Hi, I am a Computer science student, and want to expand my Math background.
So far I have done only base courses such as Calc1,LinearA1,Logik and Discrete mathe.. etc
Looking for a way to cut to "fat" and progress myself faster. Towards topics like Graphs Theory,Topology and Category Theory.
Any recommendation of how it could be done? Books recommendation are also helpful.
Do all the proofs to every single notion you cover in class and you'll end up competent in math's methods. You can read whatever you care about the most on the side
Sounds a bit too much, or am I missing somehting? anyways, this semester Im going to finish all the maths unless i'll take more, but I think I can progress faster myself...

Same thing that happens to all TV programmes:
>Got repetitive
>Started running out of ideas
>Got old
>Leading to declining viewer base
>Leading to getting it's funding cut
>Leading to it having to scale back
>Causing it's viewer base to shrink even more....

I think Mythbusters had a good run. It got kind of stupid near the very end but there's nothing wrong with popsci in and of itself.

I'm trying to prove it using the epsilon convergence definition, but im stuck anons
Devide numerator and denominator by n
>>8507285
I don't know if this is what you are looking for but think about it logically
as N approaches infinity, 3n^2 becomes fuck huge and n is far smaller. Thus it will become a smaller and smaller fraction and approach 0
>>8507285
[eqn]\frac{n}{3n^2+2} = \frac{1}{3n+\frac{2}{n}}[/eqn]
You know have to prove that [math]3n+\frac{2}{n}[/math] is infinite.
It's easy.
Are women able to prevent a pregnancy after being raped in the state of nature (wilderness)?
How effective would pouring water down the vagina be, and how long until it is of no use?

Get outta here Todd Akin
How effective would pouring water down the vagina be, and how long until it is of no use?
Would be as useful as teaching a bunch of inner city nigger gang bangers the basics of Shakespeare.

I think the male mate would just beat her until the pregnacy was terminated
There are herbs that can be taken before or after sex to prevent pregnancy.
Silphium (now extinct,) willow, date palm, pomegranate, pennyroyal, artemisia, myrrh, rue, or daucus carota are a few.
Let's say you put a stereotypical alpha male in total exclusion and let him live on his own until 18 years of age. Would he be able to be more "socially successful" (have friends, a partner etc) than a sperg like me even tho I was raised into society's molds?
I think you can answer this yourself.
Self-esteem and social skills are very rarely genetic (unless you have an actual symptom).

>stereotypical alpha male in total exclusion and let him live on his own until 18
he would be insane, is this bait?

can you back those claims?
How long would an Earth's day have to be if we wanted to have a Zero-G state (weightlessness) on the equator? Earth's radius is R = 6400km, Earth's weight is 6* 10^24kg and the gravitational constant is G = 6,7* 10^-11 kg^-1 m^3 s^-2. Assume the Earth's shape is spherical (round).
Solve the result for 2 valid digits.
>>8506830
I'm pretty sure it would need a fuckton less mass in order to have 0 g at the equator, so no solution
>>8506830
Probably somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half.
Do the math yourself.
>>8506830
>How long would an Earth's day have to be if we wanted to have a Zero-G state (weightlessness) on the equator?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centripetal_force
Force = (Mass*(Speed^2))/Radius
Mass = 100kg (testing)
Radius = 6,371,000 meters
To reach 980 newtons of force (the amount nessecary for 9.8m/s accel on a 100kg body), a speed of 7,940 meters per second is required, or:
17,761 miles per hour
Earths current rotational speed is approx 1,000 miles per hour.
Currently, You weigh about 1/100th less on the equator than you do at the poles due to centrifugal force.
At a angular speed of 17,761 miles per hour, one complete revolution would take approx 1.4 hours (84 minutes.)

u overestimate the human mind which can only think one thing at a time. it does poorly with complex things like equations. for instance, divide 282 by 13 and answer both quotient and remainder, a fairly easy thing to do with maths on paper. youll see my point. we re weak..thats why we use language so much because how incredibly stupid we are. infact so stupid most of us dont even realize our stupidity. thank god for computers.

>u overestimate the human [...]
282/13 is fairly easy.
28/13=2R[2]
[2]2/13=1R9.
21R9 is the answer.

Can somebody please describe, without any robotic assumptions, the object present in human perception that leads to the idea of a soul/will/being? I've tried asking this question in a dozen different forms and every time all the responses I get are like something spat out from a machine. People talk about all the ideas that come from it, but I need a perfectly naive description of the object itself without any assumptions to its nature.

Why do we perceive light better from an angled look than directly staring into?
>>8505709
>>8505709
I dont understand.
Youre asking why it's better to view something travelling across your field of vision as opposed to having it directly collide with your eyes.
Think about it like this, is it easy to watch the water fall from your shower or a hose when it's spraying your face? Same principal applies.
>>8505709
Light sources are bright.
Its much easier to see the light refracted off of things.
For instance you dont actually see light at an angle, rather fine particles in the air that catch it and outline the light, showing the path it takes.
