ACLR DESIGN CONTEST

For this entire thread any screencaps of Last Raven ACs posted that reply to this post will be up for voting. At 500 posts (or if we hit the image cap limit), entries will close and voting will begin for the last 250 posts. Winners announced in the next thread. Pics can include just the AC, or the AC plus the emblem.

IN GAME IMAGES ONLY. You can use an emblem replacer or any cheat you want but you can't submit artwork.

Each ACs will be graded and rewarded separately for:
>Aesthetic: Purely on the paint, parts, and other design features
>Practicality: How good is this AC at combat? H+ is allowed.
>The story / creativity behind the AC. This includes pilot name, AC name, emblem, and how well it fits into the ACLR universe.

If the thread dies, we'll carry on the post counts to the next one.

ACLRP's vertical look sensitivity is driving me nuts, like I'm scared to just accidentally nudge the stick and then it's all gone. Horizontally it's fine.

Is it just overall sensitivity in PPSSPP and turn speed is limiting the horizontal aiming? Gotta mess with this, this sucks.

>>183948247
No theme or anything? Anything goes this time around?
>>
>>183948409
No theme, anything goes as long as it's ACLR. Better to have lots of entries than to restrict people to a specific theme.

>ACLRP's vertical look sensitivity is driving me nuts, like I'm scared to just accidentally nudge the stick and then it's all gone. Horizontally it's fine.

what buttons are you using for vertical looking?

Horizontal turning is restricted by turning speed but your up/down sensitivity should be about the same as your forward/back/left/right movement senstiivity. It sounds like maybe your controller's buttons overly sensitive from the Xinput wrapper or SCP server.

It might be also that you notice the vertical sensitivity more because LR is widescreen, so there's less space on the top and bottom.

I'd just let people vote for their own and use a google form that limited one vote per IP.

I forgot how great the AC3SL missions were. Some of them long with multiple parts, one of them where you have to avoid the onslaught of the orbital satellite cannon, one where you have to map an area by exploring. The mission design is some of the best in the series.
>>
>>183948247
>Good idea
Hell yeah.

So how about themes after we test the waters with this first build contest? Nothing too restrictive, mind you, but broad subjects that'll keep everything fresh and creative.

How do these sound?
>AC:V - Heroes of Justice
Base your AC around a Super Hero or "Sentai" theme

>A3 - Psst, Nothin' Personel Kid
Make the most edgy and impractical mech possible. Red and black a must

>AC:FA - Tiger & Bunny
Make an AC based on a real-life company or brand along with their respective logo (i.e. Coke-a-Cola, Betty Crocker, Taito, etc.)

>AC: Formula Front - Nippon Ichi
Attempt to recreate a mech of your choice from another franchise

>>183965280
It's an automatic missile intercept system. Sometimes you'll see some blue laser coming out of your chest and taking a missile out. That's it.
>>
>>183965098
I agree, but what jarred me most was not that there was a chaingun on your chest (which can be cool depending on what you're building), but that it turns out it's actually an APS system, not an actual offensive weapon. The barrel on most of them (especially older gen ACs) are way too huge and long, you'd expect they were autocannons.,,

ACV did sort of remedy this by taking out the core-embedded VS missile and added the CIWS shoulder part, but fuck man, the time we get the separate CIWS is the AC where you can only equip 1 shoulder unit?

Come on, From. It's (was) 2013!

>>183965823

>>
>>183966093
What? You could very well equip 2 of any shoulder units you wanted in at least the first three gens (I never played AC4 so I would rather not venture an assumption, but it's likely that the same is true there).

How could you forget the godly aesthetics of Multi-missile + Grenade launcher? For shame, Raven.
>>
>>183966115
Silent Line, I think.
>>
>>183966249
Shoulder, not back units.

>>183966115
It's in every game after AC3, except for Nexus, Nine Breaker, and LR.

SL has consorts and lets you create your own AI companion.

