i accidentally clobbered a big (~1 GB) video file with command line fuckery, by copying another video file on top of it. i quickly stopped the copy, so only about 70 MB got overwritten, but now the filesystem just sees a complete 70 MB file.
i know the rest of the data is still there, it's just not pointed to by any inode (or whatever the NTFS equivalent of an inode is). i tried recuva, but since the file wasn't technically "deleted", i've had no luck. i also tried this: http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizardpro/, which says it found an 800 MB video file with no filename, which might be what i'm looking for, but they're trying to jew me out of 60 bucks to actually recover my file.
so: does /g/ know of other recovery tools? searching google for stuff about overwritten file recovery returns just dozens of results of people trying to recover small word documents, and stuff about windows' "previous versions" feature, but my situation is a bit different.

But before we begin, let me just preface this post by saying that Palmer Luckey is truly the best of /g/ and is probably browsing /g/ all the time. He's the best /g/entleman I've come across.
- he created VR tech and founded Oculus
- he sold Oculus at the height of VR hype train and fucked over the #1 nemesis of /g/, the Facejew's Zuckerberg.
- became a billionaire in the process
- funded PRO-TRUMP non-profits and gave money to 4chan-style trolls that fucked with Hillary and rest of the insane SJW libtard shitheads
- never hired SJWs while he ran Oculus
- after leaving Oculus, he started a company that will monitor our borders and prevent illegals from crossing over and keep us safe
- HUGE anime fan and loves Re:Zero and wants to fund anime with Rem as MC.

In theory, doesn't a compiler simply translate high level code (+meme optimization) into binary machine code?
If so, could it be possible to write two identical programs (binaries) with two different languages (i.e. assembli and c).
And could it be possible to write a compiler for interpreted languages (such as python)?
Or a compiler to bridge between languages (i.e. write python in c++, c++ in python)?

Not in theory, that's exactly what it does.

What do you mean by identical? You could make two programs that do the same thing because both of these languages are turing complete. If you're asking if they would both turn out to be identical files upon compilation, then most likely not. However in theory you probably could accomplish this meaningless goal with enough autism.

Yeah these exist for a lot of scripting languages since using an interpreter isn't always practical/desired. Python has a bunch of these.

You mean like writing a C++ function for use in a Python program? Yes you can. It's called "extending" and it's a pretty common practice. Some people see Python as a shim for C.

I'm guessing he means when a compiler will take the liberty to turn expressions like "15 + 3" into "18." I don't know why he called it a meme though since it's pretty good functionality and often produces a better program than an assembly expert would. I can't prove it though.
