It's okay, we all make mistakes. I accidentally copied "20th anniversary edition" from your last thread to this one.
Third for Gundam being trash and Gungriffon being cash
>really glad that the thread was more active last time
>kinda not glad that it was because we had a lot of discussion on other mech games, not AC
I am conflicted.

You can only talk about a series for so long before it breaks into other topics.
>>183070847
Armored Core, heh, more like Armored Coffin am I right guys?
>>183070847
You excited for that new AC game?
The new AC game will star extra-dimensional travel and combat.
So, anything pleasant? /drg/ is kinda shit today so I will try to be more present.
>>183079961
ummmm... Armored Core 3 Portable with keyboard and mouse thanks to PPSSPP 1.4.1's mouse support, little janky but not awful.
Garrison: Archangel updated recently and they posted a graphic for a new mech on their twitter https://twitter.com/play_archangel
Rengoku 2 is cool, kind of like a mech game due to the bodypart customization.
No Armored Core news though, not even a Funko Pop.
>>183080328
Boy, just like tumblr and reddit, these are websites I have no idea how they work, glad you could find good stuff on it.
>>183080676
twitter is an awesome place to find AC news and art because the Japanese use it a lot
>>183081449
I know, people find good Danganronpa art (and even good porn) as well there, but I have no idea how it works.
>>183081629
Twitter just lets you take messages from a bunch of different people on the site and organizes it into a single feed for you to read.
If someone is subscribed ("follows") to you, then your messages (tweets) show up on their feed. If you follow them, their messages show up on your feed.
So the idea is that you follow 100+ people that you find interesting, and now you have a constant stream of interesting things to look at and read all day long. Or, if you have interesting things to say, you say it yourself.
The rest of the sites features are just little things on top of that. Like being able to broadcast (tweet) someone else's message to your followers (retweet).or being able to search all the messages.
Searching is where you find good things, because it shows you all the people who mentioned "armored core" around the world recently. You can also limit it to only pictures.
All in all, twitter's pretty simple, they just use dumb names for things that are already called something else.
>>183082885
Ah, thanks.
>>183083048
reddit is just a normal forum (post topics, people reply/common) but you use one account for all of the different forums (Armored Core has it's own reddit, Dogs has it's own, etc. You can make your own) instead of going to different web sites for each one.
Reddit's layout is kind of annoying though, just like twitter's terminology

Speaking of other mecha games, I've started playing Front Mission on the snes, and I gotta say it's a really good looking game for its time.
The 3v1 in Zearm Desert is infinitely easier than the 2v1 in Old Gal. Having the room to maneuver and focus down the enemies was much easier in the desert than dealing with two ACs that specialize in close quarters with no room to maneuver.

So I just saw that Kotobukiya put a news on their site with a Fracture kit painted on the 20th anniversary. I can't read jap so don't know what they are talking about.
I really hope they are going to announce something at this Wonfes since they didn't release/rerelease any AC kit this year.

Just full completed AC2AA as part of my beginning to end non H+ playthrough of all Armored Core games. I'll post my completion image and my ACs tomorrow since it's late and I need sleep.
Also, Ultimate Nineball goes down like a bitch.
>>183135063
im still confused why you label it as non H+ when the norm is non H+
>>183136130
My original playthroughs used H+ at least for AC1, ACPP, AC2, and AC2AA. And then I used OP-I in 3 and SL, so for me it's non H+. But I see what you mean by that being the norm (or what should be the norm). I guess I just assumed that players used H+ more often than not if it was available.
>>183136419

And I'm not sure they'd be wrong.
>>183145459
have you played a walking sim?
All AC games are mech sims (even From Soft calls them sims) but on steam the pre-PS3 games would probably be called a "Platform Shooter" or "Puzzle shooter" similar to Doom or Portal.
>>183145710

while you're out there complaining, here are some other generals that you should go purge, for terrible games that are way less relevant than AC
>>183135063
2 and Q variants were used for most missions. B variant was for missions involving enemy ACs. H variant was for aquatic combat. K variant was Karasawa focused specifically for fighting things in the Lost Field.
On to AC3.
>>183167147
when you're all done, you should go back again and rely on weapons other than the karasawa and machine guns
B is pretty much identical to my first run through AC2. I like Q too.
>>183167420
The Karasawa's ammo efficiency and damage potential is too good to pass up sometimes, since there were no other decent energy weapon options until you pick up the Emeraud laser rifle. More often I'd rely on my pulse cannon and missiles to deal with most enemies so I could save my Karasawa for more important or tougher enemies. If there was a more efficient energy weapon like the 1k damage 100 shot laser rifle in 1st gen or SL, or even the 800 damage 75 shot laser rifle in 3, I'd have used that instead.
>>183168857
>no other decent energy weapon options
the laser rifle that shoots the thin beams and the laser sniper rifle are both really good, but I agree, the karasawa is pretty much the best in all ways in AC2.

