Sister's dog is the right weight (used to be borderline chubby) and eats so quickly, she sometimes chokes and coughs, then proceed shoveling away again.
I tried playing classical music while eating which only helped 2 times.
Put a bone or something in the bowl to make it harder to get to the food
>>2459783
Put a big rock in the middle of the bowl, buy a bowl made to force a dog to eat slowly.

>t. someone who got spanked a lot
who was in the wrong here?
H-HAYAI
Must we have this thread every week.
A week ago we adopted two kitties from some people. They are around 2 1/2 months old. I have a problem with them climbing on my TV furniture and playing with the TV image a lot, because they where allowed to do that at the other peoples place.
How do I teach them to not do that? I'm usually trying to get their attention with strong voice or shoving them from the furniture (its not high up) but it seems they don't really react to it and I don't want them to learn this as some kind of game.
Any tips? pic related is them
Through pain.
Cats can't really be trained through logic because they lack critical upper level thinking skills found in most developed mammals. Instead they operate based off of nociception. If you want it to stop, the most effective method is to subject it to pain. It is the only way it'll learn
>>2459720
I kinda get where you're coming from but I really don't want to hurt them... Can I scare them with water or loud noises?
>>2459721
Yes, water boarding is fine
Any of you know what the fuck is this? It got 6 legs its not a tick
>>2459642
probably just a bedbug
>>2459646
But its on the dog and not in the house
>>2459648
Then where the fuck are you located my dude
I found the world's smallest centipede in my bathroom
I refused to kill it. Would you have killed it?
Yes, if a bug wants to live they have to be cute
>>2459622
why would I kill it? its not exactly bothering me now is it.
>>2459622
I think it would hhave killed me. I have hypertension
Today I just learnt scaly leg mites are a thing, I always thought my silkies fucked genes did this to them, the way it fucked the rest of their legs. I never bread them because of this.
But fuck me, woke up and now this poor girl has these massive lumps on her now.
She's totally docile now, and seems in pain. Is it worth giving her painkillers or should I euthanize her?
>>2459618
Apparently Ivomec can be applied to the birds skin, which will help kill the mites. It is quite bad at this point, but if you do some research I think you may be able to save the chicky
>>2459618
Take a look at that picture and think very hard about how it looks
yes, euthanize it.

should i get my pup a friend? I'm always so sad when i leave my pupper alone when i leave for work so i started taking her to a doggy daycare where she can run around wih other dogs, but when i go to pick her up she's always at the fence waiting for me. When I asked a staff about it they say that she does that all day. Do you think she'd be better off with a friend. Are two dogs really twice the work and money? Pic is of dogget, the name's Chocolate.
No.
If your dog is consistently waiting for YOU at doggy dat care and not socializing with the other dogs then she wants to be with YOU.
If you introduce a new dog to her home there's a 50% chance that she'll hate the situation.
If you have a friend or family member who has a dog and will let the dog over for a night or two so you can see how she handles it you can try that, but don't just jump into that.
>>2459537
Day* not dat.
>>2459537
Thanks, I'll take that into consideration. My neighbor is actually going on vacation for a week and needs someone to look after her pooch so i'll volunteer. Cheers
I have a problem, my rabbits are half-wild, they live outside in my backyard, and they have holes that go under my fence to the neighbors yards, but the usually come back around sunset to eat.
I want to seal up the holes and put chicken-wire around the bottom of my fences to keep them in, but outside it can get to 100 degrees or more, and their only shelter is in their cool tunnel system. What should I do?
Pic related, although they are a lot bigger now.
>>2459501
Make a cool shelter for them.
I have a small wooden hutch, same one as pic, but its still hot as hell in there, some of the metal parts get even hotter and burn if touched.
you could fence of part of your yard, and then dig a hole, put chickenwire all over the bottom and then fill the hole in again. that way the rabbits can have their tunnel system and still be contained
What is this bug? First time I've ever seen one and it almost seemed like it was showing off. Can anyone identify?
>>2459500
Cicada.
>>2459506
Are they aggressive? We have pine bugs where I live and they're quick little assholes
>>2459506
There actually called pine sawyers not pine bugs but I've heard they bite
what insect is this?
i hate insects, but this one was very nice, it has a gold and green pattern.
