I just realized something: without one, the other cannot work, and the desktop PC market would crash. Not because of monopoly issues, but because of lack of innovation. AMD keeps Intel in check with their CPUs. They do stuff like Ryzen (moar corez) when Intel is making the desktop market their cocksuckers. Then Intel takes it and refines it to something much better over the next few years. Without Intel, AMD would just be a BTFO'd company thats too poor to operate. Without AMD, Intel would have the market at its dick and would have to suck up to their shareholders and business partners for ideas. They would make almost nothing new, and if so, at an insane price.

Essentially for fags who dont want to read, AMD is Intel's thinktank, and Intel is AMD's refinery
>>60647283
>AMD keeps Intel in check with their CPUs.
AMD does the bare minimum, and aren't trying to compete with Intel. They mostly just ride Intel's coattails while existing just because they are cheaper than the alternative in a small window of time.
>Without AMD, Intel would have the market at its dick
I have bad news for you anon
>>60647369
(You)
>>60647369
you have no idea what you just wrote anon.
Intal hasn't made any new ideas for a really, really long time.
skylake is still a refined P6
and it scales like shit.
But at the same time AMD isn't in the IPC race at all and it always falls away on that.
Never the less the percore power is gettting better and its getting closer to intel and even surpassing it some times.
Now the tables have switched and its now Intel making house fire cpu's.
>>60647283
This is the way it has been since AMD got the X86 license.
AMD advances, Intel copies and improves. Any time Intel tries to innovate we get shit like Larabee and Itanium.

So present day Intel... what does AMD do again?
>>60647841
They are intel's thinktank

That must be why Zen is a carbon copy of Intel's garbage ringbus design .. OH WAIT.
>>60647708
>AMD isn't in the IPC race at all
Ryzen IPC is within 5% of Kaby Lake IPC, bro.
>>60647283
>He thinks a competitive market exists when literally JUST two (2) companies make CPUs for the entire world
>>60649467
Never said its competitive. Its more of a cooperative relationship, without Intel actually cooperating. Not shilling for AMD though, they are still too piss poor to be refining their designs ever 6-12 months.
wow, just blew my mind

>Ryzen IPC is within 5% of Kaby Lake IPC, bro.

*With higher speed ram installed
Ryzen is between haswell, and broadwell ipc in reality with near broadwell frequency capabilities.
>>60650080
ye that is true. AMD can make low cost cores, but they cant fucking fix their ram problem
>>60650144
They make lower cost CPUs because they skimp out in some areas, and add cores to make up for the deficiencies.
>>60650571
This is what stupid fucks actually believe... castrate your self.

Your face must be tired to say something that fucking stupid.

Really nicca? Really? They just said they have Two CPU teams plus the team designing the new chip after Zen.

2011 called, they want their memes back. Zen is not Bulldozer. Ryzen is not FX.
>>60650144
It's more an issue of latency.
When they moved the memory controller on-die was the last time AMD caught up to Intel in terms of latency. In that sense, Ryzen's disappointing problems in scenarios where it's not just sequential number-crunching isn't so surprising.

These are issues that mostly occur in 1080p gaming where you aren't GPU bottlenecked. https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/Ryzen-Memory-Latencys-Impact-Weak-1080p-Gaming

Oh shit Agesa bios update released? When?
>>60650836
RIGHT NOW BITCH.
Intel probably have shares in AMD, plus they have a vested interest in keeping AMD around due to monopoly laws. Just like when Microsoft bought a chunk of Apple
>>60650080
>>60650571
Sure they do. That's why Intel is panic releasing DOAlake-X and InfernoLake-X :^)