I think they only go down if you do a mission for another corporation where you are against one. So if you take a mirage mission where you fight crest, your crest ranking goes down slightly but your mirage ranking goes up by a lot.
They do all max out eventually though, if you beat every mission.

Gotta run some errands and I'll get back in the files.
Where's B+Ranker
Before I actually leave, to open ac3data.bin you'll need the program offzip which I can't link due to the spam filter.
Run it from cmd to see the instructions.
Noesis will open the GIC images and extract the BNDs, or at least most of them.
Try offzip on other games too, it just looks for familiar compression patterns and uncompresses them.
Hope y'all find somethin.
7th part is up you lovely people.

Found some files with content like this and at the end some AC parts, reckon it's AI info?
Some text in it like \data\friend\frnd001.dat iend\comed109.dat NO.69 OX
The parts listed would make it http://armoredcore.wikia.com/wiki/Vector but neither Vector nor Hypnos appear in the file. Reckon they're in frnd001.dat or comed109.dat
Too bad the file structure is just fucked beyond belief though.
>>183400557
And 69 is Vector's place in the Arena roster if you count up from A-1.
Wonder how A-1 and A-2 look. Don't care about A-3, Royal Mist is so dumb looking like get out.

My FME video is finally done. I feel the timing is a bit off in parts when it was exported.
Think I found where the colors is... Not sure if it's actually stored in 0-255 or 0-200, gotta fuck around with values I know.
So Grand Chief, who pilots Hammer and is ranked B-1 is:
(2D 46 32) (64 32 32) (1E 1E 1E) (B4 50 1E) (55 55 3C)
(2D 46 32) (64 32 32) (1E 1E 1E) (B4 50 1E) (55 55 3C)
(2D 46 32) (64 32 32) (1E 1E 1E) (B4 50 1E) (55 55 3C)
(2D 46 32) (64 32 32) (1E 1E 1E) (B4 50 1E) (55 55 3C)
(2D 46 32) (32 32 32) (50 32 32) (B4 50 1E) (55 55 3C)
Then to decimal RGB values
(45, 70, 50) (100, 50, 50) (30, 30, 30) (180, 80, 30) (85, 85, 60)
(45, 70, 50) (100, 50, 50) (30, 30, 30) (180, 80, 30) (85, 85, 60)
(45, 70, 50) (100, 50, 50) (30, 30, 30) (180, 80, 30) (85, 85, 60)
(45, 70, 50) (100, 50, 50) (30, 30, 30) (180, 80, 30) (85, 85, 60)
(45, 70, 50) (50, 50, 50) (80, 50, 50) (180, 80, 30) (85, 85, 60)
Maybe? Gonna try it out and see how it goes.
>>183403305
Next I'm gonna try converting them from 0-255 to 0-200 and see if that helps. Plus this is in Formula Front which has a reflection on it so it might look paler.
In 0-200 it'd be
(35, 55, 39) (78, 39, 39) (23, 23, 23) (140, 63, 23) (66, 66, 47)

>>183404617
Nah I think it stores the 0-200 value and converts it to 0-255 when it uses it?
Anyway, to get the colors to Armored Core 3 Portable ACs in the Arena you gotta use offzip on ac3data.bin and then open the 20KB dat and txt files and look through them for the right Arena number (A-1 is 1, count down) formatted NO. 15 and so on / parts for the AC you want. Some might have different file name extensions for no obvious reason and file size may be a little different.
Might be more ACs in some of the BND files, just gotta extract more.

The PSP games have multiplayer, the PS2 games did not.
PSP also generally uses a lot less resources to emulate, so you can get better graphics on the same hardware. PS2 emulation is processor heavy.

hover legs are called "Hover" in the game. Hovering tank legs are called "Tank" legs.
Also tank legs are generally MUCH heavier than hover legs.
It's not that complicated.
>>183431778
>>183431049
cash doesn't make your AC stronger, it just gives you more options to mix and match parts.
Once you have enough cash to buy a single part of each type, you don't really need more money for the rest of the game, it just makes things more convenient to not have to sell everything before buying new stuff.
>>183436656
Where? I must be blind.
>>183437068
Sort by leg type. Notice how RE/3003 and TRIDENT sits between two other tread-types? That means they're both tanks.
Moving ability for ZMX is also extremely high, it's lighter weight (I think it's the heaviest Hover and Trident is the lightest Tank) and it's ordered adjacent only to other hover types? Yeah, use some common sense about that.
Tanks and hovers show up differently. Most of the games (including AC3 on Ps3 and ACLR portable, no idea why not in AC3) have a line for "Type" where it lists them as either Hover leg or Tank leg.
Easy way to test even if the ordering is too hard to figure out is to just use a back cannon. Hovers have to stop in place while aiming them, tanks don't.