>pic related
looks like some variant of bed bug
>>2459479
It's a longhorn beetle, which species I'm not sure.
>>2459497
Alright, found it.
It's Xystrocera festiva,
What's your dog's name, and the nickname you usually use for them?
Name: Jackson
Nickname: Nig/Nigger
How about your furry friend?
my dog's name is le edgy phonepost
>>2459466
His real name is Michael, but on the down low I call him Dr. David Duke
>>2459488
lol that's good
What are some good species of snail for a beginner to purchase? Any good sites for snail care info?
>>2459456
Would be interested too.
Found this pic on /b/ and it looks awesome.
>>2459682
They're illegal in America. They're perfectly legal in many European and other countries who have harsher winters that they couldn't survive if escaped/released, like England.
Also it's only a few species of GALS that's highly invasive such as achatina fulica because of the amount of eggs they lay which can be more than 200 in a clutch, others like archachatina marginata (like in this picture >>2459681) only lay between 3-16 eggs per clutch, makes them a lot less invasive.
>>2459456
>>2459681
Neither are really any more harder then the others to be honest, some like to be watered a little more but they're all pretty similar they just come in different sizes. Achatina fulica is the smallest and most common one as pets, they're still a decent size and will be much bigger than your average garden snail but they're still like but the biggest species like achatina achatina or archachatina marginata can grow to almost twice their size. Marginatas are my favourite species personally.
For food they pretty much eat any kind of greens and vegetables, I usually give mine a hand full of the salad mix and some vegetables like a carrot or sweet potato, they also really love mushrooms above all else I've found. Just stay away from things like onions.
They also need a cuttlefish bone at all times, their shells are made of calcium and they won't get enough from the food and will not be very healthy without one and not live very long. So make sure they have access to one always.
There's a lot of websites with this information really and it's all pretty much the same sort of stuff. http://www.petsnails.co.uk is a decent one and can also tell you about different species, what size tank to have per number of snails and all sorts.
Make sure you sift through the dirt for eggs every few days, I usually do it twice a week. Otherwise you'll have a lot of baby snails, if you get a species that lays large clutches.
I love my parakeet so much let's get a parrot thread going
But thats a fish?
I had a slice of chocolate chambord/ mousse cake on my counter, it was about 2x2x2 slice, and one of my 3 black labs are the darn thing.
They've all had a big bowl of dry food before, and this happened about 3 hours ago.
Each pooch is around 90-100 pounds (big labs), I called the poison hotline and they said that there's a pretty low risk of anything happening because it was just a small slice, one of them was able to vomit after I gave them hydrogen peroxide, but the others have had difficulty. I'm not too worried, I've read about the internet and have seen plenty of cases where dogs (smaller than mine by like 20 pounds) have had a decent amount of cake and lived.
Just asking around seeing if anyone has any tips or things to look out for.
(Pic unrelated)
Not a problem. If pup lays down drooling, or starts convulsing get him in. A friend's lab ate half a bar of baking chocolate and had to get emergency stomach pump. Chocolate mousse should hurt them. But look for signs of organ shutdown over the next hour. I doubt you'll see any.
>>2459370
..mousse SHOULDN'T hurt..
>>2459372
Not that anon but with that amount, at the most they might have an upset stomach. They will be fine.
I was at the vet with my 14 year old Labrador today and he's got metastases all over his lung. I'll have to put him down soon to spare him the worst. Feels fucking horrible. Anybody got tips on how to cope with this.
>>2459306
im sorry dude, my 13 year old black lab just got diagnosed with bone cancer in her shoulder
>>2459306
I might be a retard for asking, but could he be put on a respirator? I mean, if my lungs gave out they wouldn't just euthanise me. Maybe machines could take over breathing for a while until stem-cell treatments and other options are weighed up.
>>2459453
It's already ridiculously expensive to do those things to a human, I doubt most of us on here could afford to do it for a pet sadly. Op my 15 year old has bladder cancer, it's rough but putting them down when they start to suffer is what needs to be done unless there are medical options you can take to extend the life and quality of life.
