
I made my peace with essentially ignoring an entire drive in my NAS for the added data integrity of RAID 5.
for the most important stuff:rsync -av --delete -e ssh ~/Documents/stuff/ [email protected]:~/Backup/stuff/
cron runs this daily:rsync -av --delete ~/Backup/ /media/pi/sda1/Backup/
On windows I let it make a backup every week to another hard drive.
>Buy new laptop with Win10 preinstalled because college
>want to dual-boot Win10 and Linux 16.04
>follow the guides to a T, remove Secure Boot and Fast Boot, properly sized the partitions, boot into Live environment and install with no issue
>rebooting goes straight back to Win10
>boot back into Ubuntu Live, tells me it can't mount
>no idea what the fuck to do because I've never had to fuck around with boot partitions, nor do I have experience with Linux
>don't want to dick around with Terminal packages too much bc too afraid I will brick my entire disk by mistake
Why does Ubuntu hate me, /g/? Has dual/multi-boot ever caused anyone else this much trouble?
Google ur issue faggot, and I'm talking about ur tech issue, not your mental issue

Insightful response, thanks for contributing to the conversation.
Googling was the first thing I did, fuckface, I've spent hours and hours trying to figure this shit out to no avail.

sounds like you GRUB didn't install properly. have you formatted the drive, installed windows and then tried it again?

Wait can a potato really work like that?
My deceased Creative EP-660 was the best in-ear phones that costed between $16-$20 with a wide range of 6Hz-24Khz it's crazy, very rich sound as well.
What would you recommend as a great alternative?
- Neodymium drive
- Reasonably priced
- Specs and your overview of your choice.
CAN YOU REPEAT THE QUESTION PLEASE?

Bumping for interest. I go through like 2 pairs of these assholes a month. The connection keeps breaking in my pocket.
>>59622606
if you are THAT clumsy, get a fucking case. I use a pair of 35$ sennheiser in-ears with really shitty thin cables for 3y, because I use them CAREFULLY. you should definitely try that out once

Which is easier to unlock when stolen iOS or android?
We debating for an hour with my apple fanboy brother and I tend to believe that android is quite more secure.

whats up with this optiplex being everywhere?
I repair computers as a hobby and I have never seen a more common computer, and it usually comes from old people. they are always covered in this yellowish gunk and dust for more than a decade, but they still work.

I'm currently reading "learn python the hard way" it's actually kind of awesome
BTW I am learning it again using python3 what's different besides the print("stuff") thing?
>>59623024
the biggest change is the move from str and unicode in python 2 to str and bytes in python 3.
Applications that communicate with outside world now need to be updated to make sure that any incoming data is UTF8.

I've been playing games after coming from office because fuck I am frustrated from doing something I don't like for 8 straight hours.
How do I motivate myself to start working on my game project which I can sell to get rid of current job?
Trying drinking some bleach.
Bleach contains special enzymes that are well known for their motivational properties.

recuva works good IMO
Tcl was designed with the goal of being very simple but powerful.
I just cloc'ed the Github project, it's 250 000 lines of code in 20 languages. It's big and complicated, and the only thing it's used for is making ugly GUIs. It's neither simple nor powerful.
Or am I wrong?
>>59621439
> It's neither simple nor powerful.
So it's basically like other homoiconic languages, except you can at least create ugly GUIs ootb.
/thread
Now, seriously: You notice how the c in tcl stands for command? Their mistake was trying to shake that off instead of embracing it, i.e. trying to become a standalone scripting language with an embedded command language syntax/semantics.
>>59621543
> Their mistake was trying to become a standalone scripting language
Agreed. Scripting languages perform best when they are a small toolset designed for specific fields and audiences, like Lua.
Do you know of any examples of modest scripting languages, who took that approach and didn't try to conquer the world?
>>59621603
You mean like Lua, disregarding the retarded fanbase that uses it for other things than configuration scripts?
You mean like Wren or AngelScript, disregarding the retarded fanbase that WILL want to use it for other things than gaymen?
You mean like JS, disregarding the retarded fanbase that tries to use it for other things than FUCKING NOTHING...
I don't know anon, it seems more like a trend to create bigger stuff. See Lily. Seems cool, but I doubt the author alone can create all the libraries required for it to be used in a broader public.
There is also the Dart SDK, which in its core should be rather decent.
Also, there is a lot of crap on the other end of the spectrum nobody uses, like AWK.
/g/, I need a diary app for my phone.
Any suggestions for a offline, decent, simple writing experience?
Forgot to say, Android phone.