AC4 and ACFA have consorts

ACV and VD let you create your own AI or pick an AI NPC. They don't take a cut of your pay but you have to pay their repair /ammo costs.
>>
>>183966216
I will try to post something tomorrow.
>>
>>183966891
Oh, that's right. I meant back units. Wait, that means ACV actually doesn't have back units at all. Fugg, that perspective sounds much worse...
>>
>>183967319
ACV swapped back units for ready position. Same concept except you can't swap them for arm units in mid-battle, you had to purge them first if you wanted to access the arm unit for that arm. But in exchange you got bonuses for kneeling, either higher defense or higher stability.
>>
>>183967474
I miss bringing more than 1 type of missile though... A shame since they added some nifty new types like the AS and VTF missiles.
>>
>>183967708
what about using dual shoulders arms so you can equip 2 missiles types?
>>
How is it that so many people have positive things to say about armored core and yet... the sale numbers suggest that these people have never played the games?
>>
>>183968198
As I said, using 2 shoulder arms just doubles the same shoulder unit you picked.

Which can be worse for missiles, because, for whatever arcane reason, equipping missiles on 2 shoulder units doubles its launch capacity, but _NOT_ its ammo store.
>>
>>183968410
Piracy?
>>
>>183968410
Because most of Armored Core's sales were pre-internet culture and multiplayer, meaning that aside from being influential/innovative on a lot of other mech games, they never really got media coverage outside of Japan.

Now that dark souls is out, a lot of people are going back to look at the franchise but there's no new games being sold. The lack of any PC support (where PC is the most popular platform for dark souls) doesn't help.

AC is still niche popular in Japan though, it's second only to gundam in terms of mech game popularity.

The only games you could even buy to support the series are ACV and ACVD, and they're already 4/5 years old and they don't look anything (at a glance) like the "peak" of the series, so most people that praise AC are just emulating it or talking about their memories on PS2.

and you only get to play multiplayer 3 times per day for free, you can pay for more
and you have to buy a single-player ticket to play the campaign, not free in any way
>>
>>183969487
>>183969865
Okay, okay, I hear you. Now add this:

Arena.

Players bet cash and parts. House (that is, the game) adds ~50% to the stakes. Winner take all.

Spectators can also bet on matches, but cash only.

Yay/Nay?
>>
>>183970020
Can't happen. Literally gambling, which ranges from frowned upon, to straight up illegal, depending on where you live. Unless you mean in-game cash.

That aside, though, I'd be down for it. Would make people put their money where their mouth is.
>>
>>183970020
>>183969234
Nah, here's how you should do it:

Parts can be purchased from the shop based on how much favor you have with a particular faction (including multiplayer matches) but all parts are not unlocked simultaneously. To unlock all the parts with one faction you lose access to parts from another faction. You can buy as many copies of the parts as you want, but the shop doesn't always have them for sale if you aren't favored by the manufacturer

But give parts durability. Even after repair costs are paid for, eventually they stop working if you take too much damage.

That way players are forced to switch factions often to build up a large variety of parts, or spend a lot of time in a single faction to get access to rare ones.
>>
>>183970020
If we're talking mmo style looting then I would be down with a f2p AC with missions giving cash, or parts. But I don't want microtranscation p2w mechanics in the game.

Just add special color palettes and skins for your weapons or parts that you can buy with real money so it keeps the updates and servers alive.

And, a arena gambling systems sounds fun as fuck and it's perfectly legal as long as the items and credits won aren't able to be sold for real life cash.
>>
>>183970616
>Just add special color palettes and skins for your weapons or parts that you can buy with real money so it keeps the updates and servers alive.

literally what they did with ACV/VD and it worked well. Lots of people bought the cosmetic DLC, especially for extra garage slots and operator voices.
>>
>>183970493
>>183970616
I really liked the parts tuning system in AC3, and I could see a system where each company specializes in a specific kind of tuning, aside from the parts they produce. Like Crest can tune your head's DEF and AP up to 10x, but can't tune its energy efficiency, camera performace, etc more than 2x, the opposite is true for Mirage, while Kisaragi specializes in special tuning, like heat consumption, missile guidance, jamming efficiency, and so on.

