I'm rather proud of myself. I never was into painting as I always found it tedious at best, I take HUGE year+ breaks and yet now I feel like I can do this. I usually go full OCD on even a single trooper, taking 6+ hours to do one and just barely tabletop standard. Now I took on 4 FWs in the same amount of time WITH breaks and i could've cut off another 40~ minutes cause I basecoated the wrong shade of green.

I'm fucking stoked. The success is making me want to paint even more. I'm actually going to have a fully painted army, then I move on to the next.
>>
I entered this model in a painting competition a few weeks ago, and while I didnt win, the store told me some random guy wanted to buy my model for $50 AUD, which I accepted.
>>
>>52442939

Nice! Usually a sign you can start taking (low level) commissions. $50 is about an appropriate price to buy that, I'm a middling painter and usually charge $25 for my services.
>>
>>52443128

They look clean theres no denying that.
But you lack contrast on parts of your pallet. The gold for instance, you have just edged it it seems, and it lacks any real depth.
My recipe for gold is
1. brown base
2. Gold
3. Agrax
4. Re-gold (remember to thin your paint and stay out of the recesses!)
5, ad a tiny dot of silver to the gold
6. repeat stage 5 about 2 times more
7 edge with the brightest highlight
7. pull out pure silver and "dot" the extreme highlights of your edge highlights.

This will give deep recesses, and high points that will give the model a good contrast between shades and highlights.

Apart from this I also would thin the red down a bit more, you can see the paint streaks, this is extra visible on larger surfaces such as these tanks.

But as I said, its nice and clean at the moment, but for Forge world expenses such as this, you should really not only aim to do your best, but to do even better!
>>
>>52444184
Interesting recipe. Any picture of the results you get with them?
>>
>>52444184
Honestly I truly need to take pictures with an actual camera and not my phone. Much of my work is lost in the pics but honestly looks great in person.

It's very frustrating.
>>
>>52444184

Is there a reason you use agrax over Reichland fleshshade? I prefer the redder tone it gives personally.
>>
>>52442939
>>52443128
Just curious, how do commission painters even make money? 50AUD for that model is what, 2-3 hours of average salary? I bet the model took longer than that to complete, and that's not counting the materials required to make it.

It's not just this example either, I see commission painters selling boxes of fully painted models for 2x-3x the price of the box itself, how can that possibly be profitable? Do they just work 12 hours a day to make up for the shitty pay?
>>
>>52444400
Local commission painters are probbably just barely scraping by with around minimum wage. The big studios on the other hand have their offices in shitholes like Poland where the average wage is like €700 a month.
>>
>>52444400

I don't do it as a primary income or anything. Mostly I just paint models for other people in my D&D circles. They provide the mini (typically) and I spend 2-3 hours painting it. If I have to buy it they cover those costs. Not great money, no, but it's a nice way to get some drinking money on the side. But yes, unless you're the absolute cream of the crop the income is typically pretty shit for a primary job.
>>
>>52442510
Good job. Keep it up anon.

Not the best of pictures, but heres a snapshot from my phone.

>>52444280

Well, it all depends on what you're aiming for. the Fleshshade has a lot more red in it, and is not as stark as the Agrax. But you can even experiment with purple and pink to get exiting reflections to your gold. I recommend watching SchnauzerFaceMinis on YouTube for some exiting "new thinking" when blending colors.

>>52444221

Well, as I said, it looks good. But I personally would prefer it if it was darker shades on it. heh, we all have that problem, I think I took like 6 pictures for pic related to even get close to "reality", frustrating as hell!

It's probably just a hobby thing for most people rather than a proper income, but what I don't get is why people hire others for painting their stuff in the first place. Takes away a large part of the fun in the hobby, doesn't it? For me the building/sculpting/painting of the miniatures is lke 95% if not more of the time I spend on my warhammers (not counting shitposting on /tg/ that is)

I fucking hated painting my stuff for the longest time. Loved assembling, main reason I was in the hobby, but painting just felt like a chore. Painting didn't become something I like until I started making it routine.

Some do volume. If you really get it down with airbrush, base colors, wash, edge highlight, you can crank out a squad a day or even more

Others have taken to twitch streaming. If you have the personality for it and are willing to put in the effort to entertain people, twitch can be very lucrative.

Why did you make your life so complicated?

When I bought my first box of RTB-01 beekees, I picked Blood Angels for no better reason than I had several bottles of red Testors flat enamel on hand. Keep in mind that they were just "red space marines" until 1996, when they actually got their own roolz.