Circle strafing and a very wide lock-on either in arena or the parking lot to give me an advantage against floaty types.

In doing some testing in AC3, I have determined that the reload stat is the number of frames (1/60th of a second) it takes to reload, and the OP-SP/E++ part increases energy weapon damage by 15%.
>>183445253
I'm only B-1, I don't have access to the A ranks yet. Also I'm just virtually always boosting so their bullets go behind me if I move right.
>>183445579
Neat. Good luck with the A ranks. I just finished going through them all myself so I was curious.
I've used pretty much the same fighting style in all games. Zenbu Style : overwhelm them with a barrages of missile followed by a hail of bullets.
>>183445524
This has been known for ages.
And I'm pretty sure reload time is 1/30th, not 1/60th. AC runs in 30fps. Technically it runs in NTSC which is 60 half-frames per second interlaid, but in terms of code it's still treated as 30fps. No AC game runs at true 60fps.

>>183437671
>A-rank without relying on Machine guns and L-arm howitzers
your AC's weapon loadout is one of the most OP possible builds I can think of for AC3 without resorting to H+. L-arm howitzers are less accurate karasawas.

>>183448334
I checked with the bazooka that has a reload value of 60, and it was shooting one shell every second exactly. I know the game doesn't run at 60fps, but the subdivision for the reload value is definitely 1/60th.
Hey Xez, I finally watched one of your FM videos, I cant belive I somehow skipped that game, it looks good; but I have to say, I am soo used to isometrics views on TBS, that I sometimes get weirded out when the camera moves around on the map, I guess is just about getting use to it.
>>183449798

>>183449798

FM4 in my opinion has the best characters and gameplay mechanics out of all the Front Mission games but FM5 wins best story but only by a slight margin.
>>183448492

>>183449798
And isn't unlocked camera movement common in isometric TBS?
>>183450959
well most of the ones I have played usually are a areal view that close up for battle (like fire emblem) or stuff like FF tactics and disgaea, where the best you get is rotating the map, but still remains as isometric.

It's been a while since I bothered with shaders and even then I didn't really understand it, I just looked for patterns in examples and tried to get things to work with trial and error.

High movement ability Hover legs with Pixie2 and EO cores. Use normal movement (not boosting) for basic dodges and use boosting for range control/closing in. >Heat per Second : CWG-HG-80, CWG-BZ-50, CWGG-GR-12, MWG-HG/100, CWG-BZ-30, MWG-RF/220, MWG-SBZ/24, MWG-MG/350, CWG-RF-160, CWG-RF-200
Handguns, bazookas, and the grenade rifle, are the best at inducing heat stress.
>Weight Efficiency : MWG-KP/150, MWG-MG/1000, MWG-RF/220, MWG-KP/100, CWG-MG-500, CWG-SRF-80, MWG-XCW/90, CWG-RF-160, CWG-RF-200, CWG-HG-80
Pulse rifles, the 1000 round MG, and the extended range rifle, get you the most damage for weight.
>Cost Efficiency : CWG-SRF-80, CWG-RF-200, CWG-BZ-30, MWG-SRF/60, MWG-RF/220, CWG-GS-56, CWG-BZ-50, CWG-RF-160, CWG-MG-500, CWG-GS-72
Rifles, sniper rifles, and surprisingly bazookas, get you the most bang for your buck, if you ignore energy weapons.
The most interesting thing I found in all this is that the MWG-RF/220 rifle, despite not having significant DPS, has very respectable damage potential and is incredibly weight and cost efficient, especially if you consider it's low purchase cost as well.

