Any medpacks here, what happens when one of them dies?
It's one organism , not 2 humans stapled together
>>8180663
This, they share certain organs IIRC, therefore barring some freakish experimental surgery the other would die
>>8180663
What if one gets a clot in the brain and dies thouh?
Not OP
I'm finishing my master's in Computer Science, specializing in AI and algorithms. Even though I'm doing the career I wanted since little and I'm loving it, for some reason, I think this shit is useless and want to do some more useful, in my opinion, like chemistry or physics, since I like both of them, but I don't want to do another careers since I don't have money for that.
What you would do?
>>8192363
What would Jesus do?
>>8192368
Probably get himself crucified
>>8192394
Then you should do that.
Is "survival of the fittest" a misnomer?
Wouldn't "death of the unfittest" be more accurate?
>>8192677
pic definitely related
each statement implies the other no?
>>8192688
Maybe I'm just dumb, but "the fittest" seems to imply the most fit, i.e. those that are the pinnacle of being "fit," while "the unfittest" implies those that are the least fit.
Survival of the most fit implies that those that are of middling "fit" die as well as those that are least "fit," while death of the unfittest implies that only the "least fit" die while middling "fit" groups manage to survive along with the most "fit" groups.
Why is there a minimum temperature on earth (-273.15 C) but no maximum ?
>>8192616
>on earth
No.
The maximum may be the Planck temperature, no one knows.
>>8192616
It just is m8.
>>8192616
There is no minimum temperature. Look up negative temperature. It's just a defined thing--defined in terms of the entropy and energy of a system. What we use and think of as temperature is more operational (how much mercury rises in a tube when in contact with the thing we want to measure etc.).
Loosely, the more thermal energy a thing has, the higher the temperature. Is there a limit in the amount of thermal energy?
I don't get how irrational numbers exist.
for any two fractions m/n > p/q, there is some fraction (m+p)/(n+q) in between the two. thus there are an infinite amount of fractions of rational numbers between any two fractions.
then if we take 3/2 and 5/4, since there are an infinite of rational fractions between them, there must be some fraction which equates to sqrt(2). how am I wrong?
>>8192566
Why must there be?
The set of rationals between two numbers doesn't have to include all numbers between the two
>>8192566
Oh, how simple minded you are.
>there must be some fraction which equates to sqrt(2)
Well, just tell us what it is and then we can all go home. You will be right and you will have shamed thousands of years of mathematics.
Just tell us what that fraction is. Shouldn't be too hard, after all, there are infinite fractions so one of them must be it!
>>8192566
It's harder to explain the incredibly large and specific numerator and denominator of sqrt(2) and pi than to simply presume there is no exact decimal representation and therefore no exact fraction. Occam's razor. A mathematician might be able to give a more convincing argument, but do consider that a lot of truths in mathematics are really the simplest possible explanation -- something that at first seems simpler turns out to require many more assumptions and be harder to explain.
Post analysis about my proof.

It is a serious attempt.
I'm doing some game design brainstorming and have a physics related question.
If a sorcerer shoots lightning at someone 10 or so meters away on a sunny day, they will get a large zap. However, if it is raining heavily, they will receive a smaller zap, since the rain will dissipate the charge/energy? Most games will enhance the power of electricity under rainy conditions. Water can only be used to hit someone by proxy assuming they are touching a small body of contiguous water, and it would not enhance the effects.
???
thanks
try touching an electric fence dry and then soaking wet, the difference might surprise you
>>8192076
>since the rain will dissipate the charge/energy?
The electricity will take the shortest path. What significant dissipation do you expect?
If there is an infinite amount of natural numbers, and the sum of all of them = -1/12, does that mean the sum of all primes also = -1/12 since there is an infinite amount of them?
>>8191395
yea man
No.
Yes yes well done. However, what is the sum of all non-numbers?
Is it possible to get a 2 PhD's in your lifetime? One in Physics and one in Maths?
print off a couple of pages with the word 'phd' on them and read some wikipedia articles
your name will be remembered for eternity and you will get all of tghe girls in the world craving your big 9 inch phd dick
I don't think wasting another 5 years of your life is a good idea anon. Just go out, date some girls, fuck some chicks, make big money and live your life.
>>8191020
It is possible, but you are almost certainly collecting degrees at that point.
There is very little reason to have 2 PhDs. The whole point of a PhD is to show that you can do independent research. If you are capable of that, you should be able to pursue any type of research if you put your mind to it, even stuff not within your immediate field.
Of course, to get to the cutting edge of research often requires a great depth of knowledge that takes years to cultivate, so it can be difficult to jump fields willy nilly, but going to grad school twice isn't going to help you in that respect.
Here's some wisdom: Grad school is about research, not what classes you take.
how do we reverse entropy?

I don't know if I am being hypochondriac or not, but I feel a gnawing fear of having a brain tumor or a neurological disorder.
Problem is healthcare is realy expensive in my country, so I really can't just get a PET to put my doubts to rest.
Wat do?
>>8190764
>PET
You're afraid of having a cancerous mass form in your body, despite (presumably) being asymptomatic, so to put your fears to rest you decide to have material that emits gamma radiation put into your body.
Anyway, hopefully no doctor would play along with that. PET is mainly for people who are known to have cancer, and is used to locate with greater precision the location of any metastasis systemically (the tumor is prone to sucking up the compound decaying and emitting gamma rays, whether it has a good active blood supply or not). You could just go get a regular MRI. Most machines these days are ~3T, which would certainly show any masses.
Also, stop using a cell phone or wireless devices of any kind if you're that worried. inb4 tons of people come in to tell me how it really is, and how solid risk assessment works.
OP. Listen. People 'feel' things for a reason. People 'suspect' they have something wrong with them and 5 times out of ten they are right. It is intuitive, but it saves lives.
Unless you have other obvious mental health issues - go with your intuition - it may save your life.

I agree with this poster, but caution against believing your preconceived notions are necessarily correct. You might very well have some awry with you, but it and its nature could be something you'd have never guessed. Don't anchor on something and drive yourself into anxiety and madness.
I have a doubt: what we should colony first? Venus or Mars? Because I see that SpaceX wants to launch a mission to Mars in 2025 but then I realize "Why the fuck don't we go to Venus first?" Sorry if I don't put more details, I don't know much in this matter.
>>8190099
venus has acid rain and pressures that would flatten humans like a pancake
>>8190119
But I mean that they could (if they could) change the atmosphere to make it habitable.
>>8190099
Don't fall for the planet meme OP, humans will never widely populate either of those planets
we'll live in space, on rotating colonies instead. i guess you could have such a colony orbit mars or venus instead of earth, if you really wanted

Does it make sense for humanity to be derived from two humans and their offspring?
If its true, who did the children breed with ? Coz the only female is either the mother or the sister ;)
>>8189723
Does life makes sense? If you knew better, would you make such indagation? So, we arrived at a conclusive response.
Without the tools and knowledge that humans have been gifted through the millenium, they wouldn't be any more advanced than they were thousands of years ago.
Who is the master of this orchestra you ask? You want to talk to him but he can't listen to you because maybe you haven't tried hard enough to reach him. Maybe you are insignificant, maybe you can do better than that. Maybe you are too lazy to evolve, expecting things to happen for you. But anyway you'll learn this. You will be good.

How likely is it that giant robots will be exist in the future?
They got them now. I saw a giant robot tyrannosaurs rex rip a car in half an shoot flames out of it's nostrils at a monster truck show.
Bulky, slow, vulnerable, costly machines.
The fork lift body suit from Aliens is the best we will probably ever get.
Yea, they will probably be coming out with that exoskeleton technology before long.