It'll allow some leverage for hybrid-builds, with mid-tier equipment of 2 or more corporations, but has access to maximum tuning for their parts.
>>
>>183969234
>>183970020
I'm not very keen on an F2P AC game, t b h. Usually, that means it's online-only or something, and what that means for AC, or really any game of that kind, is one day, the servers go down and you can't play no more.

Meanwhile, I can still play stuff like Master of Arena whenever I damn well please. Sure, no one will play with me, but that's what single player is for.

And that's another thing I find that's usually missing in F2P games. They're usually multiplayer exclusive, which is really not AC's forte, though ACV showed a bit of promise in this regard.

>>
>>183976874
There's no difference between a pirated and legitimate copy of Last Raven Portable. If you bought your own disc and copied it as an ISO to windows, it would be identical. It's not like a PC game where you need to crack or use some key to get past the DRM, all PPSSPP does is use a file on a hard drive instead of a disc inserted into a disc drive, but it's the same information.

I don't know how you would copy a PSP disc to PC but I'm sure someone out there has made a tool for it so you can make backups of your game discs.

Alright, got a lightweight quad with the thousand round machine gun and the gatling gun with the power comparable to a rifle and on the back a lightweight linear rile and a chaingun with improved power, with the widest WS FCS and the VULTURE2 with lowered booster heat and most everything tuned for cooling and energy output, optional parts for wider lock-on and better movement, and the hover boosters.

I think I got a good AC? I'm fucking up the test AC pretty good and I'm moving faster than I can easily control since the analog stick doesn't seem to provide slow turning if I just move it a little bit. I turned down PPSSPP's sensitivity and I'm using the analog stick in ACLR's controls for turning and looking up / down, it's weird. It's only ever nothing or everything.

This is my AC CICADAHAWK

In game there's stars around the name to fill in space, hope 4chan doesn't strip the unicode.

It's outfitted with the B03-VULTURE2 booster for high boost power at a lowered charge drain in exchange for heat (less than VULTURE), which is handled by boosted cooling through tuning and hasn't been an issue. The FCS is the widest WS available to aid in high-mobility short-range strafing and is in-tune with my left and right arm weapons, which are the 1000 round WR04M-PIXIE2 and rifle-strength machine gun CR-WH79M2. The G02-MAGNOLIA generator keeps CICADAHAWK powered for extended periods of booting and continued hovering through the CR-E98HB auxiliary booster which helps combat flying enemies and locate enemies moving on the ground. On it back is the low-weight linear cannon and the improved attack power chaingun.

Much like a cicada hawk my combat style involves aggressively rushing and circling the enemy, and with the auxiliary hover booster no one is safe on land or in the air, paralyzing the enemy with a barrage of shells until I can bury them with linear cannon shots. The chaingun provides additional power against slower units that don't need to be crippled to be killed.

My aesthetics and playstyle are heavily inspired by the cicada hawk, an otherwise gentle giant wasp that ruthlessly hunts its prey, paralyzing and burying them. Cicada hawks are very common in my area and I watch them whenever I get the opportunity, seeing them roam around fields, inspecting the dirt and following trails, sometimes carrying cicadas larger than their own body.

My pilot name is HotGrits, a reference to the local cuisine and what remains of my enemies: smouldering pieces of gristle.

My emblem is the wasp, a quick and unforgiving predator.

this is how you're supposed to describe all the stuff right, it feels so corny

The running trend behind all AC games is the armor and weapon customization, not the fact that they are mechs.

The entire point of armored core was letting players pick their own controls and game play style by giving them trade offs between things that were unable to be changed in other games, like how fast you move or how much you can carry. Fitting all those parts onto a single game disc was armored core's main innovation. Where other games maybe had 2 or 3 stats to trade off of, armored core had hundreds.

The only reason they used mechs because robots were easier to develop since they used fewer polygons (which allowed them to make the game third person instead of first person), and once they got better at developing they started applying those ideas to non-mech games.

It's the ol' DPS race huh. Fine by me. I almost got her a few times but she is a ridiculously good shot with her sniper rifle from all distances and she is able to manoeuvre behind me in a head-on engagement because she's just faster. Missiles aren't great because she has missile interceptors, as do I, but mine don't always work. ;_;

It feels really good to hit her with the blade though, it does great damage! It's just very rare that the opportunity arises.

