Hello, /an/
I hope I'm on the right board to ask this question: my friend bought 2 egyptian predatory beetles, 7W heater pad and 300 X 195 X 205 mm plastic box (exoterra material, box cost 10euros), he told me that beetles can resist temperature between +10 and +32 Celsius degrees, but during winter in his home temperature can get down to +9 Celsius degrees, so he is wondering can such plastic box handle the heat (that it wouldn't melt or create heat which would harm the beetles), if it cannot handle the heat or the heat would harm the beetles, is there any way to reduce it like putting some material between the pad and the box and which material?
Thanks in advance for comments
it will be ok if it is plastic

I'd recommend a 30 or 40W halogen lamp instead. It's a better way of heating and the beetles like basking under the heatspot.
Are any of you from Vegas and with pet rats? I have to put one down tonight and don't want to just keep my other baby alone and depressed. I want her to have a friend.
I'd give her to you free with food if you have other rats and take good care of them and promise she won't become food. She's a year old
what is this thing

Looks like a cicada.

It doesn't seem to be an existing cicada species so it may be something else.>>
So, what's the mod of /an/ got against environmental threads?
Cause my threads keep getting pruned minutes after they are made, and they aren't in the archive. Nor did I delete them.
Try /out/? Environmental threads really aren't /an/s thing. We are more into plants and animals
Share some of ur nature pics. Doesn't have to be a game changer. Just whatever has been doing it for u lately.

I won't deny that I'd like a goat for a pet.
They are cute and they remind me of home.
What are some stories you have about banally shitty pet owners?
This one's got me torqued the fuck up.
>at coffee shop apartment searching
>a gal comes in asking for water and bowls for the two dogs she and her friend are walking
>look outside
>dogs are distressed, pacing, pawing at the door to come inside, holding paws off the brick sidewalk
>85°F outside
>dogs are barefoot
>brick sidewalk is around 100°F
>tell the women how hot the sidewalk is and that their dogs may be distressed because their paws are hurting, so get them in some shade or the grass
>they get snippy with me and tell me they're fine and they're only freaking out because they're being walked for an hour
>walked dogs shouldn't even be distressed anyway
>such careless owners they didn't even bring bowls or water for their dogs
Why the fuck are people like this? I understand not wanting strangers randomly criticizing you, but I told them as politely as I could. What kind of person gets defensive when you tell them their dogs may be in pain? There needs to be more qualifications to owning a dog than just having the money to buy a pup from a mill or BYB or to pick one up from a shelter.

>tfw can't find dog shoes where I live even though it's extremely fucking hot
Can't walk my dog during the day without having to bend over to touch the ground every 5 minutes to guage the pavement's temperature.

>wearing shoes when going out in your own backyard or area around your house
If my feet can handle it in 90 degree weather, so can my dog and everyone else's dog. Get your dogs to toughen up.
/an/ I have a serious question, the apartment below me has fleas and somehow they piggybacked their way up to mine. The exterminator is coming to purge the whole building, my question is can fleas reproduce on a diet of human blood? I have no pets and no rugs in the apartment except for a few small area rugs and I have cleaned and boraxed them to hell and back.
Yes they can and for several months...
>>2454281
I have read that it is near impossible except when conditions are made perfect in a lab environment

Is everything okay with this bird? Why does the neck look so weird?

I was just gonna say it looked like a cat missed the mark.
>>2452896
looks like some tiny species of tortoise beetle
Hi, what is this?
>>2452895
jewel beetle, family Buprestidae.
What is a good brand of canned cat food that has little/no grain/carbs?
I don't give a fuck about "animal by-products". I'd rather feed my cat ground up gizzards and organs than cuts of muscle meat + corn.
>>2452833
>ground up gizzards and organs
Why do people think this is bad? They literally eat the entire body in the wild. If you want realism just buy rats and mice and random largeish insects for your cat to eat lol
>>2452835
Because people project themselves and their preferences onto animals. "Ew, I wouldn't eat a whole rat, brain, asshole and all!" So, they think their pets shouldn't either.
I've seen canned cat food that was literally "breakfast flavored", eggs, ham, and bacon, cheese and sausage. That kind of diet is horrible for a cat, but most normies don't stop to think about it; about an animal's natural preferences.
I would buy rats and bugs but I think it'll be too expensive and I don't want to raise feeders and clean their shit.
