What does it take to be a genius programmer? I want to be as knowledgeable as possible and go down the road of pure autism.
So other then "Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs" since it doesn't offer any practical real worls use
The wiki says that
, what books do I read to achieve success? I don't know where to start

Enroll in a university if you can't guide yourself. That's what they're for.

the non-enthusiast desktop is dead
I just realized something: without one, the other cannot work, and the desktop PC market would crash. Not because of monopoly issues, but because of lack of innovation. AMD keeps Intel in check with their CPUs. They do stuff like Ryzen (moar corez) when Intel is making the desktop market their cocksuckers. Then Intel takes it and refines it to something much better over the next few years. Without Intel, AMD would just be a BTFO'd company thats too poor to operate. Without AMD, Intel would have the market at its dick and would have to suck up to their shareholders and business partners for ideas. They would make almost nothing new, and if so, at an insane price.
>>60647283
Essentially for fags who dont want to read, AMD is Intel's thinktank, and Intel is AMD's refinery
>>60647283
>AMD keeps Intel in check with their CPUs.
AMD does the bare minimum, and aren't trying to compete with Intel. They mostly just ride Intel's coattails while existing just because they are cheaper than the alternative in a small window of time.
>Without AMD, Intel would have the market at its dick
I have bad news for you anon

(You)
So I had planed on buying an RX 580 but seems like Buttcoin miners have ruined the market. Instead of spending $260 on a pretty good video card I just dropped $360 on this fucking thing. A dumb game I play, the only game, has an expansion coming out in 18 days and I wanted a new GPU.
Fucking bullshit and the worst is that Nvidia gets more money for their shady business practices. EVGA GTX 1070 go ahead and fucking roast me /g/ I deserve it.
>>60647277
It's not Bitcoin, bitcoin mining outside of the dedicated ASIC world has long since become a total waste of time. It's Ethereum and Litecoin and other alts.
>Assuming anyone is still mining Bitcoin these days without an ASIC...
An ASIC is purpose made to mine Bitcoin at optimal efficiency. A COTS video card + CPU desktop is nowhere near as efficient.
Also, if the RX580 was that expensive at the time, why didn't you just get an Nvidia card instead, as Nvidia cards have _always_ been worse than the equivalent AMD card at mining tasks.
It's ethereum mining
Uptime thread?
Why aren't you running debian on all your computers?
This is how laptop batteries get drained.

I do. At work.
Any Debian is too slow/unstable for my personal taste so at home Arch rules.

This bag of bones is saying that his new solid state glass battery is going to render the lion battery a relic of the past. What do you think, /g/? Is a revolution coming or has this old kook finally gone senile?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_battery
>Researchers have tested the battery with over 1,200 charge cycles
>Goodenough responded to the skepticism, saying that the Fermi energy of the lithium anode is higher than the very thinly-plated lithium cathode current collector, creating the battery's voltage.
>The paper describing the battery was published in Energy and Environmental Science in December 2016.
Why would I distrust him?

it's got major faults atm that maybe time and further development will overcome.
Personally, I think he just wants to relive the good auld days and get his dick a little wet before he pops his cloggs.

Why is the Gentoo community generally friendly and helpful, while the Arch community is full of rude and autistic elitists?
Gentoo is harder to configure and set up, so why don't the elitist cunts flock to that instead of Arch?
>>60646826
Because resolving issues with Arch is a right of passage. If you cannot solve your problems on your own you have no business being an Arch user. It's less of an OS and more of a lifestyle really.
>>60646850
what about gentoo? It's easier to make it "your" operating system than Arch is, and you're generally more responsible for everything on gentoo.
>>60646826
Because Arch is literally by ricers for ricers. They get off on "bleeding edge" packages and care about frivolities.
Gentoo is more serious linux types that actually understand things.