I think I am using probably the best radiator there is, so with the current build I think I should be able to do it. My weapons just aren't great. Maybe rockets could help, but precise aiming at the PS2 resolution is a tall order.

>>
>>184043232
Tried a lot of different ones. Almost got her a few times in the dark one with the starry sky by getting a few shots in and blasting off behind cover or just far away from her.

I think my best chances lie in the dome. It's pretty enclosed so missiles are rather shit there and aiming rockets or whatever, and hitting blade attacks should be easier to do.

I also discovered today that overboosting is actually very useful. I don't think it's ever been useful in the story and it's pretty underwhelming, but as soon as you strafe it becomes incredible. Can't believe I've been missing out on that.

Lore time. AC Rising Star is the definition of style over substance. The product of a botched marketing campaign set up by the producers of a now defunct idol group. After seeing the overlap between arena fans and idol groupies, Rising Star was sent into the arena to advertise. With it's NIOH parry blade and the REMORAH auxiliary booster it blindly forces itself at enemies while launching a wall of bullets with SILKY EN Machinegun. Without backing from the production company the Raven in control of Rising Star is simply "doing his best".

It looks like Japanese gamers and US gamers are probably in identical belief about which game is best. Maybe there's more emphasis on ACFA over ACLR, but FA, VD, and LR all make the top 3.

I should normalize the favoite game results along with the ones that people played though. LR is 3rd favorite but has a lot fewer players.

>>
>>184055426
It's a bit more complicated since AC4 drastically changed the fanbase both over here and over there because it was primarily sold and marketed for the 360 in the US, yet ACFA was hugely popular in Japan. V was popular among dark souls fans, but they didn't play any other games in the series (including VD).

I would guess that this is also biased in favor of V/VD since people who didn't play those games aren't as likely to be keeping up with the series.

I played the HIGHMACS simulator pretty recently and realized that it would be pretty cool to have an option for something similar in the next game. I like having the option to have a cockpit view, either like pic related or something like battletech where the camera is sitting inside the cockpit as apposed to mimicking a screen.

After playing the highmacs sim, i realized that I hadn't played a mech game that had cockpit but controlled like AC.

What do you guys think? Does a cockpit view go against the design aesthetic of AC?
>>
>>184061321
yeah, AC needs body awareness for movement and dodging. not opposed to it being added though, just not as the main view.
>>
>>184061473
Id never want it for the main view, but maybe like in the third gen with an optional camera setting. Something like having multiple camera feeds to have a bit of awareness could help as well. I dunno, I just want the sim aesthetic with the arcade feel. I do agree that trying to maneuver in levels in 5 would be more difficult in first person though.
>>
>>184061321
I tried the 1st person view in ACLR. True, it looked like a pretty fun feature on the outset, but with it on, I can't maneuver, I can't seem to keep myself facing the enemy and I can't dodge anything but the slowest of missiles.

Maybe if the next AC, we're all only piloting MTs, this would be a good idea, but anything faster than that probably won't work.

I don't think it does, but it does go against the gameplay. AC's fast-paced nature and a focus on 3-dimensional combat is really hard to control in first person. The wider FOV offered by third person is vital for a game where turning speed is restricted and targeting is dependent on where you are looking.

In defense of my cockpit fetish, I will try and post ways in which it would be feasible in AC.

I think in regards to the hud/camera layout from my previous picture (>>184061321), it could make up for the lack of fov by having smaller camera displays in the corners of the screen in the same vain of the cameras they had in AC4 that would focus on targets or follow missiles but instead would show flanks or other areas, Idk I'm not totally married to this idea. I think that this method would be the least compatible with the direction AC has taken.