Nice!

i'm just kind of alive you know
>>183533394
My trademark emblem is a sword sticking out of a stone, with the Nineball logo on the front of the stone. It goes with my AC, Excaliber, spelled with an E because it's a play on words.
>>183528942
Did a similar thing with back weapons, but it's a little harder to calculate dps with missile lock time so I calculated burst damage if all missiles connect. I won't go into as much detail this time, but here are my findings.
>Damage Potential : CWC-CNG-300 chaingun and MWC-XP/80 pulse cannon are highest
>Weight Efficiency : both pulse cannons and the 50 round small rocket
>Cost Efficiency : all rockets all day long, followed by small missiles
>DPS : chaingun, large rocket, pulse cannons, and the LX
>HPS : grenade launchers, large rocket, chain gun
>Spike Damage : high lock small missiles, large missile, 4 lock middle missiles
>Spike Heat : high lock small missiles, large missile, dual slot launchers
The 12 lock small missile launcher has horrible missile tracking, so the 10 lock wins out for burst damage, but for speed the dual slot launchers are just best for spike damage and heat. Pulse cannons are super cost effective and have great dps, if you can get around the energy cost (chaingun's cost isn't terrible, but not ideal). I've also found rockets, despite their difficult use, to be very effective for missions in both cost and weight efficiency.

Can you run Last Raven Portable and screenshot it so I can see if the ghosting effect only is on LRP?
Alright surely there's a plain camo texture in the game that it overlays onto the uncolored grey textures, there's no way it has two skins for everything.
If I can find it I can use it however I want on custom textures and it'll fit in visually.
Just gonna blog about it to keep the thread alive.

Shitfaced anon from last night >>183428279
Just beat Nexus by spamming Wyrm and Wyvern and I'm moving on to the next disk (Revolution).
Should I go for 100% completion to get a good build in Last Raven, or will Nine Breaker's parts blow them out of the water?
Finished the AC3 story. Now to start finishing everything else.
>>183552408
y'ain't tried that widescreen hack what been posted earlier?
>>183552149
Nine Breaker doesn't add many new parts, but starts to nerf some of the OP parts (like wyrm) from nexus. LR is the best balanced.
>>183552149
I'd say at least get all the parts from Revolution and get the parts Ninebreaker introduces because Last Raven hides some of them behind some very strict requirements.
>>183553474
>>183552149
Getting parts early won't make last raven much easier though. The difficulty is in the mechanics and enemies, not the limitations on what parts you have. It will maybe prevent you from getting caught out of cash and unable to advance in the missions or arena, but you could always slowly grind the early VR arena instead if that happens.
I can't open pro.coldbird.net for some reason, I don't get an error like server not found or nothing, the it just say Connecting... in the top of the tab for a moment and then it's empty and says New Tab like I never even tried to load a page.

Went to its location in the memory debugger and put in some random values for the first line and nothing changed, that's either not it or it uses a different line of the hundreds in different, non-sequential, locations.
There's got to be a better way that isn't just replacing the textures which will probably replace the recolored graphic but then everyone will have purple boosters.

You don't get anything for doing 100% on Revolution. All the hidden parts are inside the missions. Getting 100% just unlocks every illustration.

>>183615173

>>183616479
I already played a little of the arena (reached the top 30), but I didn't even begin doing those training missions. My AC that I carried over from Nexus just murdered everything in the arena.
My point is that Ninebreaker doesn't have any exclusive parts (well, Nexus doesn't either...), and the training mode seems to take at least triple the time of the arena.
And is it just me, or did they rework the heat formula from Nexus? I got into a few tight spots on the arena (my AC is energy-based), but didn't get raped as hard as I would be in Nexus.
>>183617071
Exclusive no, but it does introduce new parts that will be obtainable in Last Raven. I still stand by the claim that it's more reasonable to just get them in Ninebreaker.
And yes, heat's more friendly in Ninebreaker and Nexus.
>>183617398
Looking at the parts list here, I see that a few of them require S Ranks on Last Raven to acquire, so I think it's a moot point.
That reminds me, I never got 100% on Silent Line. I heard the prize is some handgun that gives ungodly heat, but since I don't really play multiplayer, I never got around to getting it.
>>183617591
Yeah, it's not worth it. I say that as someone who 100% the game on the Ps2, and just didn't care to do it again on the PSP.

