would you consider him a mathematician?
Why wouldn't we?
>>8266442
He was a logician.....same as why we don't consider Alan Turing a mathematician, he was a computer scientist
>>8266445
He did mathematical logic. He proved shit; same difference.
Do you think a scientific basis for philosophy is possible?
Yes.
Doesn't philosophy deal with shit like free will, afterlife, spiritualism and pretty much every unfalsifiable bullshit that even a 40 IQ braintard can have an opinion on with zero necessity to provide evidence ?
Then no.

The Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus) lives 400 years.
Why aren't we studying this?

For human longevity.
This is the longest living vertebra on the planet!

And a horse has a huge dick, should we study that to see why it's so big?
If gravity is like a bowling ball in a trampoline attracting marbles then how do you explain the rings of uranus?

uranus needs to be angled properly to do its job
I just can't tell where the memes begin when the topic is uranus

Will humans go extinct or will we be able to colonize new planets ad infinitum?
There's a theory that no civilization surpasses that treshold to move on to other planets before destroying themselves which is why there is no widely spread advanced colony of aliens anywhere.
And with the current shitty situation of the world, I'm even doubting if we can set foor on Mars.
>>8266172
well the universe will die someday and humanity can't do jack shit about that so yeah we're fucked in the long run

Just because you're a narrow minded know nothin' doesn't mean everyone else is.
If entropy is always higher in the future, what happens if two people moving at very different velocities try to measure the entropy of a box of gas at some temperature T?
Does the fast guy measure higher entropy? Lower entropy? The same as the stationary guy? Intuitively I want to say it's the same but wouldn't time dilation cause this to interfere with the second law of thermodynamics?
>>8266021
The fast guy measures lower entropy because it takes longer for information to reach him.
>>8266021
Doesn't temperature assume thermal equilibrium anyways?

It's the first language they have learnt, and they are either unwilling or uncapable of learning better languages.
Why people still use C++98?

I'm not sure what "60's languages" he's talking about, but to me R seems closest to Matlab.
The person who wrote this has poor language skills. I question the value of his assessment.
What is the evolutionary purpose of balding? Is it to prevent the hunter-gatherer from overheating when they went to find prey? If that's the case, why does balding occur later in life, when the hunter-gatherer would probably have died from rape by a giraffe or something horrible like that? Is balding just an unlucky mutation?
Sexual dimorphism doesn't need to have a practical use.
Side effect of testosterone. Those who bald early in life eliminates themselves from the gene pool because they can't find mates, but those who bald latter still were able to pass down their inferior get-old-then-bald gene cuz they've already mated before they went bald.
I'm not yet convinced balding is genetically deterministic or hinges strictly on DHT synthesis in follicle cells. Think it might be potentiated by environmental factors.
People have always balded, but they're doing so at a much earlier age than was historically common. I don't think a higher population and the post baby-boomer era fully covers this.
Any mechanical engineers here? I want to start studying next year and want to prepare accordingly. What subjects are gonna be tricky? Where will I have to hit the books the hardest? How much time did you invest in studying?
Brush up on your trig, and get a good understanding in your basic Calculus and Algebra because you'll be using it for the next four years.

To add on, I took a Calculus 2 course over the summer and probably had to spend about 20 hours a week out of class studying to get a A+ in the class.

I've noticed that some people put little squares at the end of their proofs (tombstones).
Some proofs end with the formula that was to be proven. Is it acceptable to put the square *around* the final formula? See the image and imagine it's the end of a proof.
Also: Aside from Q.E.D. and the aforementioned tombstones, are there any other ways to signify the end of a proof? I've tried searching, but I can't find any.

Yes, but expect Finland and Baltic-tier suicide rates.
