I personally consider leak 3 completely baseless and 4 debunked (because of Arcanine on the JP site), but I'm not going to put my personal biases into it. Rattata's typing was also incorrect in the same way Ninetales was incorrect.

4 has been partially right/wrong (Alolan Ninetales being Ice/Fairy instead of Fire/Fairy, and Alolan Rattata being Dark/Normal instead of pure Dark)

Let's talk about Pokemon Crystal.
First game was Blue in 1998 when I was 9. Last game I played was Omega Ruby. I never played Crystal (though I played both Gold and Silver) so I went back and played it on an emulator.
Pretty fun, but going back, I'm realizing how barren and austere the region is. There are not many trainers... parts of the game I remember being longer/more involved as a kid (in Silver) were pretty basic and rudimentary now. I loved the traditional Japanese motif the game had. That was awesome. But as far as features go, the game was honestly a little disappointing. Everything was so much smaller in scope than in RBY. I guess this was because they needed to fit bits of Kanto into the game.
The level curve was also crazy - at the 7th gym, we're still encountering trainers whose Pokemon are below level 30. They did manage to make the experience stretch well... however, after defeating Pryce, and encountering NO trainers on the Ice Path, you end up in Blackthorn City and you're expected to take out Clair's lvl 40 Kingdra (who at the time had a weakness that was not easy to exploit)...
When you get to Kanto, everything has been totally gutted which is disappointing. No Viridian Forest, Pokemon Tower, Rocket Game Corner hideout, Silph, Pokemon Mansion... just too bad. There wasn't really much to do except beat the gym leaders. Also, the trainers here are LESS powerful than the League - this makes sense storywise, but made the trek through Kanto unchallenging.
Looking back, a lot of the story elements which went over my head when I was younger (which I complain about in newer gens) were just as infantile... Ruins of Alph, with the Unowns being letters comes to mind. So I won't complain about stuff like that in newer gens since I'm keeping in mind that these are games first and foremost for children.
One thing I enjoyed about this was the amount of caves and places to explore. This was after I'd already beaten Red and it was still quite fun. (cont)

I disliked how this game was already starting that trend of making the player character the super special snowflake... mostly this came across when you get the Dragon Master's approval by answering an easy obvious quiz, and then everyone says that nobody had gotten the Master's approval since Lance. Yeah, okay.
The thing with Suicune was cool but that also went into it... the Pokemon sensed you and wanted to test you and all that garbage. Not a fan of that. It gets much worse in later gens, though.
Chasing Suicune around was neat, though. It's a shame Eusine wasn't worked into it more... the one battle was underwhelming.
Looking back, I thought the day/night feature was great. Now, I think its terrible. There's no way an ACTUAL day night schedule based on real time is a good idea. And having to wait an actual day before berries grow back... just why.
The Red battle was also underwhelming. I beat him on Set, without using items, with a team of Pokemon at level 60: Heracross, Kingdra, Scizor, Houndoom, Gligar, and Ampharos. Red should have had all his Pokemon at level 100. It took me about 10 hours (so less than a day) of in game time to get them that high... he had 3 years.
The look and feel of the region was the best of any.
I just wish there was more of it.
I played HGSS and they had so much space and capability... but they kept the remakes just as ascetic for the most part. They should have gone all out and made it contain practically two complete games now that they had the storage space.
What are your thoughts on GSC?

Well it's a JRPG so that's par for the course, besides in R/B/Y you could still catch super powerful legendaries capable of leveling entire cities so I'd argue it's always been that way because the game mechanics require it just like all RPGs

How to be able to use fossilmons in FRLG?
I wanna use one of the fossilmons because they look cool as shit, but getting them at level 5 when they were 30 in gen 1 and when your team is at level ~45+ is a fucking crime.
