Howdy anons,
Today I'll be moving 100% to Linux (more specifically, openSUSE Leap). Up until now I used it just for uni work.
Krita is a good PS clone. Inkscape is meh, but works. Blender is quite good. Thus, I'll be able to do my graphics freelancing work.
I gave up games, and the only 2 that literally interest me are Insurgency and Arma 3, both on Linux. My printers work. My programming work is easier.
How many of you are right now 100% on Linux?
>>60207605
100% here. You won't regret it anon. Programming in anything other than Linux is a pain.
Also gonna do it soon, just dont have the time right now.
But I still have to decide which Distro it will be. Right now i think of either openSUSE Leap or Manjaro.
>>60207605
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
how often do you guys update your build?
i try to build it so i can use it for at least 5 years
previous build was a 2500k + 8600gt first then an upgrade tom6970 and i used that for 4.5 years.
for me, its the best because where i live everything is 5x more expensive so whenever i got the chance to buy shit in the us i take it.
what about you?
i meant upgrade

Why the fuck does everyone need the shit that the full-fat version gives anyway? I'm fine with the basic version.

its not much but i never get a warehouse effect in my home and i get to solve problems and build shit
>>60207074
That's pretty neat, what sort of components do you usually get? Is it more of a rebuild thing where you search for specifics, or just gather and build with what you've got?

"Jacobson and Comiskey are listed as inventors on the original patent filed in 1996", it already has.
However.... They filed a bunch of additional patents not sure how that works. But they underlying principle is fair game now.

If there's an iMac "Pro" refresh you can bet your ass that someone somewhere is gonna find some way to rackmount it.
That's how I feel.
Feels as useful as getting normal rackmount servers covered in diamonds

There's just no way that is a cost effective server solution... right?
