Maybe, but I think they would wait till the games out before that happened, otherwise it spoils all the alternate forms.

I was thinking that they said they wanted to connect Pokemon Go with the games, what if they meant this? Not actual game to game connecting but connecting the alternate forms of Pokemon in Sun/Moon by introducing them in Go?
I doubt it but still would be a good way to get them out there and known by people.

Bulbasaur is the only good one on the left. Charmander is just a lizard with a bit of fire in his tale. Squirtle is just a turtle who can stand.

On the right is a bunch of creative and varied designs that aren't flawless but aren't based clearly on cartoon archetypes and correspond to many different realistic and abstract concepts. They're also more detailed and deliberate.

Seems like it.

I wouldn't mind if they kept gimmicks like that within their own region.

There was a leak that stated that the starters have 2 final evolutions, one for day and one for night and that Rockruff also has different evolutions when left overnight at certain cliffs in Alola, could be what connects them to each other?.