If there was a full cockpit view implemented (a la Mechwarrior) I don't think that fov would be the biggest deal. In my imaginary version of ACV that has a cockpit, there are 3 screens or so of view which matches closely to what the fov would be for third person (I'm okay with losing a little bit of fov for the sake of having a cool view point). I think having a similar sub screen on a corner which shows what the third person view could also be included and would help with keeping up with incoming fire. I also imagine this cockpit view to have options for personalizing layout similar to how you could add elements to the hud of third gen ac. I would also have the weapons "visible" but they certainly wouldnt take up the majority of the screen.

This is as much as I can think of /clearly/ right now. I agree that the first person view in 3rd gen was not good, but I just love cockpit view. Its the same with flight sims or racing games.

>smaller camera displays in the corners of the screen
This doesn't solve the main problem though, which isn't a lack of visibility but is a lack of easy spacial awareness.

In a racing game, cockpit view works because all your spacial awareness is -forward-. You don't move backwards or to the side.

But in AC, most of the movement is lateral, you're circling around people or trying to navigate around buildings and obstacles. That means you need to be able to see what's to either side -before- you hit it and lose momentum. That's what first person doesn't offer.

For jousting, first person view might actually be more useful.
>>
>>184074537
Let me add my thoughts on how to implement a feasible cockpit view for AC. First of all, the camera will need to be completely decoupled from movement.

It should be possible to quickly look around you without having to turn with the AC (or perhaps this function could be restricted to head parts with advanced cameras, i.e. Panoramic View would be a special statistic now.

Perhaps the movement could still be tied to the camera, but only in that your AC will try to face where you are looking at, but at the speed that it is able to. This needs to come with some HUD markers as to where your body is currently facing, where your weapons are pointed at, etc.

The biggest problem with that will be how massively jarring the new movement controls will need to be. Basically, if the Camera will be decoupled from movement, so will the player's perception of "forward".

Either the forward control will steer your AC towards where your camera is pointing at (i.e. if you're looking straight to the right, the effect of pushing forward on your controller will be to strafe right from where you are facing) -OR- the forward control will push your AC forwards based on where it is facing. If you couple this with the suggestion above that the AC will turn slowly to where your camera is looking at, it will result in a sort of parabolic boost, where ACs fly a bit like planes, trying to follow their camera facing while they strafe each other.

That does it for movement, but combat is a completely different beast.

Finding your enemy should be slightly easier if you have panoramic view, but in this theoretical AC, turning speed will be king, as it will determine how fast and how often you are able to bring your guns to bear on other ACs while avoiding them doing the same to you.

Perhaps a cool little addition to this AC would be a drone part, similar to the one in ACV which can give a tiny PIP which shows essentially the 3rd person view God intended for AC.

AC3 has a lot of cheap enemies in the arena in the higher ranks so it ends up becoming a damage race over anything, Ace and Exile being the worst offenders. You need to output as much dps as possible, so machineguns and missiles unfortunately are your best bet. I love the MWG-XCB/75 for missions, but it alone just doesn't have the dps in the arena. I too have been going through all the games, and as cheese as the AC3 arena is, it's nothing compared to some of the arena in ACMoA.

Actually, there's no H+ or cheating involved with AI aiming. They just always turn toward your location and always try to keep you in their view. If you out-turn them, they can't aim at you.

They do have uncanny levels of no-lock-on aiming but that still lacks tracking and most enemies don't use rockets anyway.

Also, try a shield heavy with EO cores. EOs are great for fighting permanent flyers since they auto-track, and even hit enemies when they're beside/behind you.

laser blades on quad legs are basically spears. They stab forward for huge damage, especially if you use the longest blades since the entire hitbox goes into the enemy.

Mmmmmm... there's no stupid-ass blur shit in the main menu, maybe if I dump the RAM here, and go into the AC test and dump RAM there, I can check the first chunks that change and see what opcodes those addresses are in the disassembler...
>>
>>184154210
I posted though.
>>
Just finished recording the 12th part of FM4, get ready for a hour long video.
>>
I just started playing Last Raven, and I'm a little lost on damage values. Is the game just too hard, or is my fuckhuge tank taking 4000+ damage per second something normal? I went into all the "vs. AC" missions, and stopped in the one against Evangel, because he just bodied me in two seconds.