If you've got sonic weapons throughout your army, I'd say try to stick to a similar look. better in what regard?
I mean the brass adds three dimensional detail to your model. You cannot do that with only freehand.
You can get sheets with roman numberals and use that as squadmarkings instead of trying to paint it by hand or using water transfers though.

If you are good ad painting freehand you can add a lot of detail by hand, but it's painted on. A quick aquila here and there or another small icon on a beltbuckle can add a lot, with next to no effort aside form gluing it down.

Depends on what you are trying to do really.

>>52450270
Looks neat. Dig the Pig Iron heads.
You can get a carbine with folded stock from the tank accessory sprue iirc.
In any case it'd probably be easiest to glue the rifle to the back of the mini and add the strap with a bit of thin plastic card.
I did that on the drummer here.

After the couple comments I got I revisited my sonic cannon. So, here's two possible solutions. I reworked the claw bit and added a more "40k" speaker, since anon had a good point- other than cawl, I don't remember any speaker not being a grate. They're dirty as I just cobbled them up, but that's a test cannon and not the one on the model itself. Also, on the bittom there is a nipple-mounted speaker.
Thoughts?

Good evenin, gits 'n grots.
I want to make things loud now, and zog paying 40$ a mini for guitar noise marines.
I manages to source one.
I plan on brushing this on, til I get a good mold, pulling the mini out, and filling it with easy cast resin. Keep it upside down in a egg carton. Is this a good idea? Will it work? Do I need to strip the mini of it's paint beforehand?

I wouldn't do it.

>Will it work?

Probably not. There are enough details on the old guitar-slingin' noise marines that you really should use a two-part mold - a front half and a back half - and to keep the halves from sticking together, you'd at least need a bottle of rubber-to-rubber mold release.

>Do I need to strip the mini of it's paint beforehand?

You probably should. Since it's metal, you can go whole hog and use the most caustic shit in your arsenal to get the paint off.

It's been my experience that if you don't strip it, it will be in the mold when you pull the master out.

I've been working on replacing the old models from Space Crusade with newer ones. All the marines in my set will be the Prospero Mk II ones... which were about £14 a squad on e-bay.. with Forgeworld Rotor cannon and underslung missile launchers.

Think some of these guys will replace Genestealers in my set... The Chaos marines will be Mk III dudes... or I might just leave them. The Space Crusade Chaos Marines have always been pretty cool looking (unlike some of the other stuff from that game :P.

This is a really good job. I can tell it's airbrushed, but it's not in-your-face and super obviously airbrushed like a lot of hack airbrush jobs, like a model with way too much photoshop and airbrushed makeup on.

The blending and highlighting on the blue is really great, as is the shade of light blue. The base doesn't look terrible but it looks like it could use some more steps or some decorations.

>Can you reccomend a way to make a two part mold that's cheep, and doesn't use lego and oyumaru? I don't own lego, and i'm poor as shit and hoping to do this for the ~20$ mark.

LEGO is just the brand name. I'm sure you could find other stuff to build a small rectangular box that is secure and won't be too much trouble to get your mold out of. I got most of my ideas from da clevva ladz at Hirst Arts (http://hirstarts.com/moldmake/moldmaking.html), and they made a box out of foam core.

You can use the latex, but you'll need the mold release if you go that route. Specifically, you need rubber-to-rubber mold release (pic related). Otherwise, the first half of your mold will fuse with the second half of your mold into a solid piece of rubber.

To build a mold, I:

1). Build the box. I use LEGO, you will have to find something that works as well.
2). Put clay down in the bottom of the box.
3). Push the master down into the clay.
4). Stick a few uvva fings in the clay so the mold halves will line up when you take them out.
5). Pour the rubber over the clay and the master. It helps if you drizzle it slowly from the corner, and also if you brush on a thin coat right over the master.
6). Let the rubber vulcanize.
7). Take your box apart and remove the clay, but DO NOT REMOVE YOUR MASTER FROM THE RUBBER. You might need to trim some of the rubber with your hobby knife.
8). Paint the face and sides of the mold with mold release. Try not to get any on the master if you can help it.
9). Rebuild the box and put the first half of the mold in it with the master facing up.
10). Repeat step 5. You are now pouring the second half of your two-part mold.
11). Let the rubber vulcanize.
12). Disassemble the box and *carefully* pull the two halves of the mold apart.
13). Carefully remove the master
14). Cut the channels and vents to let your resin flow into the mold and push air out. Use a sharp hobby knife to make the cuts.
15). Bob's yer uncle. You now have a two-part mold.
>>

I kind of like some of those bits. Like the one in the top right's head, or the middle's multiarms.
>>
>>52452996
If you're very clever with the orientation you can make a 2 part mold of metal bits using cuttlefish bones. My dad is a metalsmith and did it with jewlery. He'd make a wax master, then press the tue bones together to make a mold. Then he'd pour molten silver or gold right into it.

