Not sure, but my guess is that we won't see both. Either they'll keep the old abilities and the old stats, or they'll lose the old abilities and get the new buffs.

The Tapus except for Fini (who's still looking pretty good) are basically the best Pokemon of their respective types and beyond thanks to their Terrain abilities.

In short, Koko becomes the best Electric special attacker despite its base 95 SpA, Tapu Bulu boasts great defensive typing and its banded Wood Hammer hits harder than Victini's V-create, Tapu Lele disables priority (so your fast and frail sweeper can sweep the floors) and is basically a better Mega Gardevoir that doesn't take up a mega slot, and Tapu Fini tanks lots of attacks while making the team immune to status and strong against dragons.