Also, does damage on a part accumulate over stages, or does it reset? I ask because I can see parts being damaged at AC Training, and I don't want that.
>>

>tfw Jack-O sends an e-mail saying only 10 or so Ravens are alive

>>
>>184161635
Depending on the weapons they're using, yeah. You may be in a tank, but you still need to be dodging as much as possible.
>>
>>184162640
I mean, when I converted my Nine Breaker data, it said all parts would show up as "Used". Does it mean they have reduced AP value or something? Because I dominated the arenas in Nexus/NB with this tank, but that first AC (Bolt) almost devastated me in three seconds. I got shot twice and only had 2000 AP left. Just thought "WTF?"

Also, I remember someone posted a design that carried you through the VR Arena. Is it that "Lobster" design?
>>
>>184162920
Nah, used just means they have crap for sell value.
But yeah, Bolt does that. You probably have the same gun he does, it's a dual back unit. Use it some, it's kind of ridiculous.
>>
>>184162920
Bolt has an LX (the back laser cannon), that's why he does fuckhuge damage. He's by no means an easy first opponent - you probably got lucky you defeated him on your first try.

A thread or two ago, someone said you am play gods.
This is the repercussion.
>>
>>184165174
>>184163737
there's also another major change. Before AC4, if you boosted you always drained the same amount of EN. Recovery only affected how fast it went back up when you were done boosting, so that meant the energy bar always went down if you were in the air. Permaflight was achieved by boosting in short bursts and recovering your energy between them.

But in AC4 you regenerated energy while boosting AND while not boosting, so if your regen was higher than your drain you would gain energy even while in the air.

Cripes, finally finished the emblem.
>>183948247
This is Tyrfing, or at least a close enough version. Some parts may have changed because I think they look cooler. Named after the most radical sword that probably never existed.
So basically, get close, which isn't hard because Dingo2 and 83TP are very dumb parts, and then magdump the dual Nyx with their insane fire rate and grouping. No back units, gotta go fast, extension shields for defense and for showing off the emblem more, and not shown are the LB4 and the revolver in the hangars.
So then I b.s. a bio or something, yeah?

Sir Otis used to be a nut. Once one of your wild conspiracy theories turns out to be correct, people tend to stop calling you a nut. It also doesn't hurt when everyone that knew you as a nut dies horribly. Sir Otis used to sit around in his house most of the day "researching" the various invisible, extraplanar, and subterranean forces that guided the course of the world. A forum here, a radio show there, Sir Otis was always up on the latest news. The real news, that is, not the news being run by the shark princes. Kind and chivalrous at heart, Sir Otis was always trying to enlighten everyone around him so that they would be ready for the uprising, but they always spurned him. Laughed at him. Called him a nut.
Well, who's laughing now?
The guy with the quadruple reinforced bunker who survived the end of the world, that's who.
In this post-apocalyptic hellscape, Sir Otis sets off in his noble black and gold steed, named after a mighty sword, to cut down the wicked and the oppressive. Just don't tell him the actual story behind the sword.

I can't tell if Last Raven Portable with PPSSPP set to read to memory instead of buffered rendering is the correct look because it's *really* extreme "motion blur" but also why would it be so much different.

Still working on removing the blur, real tough. I figure it's just feeding the last frame into the current frame over and over but I can't find the bit of code doing it. Or at least I can't properly disable it to prove it's doing it.

I'm finishing Last Raven, so I will ask before starting 4 and FA. Does it have the same system as Last Raven (where you can retry a stage), or is it the same system as the other games, where if you fail a mission, it counts as "failed" and only appears in the next playthrough?

Every game after Nexus allows you to retry stages if you fail. Before Nexus (excluding AC2:AA) failing caused you to lose money but still advance, except in the case of "important" story missions.

A little closer to dealing with motion blur and bloom in ACLRP.

So if I switch from buffered rendering to read to memory and enable dump new textures it'll dump what appears to be data for the motion blur layer and I can replace them with PPSSPP's texture replacement. It looks like shit and boosters have a black oval (instead of the disabled buffer effects black rectangle) but if I can figure out what's altering 0400000000000909 and 0408800000000909 in the disassembler then I can maybe stop this shit.