It's a one-shot mold but it works wonderfully. Should be fine with pewter, too. Not sure about resin, though.

What's everyone's opinion on batch painting? I finished 4 FWs in record time and I'm stoked about painting more, but having lots of infantry often puts anyone off.

So I thought, why not do them all at once? But with goals. I have 22 Fire Warriors left. Was thinking I take it in stages, day 1 I do all the underclothes, day 2 I basecoat all the armour, day 3 is details and washes etc etc until I finish all of them by Day 9 give or take.

I'd imagine it's incredibly tedious doing 22 armour basecoats f.ex but at the end of thise week and a half I'd have a mass of troops ready without any more to paint.

There is a company that does alternate heads.
If you switch the head for something with optics and cable instead of a fishbowl thingy is also stars to look less silly.
As far as pauldrons go I think you could maybe try the ones from the demon prince plastic kit.
Or maybe a 3rd party bits seller has something appropriate.

Scibor's termie pads are supposedly even big on termies. So maybe they could fit? Not sure about the sizes though, I never had one of these robots in my hand.

>>

This. I like to do my core color as a large batch, but any more than 5 at once to paint color by color and lack of visual progress per model kills my speed. >>52454887
Normal bubbling and warping they generally expect you to greenstuff and hairdryer away, but if it's so prevalent the model is unsavable they should replace it. They sent me a second Draigo when I told them about how there was a great big hole through his shoulder and just today they sent me a new backpack for guilliman because I murdered him by accident. Both times zero hassle. I think they figure they gain more business by treating you well as long as you buy their expensive products.
>>
>>52455052
Looking at the other boxes I bought at the same time, I think this level of clusterfucky bubbly shit is the standard for finecast. If I send them back, I'll get the same abysmal shit back.

Oh well, gives me sculpting practice.
>>
>>52454677

If you buy the Krylon primers that bond to plastic or chemically etch metal, then yes you can melt your plastic if you spray a shit ton of them.

But you will notice the details going before the plastic does. If you aren't a retard and know how to do a light proper coat of primer, Krylon won't damage your plastic and is both cheaper and a better primer than GW's non-primer sprays like Chaos Black.
>>
Are there any good, more affordable alternatives to the Citadel primer sprays? Ideally something I can get on Amazon?

Also, will any brand of super glue do for metal models? Or are there sub-species of super glues?
>>
>>52455052
So for example you'd paint all the basecoats on all the models but you'd only continue 5 at a time? So when you finish those you realize any model you pick has a good chunk of work done already?

>>52455102
Yeah that's how I like to roll. Like for my imperial fists I just get everybody yellow first. Then like you say, a little easier to pick up and paint any individual.
>>
>>52455090

There are many spray paints that are cheaper than Citadel and work better. The easiest to work with are Tamiya Surface Primer and Army Painter, but they cost as much as GW.

Cheap primers that are good are Duplicolor, Krylon, Rustoleum, and Halford. Just make sure it is some combination of flat, acrylic, sandable, and primer. You don't want to be buying enamels, lacquers, non-primers, etc so looking for keywords such as "sandable" "primer" "acrylic" "flat/matte" will help you buy the right can. Krylon and Duplicolor can be had for $1-5.

Super glues come in both thick and thin formulas. Thick gels tend to be easier to work with as you can let go of the pieces and they will resist gravity faster, and it doesn't drip everywhere. But thin superglue is also good if you know how to work with it. It's personal preference.
>>
>>52454981
The tone of this post is not condescension, but actual curiosity.

