I had a 1440p monitor that made 1080p look like shit
Now i've a 2160p monitor that made 1440p look like shit.
I can't even look at 1080p anymore

How autistic are you to see 1080p as a valid gayming comparison base for high end components

increasing resolutions is the most jewish trick, i bet you look at 4k screens the same way you looked at 1080p several years ago.
at first its beautiful, then you get used to it.

don't fall for the increasing resolution jew.
>>
>>59605284
Resolution increasing is one of the least jewish trick ever.
It's 100% transparent. Better resolution = higher pixel density at same size = greater workspace at same size / legit game detail increase / etc.

So what's the opinion here on old receivers vs. new? The price/availability of the old are very subject- it's easy to find a old receivers that go for a lot on ebay for next to nothing on classifieds/goodwill. Then there's the new receivers that retail absurdly and the used market people are all over the place.

Personally im not one to need a million things hooked up at once or a lot of the other features that the new offer, and i don't think I'm alone there. Like realistically how many people are going to own a full 5.1 and how much of the audio people listen to on a daily basis just stereo anyways?

I feel like for average audio consumption a 70's receiver with a set of paradigm/jbl speakers can do better than a lot of the powered monitors and desktop speakers i see a lot of people here have for less.

They can be good but like all old tech suffer from degrading components. Really the only reason to consider them is the complete lack of modern quality receivers.
>>
They've gotten kind of fashionable in the last few years so the values on the good ones are outrageous and the cheap ones are not really any better or cheaper than something with a warranty from say Parts Express. Plus they tend to be ginormous and have way too many knobs and terminals on the back. Too much to go wrong. In before "I bought one and it turned out fine", the idea of ripping open a chassis and spraying contact cleaner everywhere and replacing a bunch of leaky old caps is not my idea of time well spent. I could be shitposting on 4chan.

>procedural
>functional
>OOP
>imperative

which should I learn?
What good sources are there about the diferences?

Why OOP is bad?
10 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>59604800
go with imperative if you're writing performance-crucial shit like a pixel shader or something. It means hand-holding your cpu on what to do and using virtually no abstractions

procedural i've always found to be kinda unidientifiable, like how the fuck do you recognize something to be procedural

functional is much nicer, more readable and such than oop, but inherently it's stateless, which makes certain things very difficult to implement. Don't try making a chess game or something in functional, it'll be a horrid mess you can't make sense of because the game's state isn't defined well. Use functional for a sort of transformation pipeline, where some data comes in, you apply some transformations to it, and output something related (e.g. maybe you can implement a binary hash program in it, hashes are usually transformation pipelines with little or very transient state)

oop for anything that's gonna be inherently stateful like a game, stuff with databases like a sales/clients register, and guis
>>
>>59604800
oh btw java is a nice mix of both oop and functional

>inb4 pajeet

java is all about oop, but you have streams and lamdbas, so inside a code body somewhere you can do things like
Map<identity, thing> map = listOfStuff.stream()
.filter(x -> x.someBooleanProperty())
.filter(x -> "bla".equals(x.thing))
.map(x -> new WrapperThing(x))
.collect(x -> Collectors.toMap(x.identity, x));

You can make nothing with C only by yourself.
>>
>>59604619
you can make them using C, however i would not suggest doing it without some kind of utility library, the base C standard libraries are incredibly sparse compared to the C++ STL

This.
It is too slow for personal use and when you collaborate, you don't use google docs anyway.
It is not a good tool unless you need X people to write stuff at the same time while someone can monitor their work.
And that scenario is not happening for me.