Has anyone gotten this to work before?
Hm, I've been lurking for a few days, and I'm really getting a craving for AC now!
The only one I played is AC2. I'm definitely not done with the arena yet, because it's sort of bullshit, but maybe I'll go back to that and brute-force it somehow. I'm definitely in the top 10! I believe the game unlocks all the missions when you're done with the story, so I think I did all the missions too.
Should I play the first three ACs before moving on further? Or maybe AC2AA just to have the AC2 series done with?
I think I'll try and get as many of them as possible, but I'll have to emulate the PS1 games and a few of the PS2 ones.
>>183626582
>Should I play the first three ACs before moving on further?
Not required. In fact, the PS1 games are not really recommended except for nostalgia's sake because they are considerably more clunky and worse graphically than the PS2 games.
>Or maybe AC2AA just to have the AC2 series done with?
That's the logical progression. However AC2:AA is generally harder, and you'll struggle with it if you found AC2 to be too hard.
>because it's sort of bullshit
How so? The arena is usually a very fair test of your build and controls.
>but I'll have to emulate the PS1 games and a few of the PS2 ones.
That's perfectly acceptable, you aren't harming the franchise by emulating since From no longer has the PS2 and PS1 games in print anymore. That means they aren't losing any money, any copies you buy would be aftermarket / resold copies anyway.
>>183626582
Having recently played through the PS1 games, they're fun but incredibly clunky and you can count the pixels.
AC2 arena isn't too bad once you get used to the controls and improve your loadout, but ultimately it's on your piloting ability above all else. The quad middle missile and quad missile extensions can help you through the arena pretty easily along with a decent machinegun if you're having lots of trouble. AC2AA is definitely harder than AC2, and has some significant difficulty spikes, but on the bright side you can finally use an analog stick instead of the d-pad. Stick with AC2 and try to finish the arena, it'll help you in AC2AA when you have to fight enemy ACs in missions.
>>183626582
AC2AA is just plain hard, no matter how you look at it. It has 102 missions (the most out of any AC game), but there are a few battles against ACs that will make your tear your hair out of frustration. It's also the only game of the PS1/PS2 era that has a (infamous) 3 vs 1 AC battle.
>>183627818
I found the 3v1 AC battle to be pretty easy compared to the 2v1 in the city area. Fighting 2 ACs that specialize in close quarters in a tight area is much more difficult than 3 ACs in a wide open area.
>>183627818
> but there are a few battles against ACs that will make your tear your hair out of frustration
Hello
>>183628090
This was the mission that made me create the "bumrush the fuck out of enemy ACs" design. I think I died 15 times trying to defeat it with my main AC (a medium biped).

I remember there were tons of slowdown in that stage. It got better when there was only 1 AC left.
>>183623156
Looking a little closer the hex data in the .psu emblem file doesn't seem to be formatted in the way the emblem extractor jar assumes. I checked the raw data file you can get by converting the .ps2 memcard file into directories, but the hex data isn't large enough. Unless this is supposed to be using my save data file and not my emblem data file... time to try that.

