How can anyone with an IQ above 130 take infinities seriously? Ever since my first undergrad math class I realised that any use of "infinity" in mathematics is logically incoherent. Any use of infinity constantly comes to absurd conclusions like 1+2+3... = -1/12. Seriously when are mathematicians going to stop falling for the infinity meme?

I need to write a Bachelors thesis, and I have no idea how to find a subject. I was thinking about rolling with something from representation theory, but what? I know I can choose a supervisor and discuss this with them, but Id rather get some ideas before going further. How do I find viable subjects?

Do research and find a problem that isn't on your textbook.
>>
Well if you have only worked with finite groups, you can look at the representations of [math]\mathfrak S_n[/math] (it's detailed in Prasad: Representation Theory, A Combinatorial Approach), the representations of [math]GL_n(\mathbb F_q)[/math] or more ambitiously the McKay conjecture or the McKay correspondence (if you know some algebraic geometry)
If you have already studied representations of Lie groups, you can look at the applications in QFT

Is computer science really a meme degree ?
Is the math we do in these studies really low-tier compared to what a maths major does ?
Are indians going to take all the jobs ?
Is the theory behind algorithms, sorting, O(n) search times interesting ?

Should I do a telecommunications engineering degree or maths degree instead ?

does anybody know anything about natural healing for a sore throat that's been sore for a number of days?
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Yes! Don't do it.

For real. I used a folk remedy (hot toddy) for a sore throat once, and it was effective in that it made the symptoms almost completely disappear (aside from a slight tickle in my throat when I smoked).

Unfortunately, I wasn't actually cured. Went well over a month with what turned out to be strep. Infected all of my friends (one got It so badly that his uvula swelled until it rested on his tongue and couldn't talk without gagging). I didn't even know I was sick until I went in for lower back pain that turned out to be inflamed kidneys. Doc estimated I was less than a week from rheumatic fever, which is what strep turns into when you don't treat it.

So go to the doctor.

It's a vector space over the complex numbers together with an inner product that satisfies a completeness condition.

>how difficult is it to build/gather materials for a fusor
all you need is a high voltage supply and a pair of conductors.

You can literally build a fusor using a lightening and some water.
>>
>>8269190
but one that has potential to grow in size?
>>
>>8269200
Use a very large HV power supply and 2 conductors inside a low-pressure tube.

BTW in a serious note, don't actually do this.
There's a high chance you'll get x-rays or even neutron-activate various materials.
In any case it's very dangerous and shouldn't be attempter by anyone with just average or below average knowledge on the subject.or radiation safety and nuclear physics.

Genuine question here, please someone help me or ill spend the rest of my life just contemplating it

Why arnt we using gravity to power stuff? We have infinite amount of gravity yet we dont use it, why cant we build a machine which drops on object down a tube which somehow generates electricity and take that object back to the top

>>
>>8268962
>and take that object back to the top

That's your answer pal. Taking that object back to the top will require more energy than is produced by dropping it.

I´ve got a Math Riddle to solve which left me clueless. I ask for your help to solve it, because I didn´t find anything on a similiar Riddle.

The Riddle goes as following:

After a Project, 4 individual corporations get a sum x, corp 1: a half of the sum minus 2000, corp 2: a third of the sum minus 5000, corp 3: a quarter of the sum plus 1000 and corp 4: 2000.

Its about Money / Euros and its defined that corp 4 only gets 2000 and the other get those Values.

The Question is: What is the overall sum?

Well anon in all honestly it probably would be possible by now if the Christian dark ages would've never occurred, seriously fuck Christians, biggest cucks of all time.