Only issue is those aren't the actual locations in the memory as far as I can tell so I have to figure out how to convert that to something useful.
>>
>>184287579
Okay I understand now, the filenames are 3, sometimes 4, parts.

Address + CLUT + Hash (+ Mipmap)

First 8 characters is address, next 8 is CLUT, next 8 is hash, and if there's an _# that's the mipmap level.

Alright, I hope I can use this info.

It only triggers when I use boost though, you'd think if it was related to the always-present motion blur ghosting shit it'd just get constantly triggered so... this probably isn't it.

Also I haven't been able to meaningfully alter it.

In 4 if you fail it dumps you back into the stage select so you have to load the level again (really annoying). In fA they really cleaned it up so if you fail you can just press retry without full reload, also you can pause and select retry. That simple convenience made me S-rank fA. In 4, I beat hard, but I got tired of reloading missions and clunky parts management very quickly. Still love the game just as much as fA though.

The rank standards for S are a lot more relaxed in FA too. Some missions (Marche Au Supplice) in AC4 are REALLY hard to S-rank.

If you're talking about Raging Torrent IV, it's not 3 ACs, but 1 AC and 2 MTs. Those MTs (Owls) are really annoying too, since they come with ECM (jams radar and lock-on). I usually kill the MTs with the laser blade.
>>
I'm playing Last Raven too, and I think I just realized I was playing the last three games (Silent Line, Nexus, Nine Breaker) in a really dumb way. I usually choose a light/medium biped and only use the arm weapons (usually KRSW + Blade), but no back missiles. I started using missiles again in LR, and it's weird how effective they are against almost everything. I feel really dumb now, because the game is really made to be played with missiles, and I gimped my gameplay because I wanted to S-Rank everything with the Karasawa and Moonlight.

Really liking Last Raven so far, how the missions are quick and fast, and the surprises that appear in them, like the Pulverizers or a second AC.

I finished it 5 times already (in 2 days!), and every time I discover something new. I thought only the main 3 (Evangel, Jack-O and Zinaida) would die differently depending on your actions, but I actually managed to kill Mumu in two different missions - once on the convoy mission, then in one of the final missions (of another path).

Also, in Jack-O's path, is it Zinaida that thrashes him before you arrive? He said "she was here already", so I think he meant Zinaida.
>>
>>184307651
Zinaida ending gives a little more to infer with, but that's doubtful. He meant that she went on to destroy the Internecine. He probably took that damage holding off a Pulverizer.

>>
>>184307651
> and it's weird how effective they are against almost everything
AI are bad at dodging missiles. That's one of the reasons why H+ includes better AMS systems, but MTs lack AMS altogether. But yeah, you are meant to switch between back and arm weapons based on the situation/range. Usually missiles are far better at longer ranges. Karasawa and moonlight are powerful, but they're just tools. If you don't use them right (or the situation doesn't call for them) they're not that much better than other weapons.

>I finished it 5 times already (in 2 days!), and every time I discover something new.
I've been playing it for a decade and I still don't know how the mission pathing works exactly in LR. It's really unique and there's a lot of details to discover, especially with how NPCs continue to go on missions that you don't take, leading to different side stories implied by the NPC descriptions, like how if you don't attack evangel or zinaida at camp forthered, they fight instead and presumably evangel or the quad/biped pulverizer shows up and kills her, which is why Evangel is so convinced he's a dominate when you fight him later: he killed zinaida and doesn't consider you a threat by comparison.

>Also, in Jack-O's path, is it Zinaida that thrashes him before you arrive? He said "she was here already", so I think he meant Zinaida.
Ahab's right. The Jack-O path is an inversion of the Evangel Path, where instead of Evangel sacrificing himself to send you to the internecine, Jack-O sacrifices himself to send Zinaida into the internecine. That means that it was one of the pulverizers that damaged Jack-O.
>>
>>184308902
Maybe I forgot, but doesn't Zinaida send that e-mail (about being disappointed in you and Evangel) in every path that isn't hers?