>>183627818
>>183627947
Oh, I heard the PS1 ones were preferred and also faster than AC2. I suppose not, then. I never felt AC2 was too slow anyway.
I didn't find AC2 too hard, but some of the challenges in it seemed crazy. Most missions were pretty straightforward, but I remember one where oyu had to infiltrate a base, and then you got outside and drones and turrets and disorder units would be firing at you from all directions. That was pretty rough.
Also, sometimes it just seemed like I had to out-DPS my enemy and no amount of cleverness or anything would get me through it. Maybe I just never actually understood how to play it though. I beat the final boss using large rockets, which took maybe 5 hits (and felt a bit cheap), but if they didn't connect, it'd be game over for me most likely because most other weapons don't really get the job done. Probably could've handled it better, but I guess my build was no good!
IIRC, the place I stopped at in the arena was against a guy with the dual laser cannons which hit hard and stun you. He'd stunlock me and none of my attacks would come out quick enough to counter him.
I probably just wsn't going about it the right way there either.
As for buying the copies, I just like having them and it's easier to play on PS2 than to deal with emulation and the complications it often brings.
I'm definitely up for a challenge. With the amount of customisation there is in AC, I'm motivated to deal with anything. Maybe I'll do the AC2 arena first though before moving on.
>>183630590
>Maybe I'll do the AC2 arena first though before moving on.
I highly recommend this.
>>183630787
Yeah, I feel it'll be a good learning experience and warmup for the rest, plus I'll have properly finished it then!
>>183630590
>Also, sometimes it just seemed like I had to out-DPS my enemy and no amount of cleverness or anything would get me through it.
We all have those kinds of stories here in /acg/. I beat Nineball Seraph in Master of Arena with two lucky hits from that huge missile (the one that does 9000 damage), and I remember beating Phantasma by getting on top of it.
What I realized once I started playing Nexus, is that you need an AC design just to deal with other ACs. There's no bread-and-butter design that'll work for every mission. So I just made a tank with the back laser cannon, whatever cheap weapons I could get on my left arm, popped out the orbits and went to town. Even the Prototype Pulverizer would die in 3 seconds from the barrage.
>>183451437
Now that I know how the extractor works, I can do this.
>>183627818
Nexus also has a 3v1.
>>183631997
>and I remember beating Phantasma by getting on top of it.
Bullcrap, that counts as cleverness. That's the coolest way to beat Phantasma. It's like AC rodeo except you start off the bull and the hard part is getting on the bull because it stops moving once you do so.
>>183626582
I'll go against the grain here and say the PS1 games are worth playing, but come back to them later. Project Phantasma is especially cool.
>>183633824
There's something special about tricking the AI into doing stupid shit to make defeating them easy, especially when the enemy is specifically an AI.
>in AC1 tricking the Nineball copies to go into a hallway where you're waiting with a pulse cannon
>in AC2AA staying near the area edge to prevent Ultimate Nineball from flying around, backpedal hopping over his blade waves while unloading on him
>>183633824
Really? I just finished Nexus, I don't remember a 3vs1 on it. Do you remember the mission name? There's a stage on 3 or Silent Line where you fight 3 ACs in the same stage, but it's two fights - 1v1, then 2v1.
>>183635175
That's similar to how this one is set up. It takes place in a crater or something and I think you're opposing Crest forces. They drop two ACs to fight you and then a big tank. I feel like there might also be turrets or something.
Can't remember the mission name.
>>183635601
Ah, I remember that one, it's "Ambush Crest HQ Force". I guess they didn't put another 3v1 in a PS2 game because of slowdowns.
>>183633820
kawaii
>>183636579
that's more to do with AC2's graphics engine being just horribly unoptimized. I'm sure AC3 through LR can handle 3v1s just fine,
>>183633824
Oh yeah I'll definitely play the PS1 games as well, at some point.
Also, I've heard a lot of bad things about ACV, but then good things about ACVD. How come? After all, they seem to be very similar. They also seem more like the older games than 4 and 4A, which are of course extremely different.
>>183637225
>Also, I've heard a lot of bad things about ACV, but then good things about ACVD. How come?
ACV was a solid game engine that was plagued by a ton of problems due to being rushed and unfinished (lack of content, poor parts balance, low framerate, online-only features, no hard mode, team-only multiplayer, poorly translated single player that made no sense story-wise). With the servers shut down, you can't tune weapons or fight most of the post-story bosses anymore, which just now makes it a very weak entry in the series.
ACVD introduced a bunch of changes that completely fixed all of those problems, most notably the UnAC system and Hardcore mode, and the servers are still online. Same game engine, but the added features make it a completely improved experience across the board.
ACV is worth watching a playthrough of the story missions to see some of the cutscenes (the voice acting is great even if the story is dumb) but for gameplay its entirely skippable.
>>183637656
>poorly translated single player that made no sense story-wise
what didnt make sense?
>>183637881
The first three story missions all take place at seemingly random times where you fight for what appears to be 3 different groups of people, with no explanation about how you get from one to the other. Around the third or fouth story mission it goes more linearly but I honestly still have no idea what's up with everything before that. The lack of proper briefings before missions seriously hurt ACV's story.
>>183638161
If I remember correctly, the 1st mission is an introductory sample of the 9th mission, The 2nd mission is the start of the story with you working with the corporation, and the 3rd story takes place a year after the 2nd with you fighting for the resistance.
>>183638540
it would be nice if any of that was explained before the mission like they are in all the other games

A lot of music in AC2 was also various electronic music. Some DnB, and techno/trance-ish stuff too.
Also tracks by this guy called Mijk van Dijk. I wonder why he was in so many Japanese games around that time. Great tracks though.

Every now and then new pilot show up in the Arena roster at the bottom and of course they have no chance and I only get like 11k dollars, so... what's the point? Just some added lore? Do I get anything for defeating absolutely everyone at some point?
L-Trigger Boost, R-Trigger Quick Boost
Unstoppable pressure.
>>183652490
Some of them are the consorts from the game.
They're just extra fights that pop up while you're not looking.
>>183652490
They're meant to soften you up when the superboss of the arena shows up. Kind of a red herring to throw you off. think of it like Akira toriyama and his view of powerlevels, and how he didn't want people to judge characters based solely on some arbitrary number.
How likely is it that From does the AC collection? Which games would it include? Let us face it we all know they aren't going to include every single game if they did this.
>>183664025
Probably just AC-MoA, I'd like a complete remaster of everything in 3rd gen, but I doubt they'd do that with 5 game.
>>183664025
One issue is that AC1-AC2AA seems to be a separate timeline from AC3-ACLR, so trying to combine all the games into one narrative might not be possible. Grouping them as two separate collections would be awesome though, or at least doing a remaster collection for each generation.
Garrison: Archangel update
https://indigogaming.itch.io/garrison-archangel
Reworked the boost system and rebalanced some guns.
Another one done, time to move to AC3SL, probably one of my favorites. Luckily, you don't need to S rank all missions to get 100% completion. Once I'm done with all of these I plan on doing a big image with the evolution of each variant I used.
>>183678191
>so trying to combine all the games into one narrative might not be possible
They wouldn't even attempt it. They would do it like Nexus where the AC1 remake missions were just on a separate disc with their own story unrelated to the main disc.
>>183652490
they're consorts that got upgraded to pilots. You need to beat them to get the whole arena unlocked, but if they die in a mission they won't show up in the arena until the end of the game.