What are the downsides of Krylon? And what are some alternative primers? I've always used Krylon because of price and availability. It hasn't always been perfect, but I've always blamed the mistakes on user error. Rustoleum is the other brand at Walmart, is one superior to the other?
>>
>>52455154

Finecast price went up because they released it in June/July, the same time frame they raise prices every year. They didn't raise it because they switched to Finecast, they raised everything. What they did do was switch to a supposedly superior material in an inferior way, and then failed to deliver the promised lower prices the superior material was supposed to offer. I will take good resin over metal any day, GW just fucked up with Finecast.
>>
>>52455160
That actually sounds dope as hell. It's basically both types of batch painting in one. It's still tedious as fuck painting so many basecoats but it's like a trial by fire in and of itself. They're the most mind-numbing parts of painting any model in my opinion.
>>
>tfw found out that the Nob Kombi Rokkit bit has both hands molded on
But I wanted to give my Power Klaw Nobz those.
>>
>>52455179
>What are the downsides of Krylon?

You might buy the wrong type of paint.
It might be less humidity resistant than others.
You might spray it wrong and fuck up your model because you're not used to the spray pressure and nozzle pattern.
You might not be able to strip your miniature because you bought a strong bonding type of can.
You might not have it available in your area.
Your area might overcharge you for it (though it will still be less than GW).
You might not find the color you want if something other than black/white/gray/basic colors.

Rustoleum is better than Krylon simply because they make more sandable primers. Krylon makes a whole lot of shit, but if you have a sandable flat acrylic from Rustoleum and a sandable flat acrylic from Krylon the only difference between the two will be price and how the can sprays. They are both primers so it doesn't matter if one is "inferior" to the other in terms of the paint and texture it's putting on the model.

Looking forward in particular to painting Magnus. I am going to have a fucking field day. Gonna get a bunch of new paints for my TS in general, but they'll make him look glorious (at least I'll try, I'm no Duncan)

Looking to prime my first models, trying to figure out the best way to go about it. From watching videos, it seems the main two methods are either having it on a flat plane which you rotate as you spray, or having it mounted on top of something like a water bottle which you can then maneuver to get more angles. While I think the second method sounds better, I lack the putty used in their examples to affix the base to the cap. Could a loop of tape (duct or scotch) server a similar purpose?

And/or how do you kind anons handle your priming?
>>
>>52456728
Also, how do you guys thin your paints? The two main methods I've read about are either:
1. Getting paint on brush, then quickly dipping in water cup
Or
2. Putting paint on palette, then adding a bit of water to your paint-pools.

Would either of these be fine?

>>52458437
It's an old chimera that came with individual road wheels. He's chopped up the side panels and used the road wheels in a more traditional manner instead of closing them in with the second side plate that you normally see on it.

You can't do that with the new kits, at least, not without sourcing new road wheels from elsewhere.

He's kind of a pimp. I give him the primarch's wrath and he hangs out with some heavy bolter devs. In his first fight he solo'd goku the diviner with his fists and survived to endgame against the lychguard mob. I gave him a power sword after that. After surviving against impossible odds for months of gaming, he faced the necrons again. I lost all my armor support early. He charged alone into the midfield to challenge the overlord and lychguard retinue, wrecks the lord, wins the combat, sweeps the entire squad. Does the same with immortals and some other shmucks. Finally loses his last wound on the final turn to overwatch from a warrior mob. Nearly won me the game. Saved his marines and drew all the enemy fire with his sacrifice. Total hero.

Thinking of doing some blood angels conversions, namely dante and mephiston.

Do you think using the knight azyros and knight venator from the stormcast eternal line would work?

Here are my ideas for each, what do you think?

Dante: replace azyros head with sanguinary guard death mask, equip power axe or grand axe in sword arm. Replace shoulder pad with BA shoulder pad. Replace lantern arm with pistol weapon. Replace wings with jump pack (unsure)

Mephiston: Replace venator helm with (??, his face is sort of his trademark, would a helmet be acceptable?), swap torso for BA power armor along with shoulder pads. Use azyros sword or other power sword. Replace wings with dark elder scourge wings . Replace bow string arm with plasma pistol

>carnival of chaos
Fuckin' A, man. If you can find a nice middle-ground with the carnival aspect and horror of Nurgle, that would be pretty spiffy, I have to say.

As for the model, the eye is a little too jarring. It looks too much like it was just "painted on", rather than it actually being part of him. Some shading would do well to help that. Also, the buboes similarly have too much contrast. Not saying you can't rock them, just that you need to try and build up to the yellow from the purple/pink, like the skin has been distended to the point it's now clear and the color of the pus shows through. Those are just my thoughts, however. Take it as you will.

