How does it feel knowing in 20 years TVs wont be a thing, everyone will have a tablet/PC/laptop, a form of google glass/smart glass to wear, self-driving cars, and then robots serving fast food...?
>>60847461
Well a fucking dystopia, everything is controlled, monitored, if is not the government will be google, Facebook or even if they die, will be another company doing the same shit all over again, i don't know man, is space safe from this shit? i would wan to just go there
>>60847461
Anyone who doesnt have a masters degree or higher in STEM or health, or doesnt enlist in the armed forces, is a poor faggot who will die early
people will still want a dedicated screen to watch TV and movies on.
Help, my mom's friends came over and brought over two of these things, where is the damn mute button? Do I have to empty the cache?

whatever you do. do not stick your dick in it. never seems to work. makes a mess and turns the volume up even further.
You have to turn on the iPad in order to mute it.

Thoughts on google amp? I actually like using it for convenience but Ive noticed it getting a lot of hate
>>60847027
I kinda like it but I need to learn how it works properly.
Google AMP is basically just proper mobile webdev enforced by Google, plus some botnet JS. Stop gooping everything up with 20MB of JS, CSS, fonts, and media files and you get the same responsiveness.
>>60847027
I used to not like AMP pages because if I wanted to share the URL of an page I'd end up with https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.website.com/example/amp/ when I copied the address bar and I'd have to manually remove all the extra Google AMP stuff to get just the site URL. Now that that is fixed (they added a button in the top bar that'll display the normal URL) I mostly don't mind them.
Another somewhat annoying issue that still exists is that there's some websites where I prefer to use the desktop version and if I enter that website by writing the URL in the address bar the website will remember I want to use the desktop version (there's probably a cookie for that), but if I open that same site from a Google search result and it's a AMP page then it'll be mobile version of the site.
How the fuck come there's no organized movement against social media? They're literally brainwashing devices. Plus they're all under the indirect control of US government. How come EU and rest of the world has not woken up to this? I guess China did but they just made their localized poison instead of rejecting it altogether.
It's literally the biggest misuse of internet imaginable. Even deep web is more innocent than this shit. It's literally mass brainwashing. How do we save the future /g/?
>>60847016
You can't. Social media sites are taking advantage of the basic human need of communication. Everyone wants to talk to each other. Without the hassle of going out and doing shit.
Kinda like this site?
>>60847026
Fun fact: both this website and facebook farm your data for shekels.
>>60847026
>>60847061
I think the biggest difference is that noone's self esteem is at stake here. 4chan does not invoke any compulsion for self promotion. Whereas the smallest dose of social media I get makes me feel like I'm inadequate and should go out and do things just so I can talk about them online.

Has anyone created a way to intelligently process a batch of videos, such that, let's say,
>video converter gets a x264 video input
>it "scans" this video
>determines the x265 quality level that would be "optimal"
>converts it to x265
Instead of just setting the same profile or quality setting for an entire batch of videos to be converted?
I imagine you could make a c/bash script using libav/ffmpeg and change the params based on file info from ffprobe
https://libav.org/
http://rodrigopolo.com/ffmpeg/
https://video.stackexchange.com/questions/16356/how-to-use-ffprobe-to-obtain-certain-information-about-mp4-h-264-files
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/FFprobeTips
>ffprobe -v error -show_format -show_streams input.mp4
and then you could do something like this:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2327927&s=cbbdb615a67cc48e86ec9b8a78696042&p=13504734#post13504734
but for whatever you need to check in x264
>>60846462
>but for whatever you need to check in x264
what do you mean by this?
also currently I only run linux in VM, or is this something that can be done in Windows using bash now with the "Bash on Ubuntu on Windows" thing I have heard of?
>>60846605
i'm not sure how you would determine the x265 quality level
What is the best RAMDisk software to use?
I have 64gb in my workstation laptop. I haven't added additional HDs to it yet.
What software is best for a persistent RamDisk?
I am using Windows 10 Pro. Whenever the new Windows Workstation OS comes out, I'll use that. I am also going to add Debian later when I have time, but for now I just use Windows 10 Pro.
Please. There's so many too choose from!

I have these here Bose 141 speakers. I was curious, since they seem to be passive speakers, if I could connect them to my PC, without an amplifier, and have good sound quality.
Even on Amazon, they don't seem to come with an amplifier, but is that the only way to connect them? What amplifier would be recommended?
There's not some sort of wiring work I could do to connect the speaker wires to my sound card?

>>60845978
You need an amplifier, but it doesn't have to be a huge home theater receiver or anything. The /g/ favorite small amplifier used to be the Lepai LP-2020A+ which costs maybe $30.
Does your workplace have a Stallman room?

So I've been working in the tech industry for about ten years now. Mostly, in Southern California. I just moved to the Bay Area a few weeks ago to take a job at a Fortune 500 IT company up here. Things are great and love the company but I can't help to notice at least 50% of the staff are foreign born and almost certainly not US citizens. Furthermore, there is very little diversity in this group. They basically come from two countries China and India. I am very out going and even speak some Chinese so I go out of my way to try and talk to and meet as many people as I can. I have yet to meet one Pakistani, one Bangladeshi, one Korean, or one Japanese. So from a diversity standpoint it's a total failure! So what's going on in the Bay Area economy? When I worked in Southern California 70% of my coworkers we US born citizens of all sorts of backgrounds. Furthermore, the foreign born coworkers were way more diverse, sure they were mostly from India and China but I knew some dudes from Russia, South America, and other Asian countries not the case in the Bay Area. Anyone have some insight on to why this may be the case? Also, are companies not able to get enough qualified candidates from the US or are they just abusing the H1B visa program so they can hire four or five guys from India and pay them what they would pay one American?
thanks
>>60844978
anon, that isnt what eastern eurpe looks like. Where the fuck did you even get this map?
and also because there are no tech jobs here and in most of America. In matter of fact, theres hardly any job worth a damn and any job you can find that is worth a shit wants you to intern for free for way longer than is acceptable or they want 10 years experience for a started position + credentials that are retarded
>hurr must be fluent in every programing language to ever exist
what the hell is that picture?
>>60845186
Actually, between all the FANG companies startups etc. There are a shit ton of tech jobs. However, at least 50% are going to H1B visa holders. Probably, more like 70% I'm not sure if anyone is tracking these statistics.