>>183681384
100% completion is actually like 117% isn't it
>>183664025
Unfortunately, there's one big reason that re-releases and remasters aren't likely to happen for the older AC games. Too many publishers in different regions, and in order for it to happen, they'd all need to agree to it. And I'm not even sure some of those companies even exist anymore.
>>183689661
I don't think they're bound to their old publishers. I don't know what their contracts look like but I doubt that that would be a problem. Besides, technically, the HD collection is a new game and a new product.
But if they want to release internationally, some questions remain:
Who made the localisation for each Armored Core game and can From get the rights to it, if they don't already have them?
Or will From get Bandai Namco or some other publisher to localise these games anew?
Or will they just do it themselves?
And then there's also the voice acting. Maybe they could reuse the old EN VA, or re-record it, or they'll just use the JP VA, but the latter is apparently also a nightmare to do.

This is the proper title! Although in the West they took out the 3! Which maybe is a good idea unless it's directly related to 3.
I wonder why they went with [subtitle: title] for Silent Line, Formula Front and Another Age though. I mean, it looks cool, but they didn't stick with it. With the exception of SL they always changed it in the West anyway, because of brand recognition maybe. I guess in Japan they don't have to worry about that as much.

>>183753013
The orchestral stuff post-ACLR didn't do it for me. It was nice music, but AC needed more techno beats and industrial tracks. My personal favs were tracks like Monkey Likes Daddy, Milk, At that time, Artificial line, In my Heart, Beat Box, and that one track that plays when you fight Nineball which ditched all regular conventions in AC music and just went full on hard rock.

The customization is pretty shallow, just a few different parts of each kind, but compared to other gundam games it is quite a bit better and closer to AC.
>>183742476
In the west they have a habit of downplaying the numbers because there's no brand recognition. They want people to think that they're playing the first in the series each time because players are less likely to buy something that seems like a sequel to a game they never heard about.
Holy shit the requirements to unlock some of the parts in AC3SL are fucking ridiculous. This game's going to take a while to 100%.
In 3rd gen, is it better to have a high or low 'Reaction Speed' stat on arms? I can't tell which is better for rapid fire weapons.
>>183793524

9th parterino of FM4 is uperino.
https://youtu.be/V3nJvniUZnk
>>183786893
Oh yeah, definitely.
I think it's fine when they do it to games that aren't directly connected. The PS2 Ace Combat games in Europe don't have numbers, but it's fine because while playing them in order is definitely recommended they can easily stand on their own too.
But with the timeline/setting confusion in AC when it comes to the AC1/2, 3 and 4 and V universes, it would've made sense to keep the numbers. Even in Japan they didn't do it really. LR and Nexus don't have 3 in the title either but are technically in the same universe IIRC.
Maybe the assumption is that any game that comes out after a numbered one is connected to it until a new numbered game comes along.
>>183797913
The numbers aren't a reflection of storyline. They're about game engines / save data transfer. Nexus is the one exception because while they did update enough that save data could no longer be transferred, it was still (approximately) the same game engine.

>Also, I've heard a lot of bad things about ACV, but then good things about ACVD.
5 is very different from 4 which made people hate it (it's hard to look good compared to fA) and by the time VD came out everyone got used to it plus of course they polished it more. I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with 5, I beat it a week ago so my impressions are fresh. The idea with long missions with checkpoints/cutscenes was cool, that's something that you won't find in 4 and VD. I liked the story in 5 more than VD, VD largely piggybacks of 4 by introducing the technology from that era a bit and it also hooks you in by revealing technology from 4, so it's like a big mystery, what happened to the world? But the actual encounters were more interesting in 5 I believe. You can dig out some interesting stuff about the world and characters if you play thew side mission. You can also import the save to VD and get all your parts (so don't forget to by everything you can before doing so since you can't carry over the money).