Also fuck having a viewable interior, the structural integrity of the model is horrifically compromised if the rear hatch isn't sealed. It will literally creak when the doors are down

Take a Chaos Spawn kit, and use those arms to add onto some of these guys, along with swapping out a few heads, like the bottom right guy could use a new head, bottom left needs a headswap and some more insect arms and tentacles to make it alright.
Top right is utter shite, maybe replace his head with something, and replace his right arm (The one he has raised over his head) with a regular pistol arm.

The center model though, that guy actually looks pretty cool. I would honestly love taking this guy and just swapping his legs with one from the newer Space Marine kit, and calling it good. I've been hunting around on Ebay for the center dude alone just to have a good looking Aspiring champion.

No, Dreadnought "pilots" aren't like regular suits. Come to think of it I don't think suits work like that in 40k in general. The two prominent ones are Dreadnoughts and Tau battlesuits, both of which have the pilot stuck in the chest cavity.

Also the DN pilot is a corpse. Sometimes he doesn't even HAVE limbs. They're giant ECG machines with guns.

>>
>>52461736
That's a great explanation, thanks. I'm way out of touch with the fluff. Are there any GW images of the wires connecting the arm to the chest?
>>
>>52461736
The Night lords novels have chapters from a dreadnaught perspective.

You're inside a giant fish bowl where you can move your actual body around and feel everything it feels but you're also connected to the dreadnaught which will respond to commands. It's like 1 brain hooked up to 2 bodies and you can feel both's senses at once and know they're distinct.
>>
>>52461736
Not sure but I didn't think the Tau used direct neural implants inside the suit. In fire warrior (game though it be) in any case they move around in the suit to move it.
>>
>>52461780
So the pilot inside is fully conscious and aware they're a slab of grinded-up meat and can move and look at the stumps and wires.

Great. I need a drink.

>>52461767
Dunno how official this is but it captures the jist of the average DN pilot.
>>
>>52461812
They do? I don't remember Crisis Suits being in the game at all. And yeah, they use an implant kinda like the Matrix uplink thing. Some get so used it they develop that neuroses where they feel phantom pain when their suit suffers damage.

It also describes some pilots being dumbfounded as to why they can't fly in their real bodies, which sounds silly but I know exactly what that's like due to a lucid dream I once had. I could will myself to float with barely a thought and it felt so natural, like breathing, like I was always able to do that. That part of the fluff stuck with me for that reason.
>>
>>52461844
I wish Tau fluff returned to that kind of shit. A lot of the Fire Caste endure a lot of psychological drawbacks thanks to their technology. Pathfinders handling radioactive weapons with little to no shielding, stealthsuit pilot becoming awkward loners, Ghostkeel pilots become NEETs who talk to their AIs, Crisis pilots having phantom pain. I love that shit.

>>52458437
Looks like the front glacis of a chimera with the rear and bottom of a Leman russ. Turret is from the older Russ kit, with what looks like a heavily modified lascannon as the gun.

The treads aren't as tricky as they look. Older Russes come with an entire bobby suspension setup that includes a whole pile of those little round wheels that the treads are supposed to stick to. The modeler here appears to have used that and simply omitted the addition of the outside plate, letting the bobbies and treads hang free.

Actually he seems to have moved the bobbies around a bit, but not by much. I don't recommend following this, it's a motherfucker to kitbash and would leave bits snapping off the sides if you aren't careful with it.

A better solution might be a correctly sized 3rd party model, such as the Mad Robot Miniatures tank (pic related). Sure, geedubs employees will probably balk at you (probably) but it's the right size and looks hella sweet. Can't remember where but I saw it next to an LRBT once, it's the same overall length, width and height.

The swords are from the stormtrooper kit. Building an army of them means I had a truckload lying around. Shield arms (and eventual shields) are from the sigmarine footmen. There's not.. too much greenstuff, mostly just filling gaps and the occasional khorne symbol. Had to rebuild one abdominal plate but that's about it.

The real hurdle was dremeling the heads and neck areas out enough to fit the headswaps in. Could have just used the multipart blood warriors instead of the starter set ones, but I wanted the more dynamic poses.

Y'all are gonna love this.

For the longest time I was frustrated by three things:

1. How awesome heavy artillery carriages are.
2. How expensive the Forge World model is.
3. How bulky it is, which is an issue when you want to fit your entire army into a pair of steamer trunks.

So I made this. A 3d printed model of a gun carriage that fits the gun deck of a Basilisk. It's bigger than the FW model in pretty much every dimension (by anywhere from 0.5-1.p inches), but as an Artillery unit that doesn't matter much. Combined with some Zinge 28mm wheels it makes a damn good conversion. And my Basilisk guns are magnetized, so I can swap them out at my leisure.