The introduction of AST weapons in SL makes my dps calculations a little more interesting. I'm going under the assumption that the time between shots in the burst is half of the normal reload time. AC1 -> AC2AA is one universe
AC3 -> ACLR is a different universe
Both take place after an event called The Great Destruction
AC4 -> ACfA take place before The Great Destruction
AC5 -> ACVD take place just after The Great Destruction
In AC1 -> ACLR, you are a pilot known as a Raven who pilots the Armored Core robot.
In AC4 -> ACfa you are a pilot known as a Lynx who pilots the NEXT robot.
I haven't played through the 5th gen games yet so I don't know the terminology.

>>183846568

Just to be exact, on 4 you are called Raven, since the MC is suppose to be a ex-normal pilot stuck on a NEXT, as derogative term, other LYNXs dont call him LYNX, but you manage to prove your worth.
on FA you are a full LYNX
>I haven't played through the 5th gen games yet so I don't know the terminology.
There isnt really one, on 5 you are called rookie, and star pilot; and on the future you are remembered as the "Dark Raven"; on VD you are mostly a merc, but with the whole deal of possibly being a dominant and also being the next "dark raven" you could say you claim the Raven title at the end.

Oh, so that's what it is.
>The only time players or people were imortalized in the game were in ACMoA
A shame! It's such a cool idea desu.
Pick the next game for me
Just beat Nexus and Nine Breaker

I mean someone needs to make an AC-specific hack /cheat that replaces the buffer effect with something else so that non-buffered rendering still shows booster effects.
Or fix the ghosting of the HUD. I know other games have CWCheats to fix graphics ghosting.

If you haven't played it yet, LR, since it's a sequel to nexus.
If you have played LR already, Silent Line.

Whoever did that needs to be fired.

What in the actual fuck?

More than just that if you count multiple regions:
>From Software
>Sony (AC1 international)
>ASCII Entertainment (PP Europe)
>Agetec (AC2 through LR games US)
>505 Games (NX through AC4 games EU)
>Crave Entertainment (AC2 EU)
>Metro 3D (AC2AA, AC3, EU)
>Sega (AC4 US)
>Ubisoft (AC4/FA US)
>Bandai Namco (ACV/VD Worldwide)
What if there was an Apple corporation in Armored Core and they said shit like "There are no bad pilots, only bad ACs."
What if we had... fashioncore stuff? Like we all had a theme and we did our best to follow it.
Cheating definitely allowed, get all the parts you could possibly want for the sake of fashion. What about texture replacements?
Chances are PSP versions will be the most popular since PPSSPP would make it way easier and it's the most accessible since it's not tied to physical hardware like 360 or PS3 or computationally expensive to emulate instruction sets like PS2
Just recorded the 11th part in the FM4 playthrough and boy am I fucking salty right now.

There used to be regular Design Contests where people would rate ACs, but nothing of note since the PSP games became emulate-able.
We could do a LR design contest in the next thread maybe.
For designs though, ACV and ACFA by far has the most variety and complexity because of their decal systems. No cheats in any games can match the amount of control you have with those

PPSSPP texture replacement at least but it's kinda difficult knowing what goes where and the low resolution textures is yet another challenge.
Just got a fully complete save from GameFAQs to check out everything Last Raven has to offer, which is a lot. Don't care much for the part going invisible in the preview or the lag from loading in a new item though, or the screen effects.
The random color option is really cool though. Had to move some colors around on the legs and torso but it spit out a pretty good set. I'm so colorful...

Well, how about a different game every time?
>>183933182I actually like it. Heck of a lot better than FA's copypasta bonanza.
>>183941808
>sells parts that the other corporations sell, they just look more sleek, have almost unnoticeable stat changes, and have different names
>and cost twice as much
>and can't be tuned
Perfect.

Old enough that I have age-related anecdotes for the express purpose of dancing around this question and keeping people guessing.

If it is, he's putting a ton of effort into masking his posting style.
Come to think of it, it feels kind of like Relief, but sense tells me that's very unlikely.
Last Raven feels a lot different from 3...
Is it just the different parts?
>>183945563
I got it!
How about every thread we do a different theme and game? We could have people submit their designs and everyone vote on their favorite based on
>Fashioncore
>Practicality
>Emblem
Maybe give it a 0 - 10 scoring for each one and average out everyone's total?
New bread.

Different mechanics, different movement, different a lot of things. Engine is still the same, I believe.
Boosting adds heat now.
Heat hurts less, but will eat your energy and output instead of just your output.
More left hand options.
Break system added for frame parts.
No OP-I.
More things I can't think of right now.
>>183947316
Drop highest and lowest scores, average remainder, don't vote for your own submission. Last one's tricky to enforce unless someone wants to volunteer to be a slave to the design contest.