Gonna put some grubblies on it and go to town on anything that's not TEQ.

I think I made the model public. It costs about $20 to print, and the wheels are another $10. A bit of money but a far cry from the $120 you'd pay for a Forge World gun carriage. Smaller too, if you have some magnetized basilisks.

Could also theoretically fit the MaxMini siege gun I've seen floating around.

you're already using the easiest stuff to work with. But Milliput is sandable post drying so you can work it down that way instead.

What's a good modelling putty? I was gonna fix some cracks on a project I was working on and the little green stuff I had was all stiff and hard as fuck to work, and I decided it was no good. I need something soft and pliable. Liquid green stuff won't work, the spaces are too big for it to fill.
>>
>>52463747
that's really cool shit, anon! I'm gonna steal this for one of my characters!

Tamiya putty, squadron green, milliput.
>>
>>52463990
There has to be something softer. I tried mixing a small amount and my fingers hurt like hell. And even with a tool I could barely get the two to mix in any way. It's like trying to knead bitumen. If I try to apply this onto the model, I'm likely to break it, if I am even able to mix the stuff.

Go nuts, bro.

The multipart guys are a bit easier to convert if you don't have a dremel. The most difficult part would be ditching the axe hand, which is just a matter of clipping the axe off and filing the hand down completely with a needle file.

>>52456747

>>
>>52464071
Either You're such a faggot you belong in /lgbt/ or your putty has dried out/started curing. Buy some fresh stuff.
>>
>>52464071
Old Greenstuff gets harder to mix. You just have to mix it a few minutes it should get softer.
Milliput is basically like clay. You can add a few drops of water to soften it to the point of making it into a soft mushy paste.
>>
>>52464054
>Tamiya putty

Might have to give that a try. This stuff is harder to mix than European royalty. And the little bit I got mixed was way too stiff to apply. Tamiya stuff looks simple enough to just squirt into the spaces, even out and sand down.
>>
>>52461970
I just base where I put the paint on where I think light would hit, but I also use a really fine point needle in my brush so i pretty much used it like a would a paint brush. Not sure if that answers your question but let me know.

>>
>>52458375

>>52464083
It'd be easy to keep the axe too, just full in the rune of khorne with greenstuff, add one half of an Aquila on both sides and "connect them" using greenstuff, and there you go, Imperial Axe from the olden days!
>>
>>52464452
I painted these nearly 10 years ago.
So you'll have to find a modern GW equivalent or check for the corresponding Vallejo match. I found the Army Painter Dark Tone Ink to be a very close match to Devlan Mud (the opular Agrax seems to have less black in it).

Pretty simple three color recipe:
>base Catachan green
>highlight Camo green
>wash Devlan mud, make sure it settles in the recesses and not on your highlights
>rehighlight Camo green
>>
>>52463864

It was a warning to all mb posters, dont take it personal.
>>
>>52464613
Strong tone is Devlan mudish. Dark tone is black.
>>
>>52464802
The dark tone is a dark brown.
At least the bottle I have.
>>
>>52464466
wrong.

this is why a lot of people have such a hard time painting non clumpy light colors because they always go in the same direction. each layer you need to alternate the direction of your brush strokes, so if you painting left to right one layer you need to paint up and down the next.
>>
>>52464802
>>52464868
Wait, scratch that. You're right.

Dunno why, I only have one Army Painter ink and for some reason I thought it was the brown one.
I'm sure I used it before and it was brown.

Then again, as I said it's been a while so maybe I'm starting to imagine things.
>>
>>52464868

I also heard that strong tone was %100 devlan mud rebranded.

I have the entire range. They all have a brownish tone to them except the blues but that's mostly because it dries so matte which looks that way for some reason.

>>52464910
It's not, it's thicker and needs less to get the same result.

Yes I know, but it's a very grey-ish green. I'm hoping someone knows the recipe.

Simple to paint, looks great if done decently, will teach you the basics such as the importance of a solid basecoat and clean edge highlighting, and also offers plenty opportunity to practice more advanced techniques like wetblending on lords, destroyers etc

It's a fantastic race for learning the ropes

>>
>>52465999
I don't know how one might do this, but the base would be really cool if you covered it with fallen leaves and dead branches to give it an autumnal woodland look. I think that would go better with your paint job than the generic base it has now.
