>When the clearcoat has peeled off completely in all the horizontal surfaces due to 20 years of raging sunlight, requiring a respray lol
>When the plastic bumpers/overfenders/lower door protections are already scratched and shitty
>When you use it to off road and can't care about it looking "beautiful" since it'll likely get scratched
>When you can park it anywhere and don't mind some retard bumping into you, just bash the panel roughly into shape again
>When you can shove your way through those imbeciles in traffic that think they can pass on the right just because they drive an expensive car or shiny big ass truk
I love making those fucks shit their pants when they notice I truly don't care about putting a new dent in my shitbox. Can't count the amount of times I've had them run their passenger-side wheels off to the side of the road and onto the dirt. That will teach them to pass on the right on a busy road

How fucked are we?
Depends how fast you were going when it blew up
I curbed my car a while back and the tyre walls split like in in OP's pic all the way around.
Was it a shitty tyre or?

It's not my van, so I've no idea what kind it is, given it happened without hitting anytjing I'm guessing it's somewhat cheap

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a diesel pickup to last me through college. Don't need or want anything massive. Where are good places to start and what do I need to look for when on the market? Is $5000 a good budget or should I allow more? Can I go lower? Age also does not matter to me.
>>17544652
I suggest a 3k Ranger.
>>17544652
>a diesel pickup
>$5000
Don't know about where you are, but around here, $5k will get you a 15-30 year old rust bucket with 200k+ miles. Was just looking at them earlier today, best I saw was $5-6k for an early 2000's model with 190-200k miles.
While the motors will probably go just about forever, everything else on the truck will probably be worn out and on the verge of breaking. Expect frequent repairs.
Unless you really need a diesel for whatever reason, I'd recommend just getting a gasser, as they're more common and generally cheaper. Also, for the same price as a diesel, you can probably get a newer gasser that makes as much or more power as the diesel.
I don't want to spend more than 500$ on a car that will teach me how to drive and fix it, so I'm either looking at these 626/Capellas, or a Lada (ye, ruskiefag here). Most of the Mazdas are in good shape for that age. If any of you owned one, I would love to know which engine (1.6 or 2 L) is more reliable and your general opinion on the car.
>>17544607
Don't go near the Lada, all you'll learn is how fucking poorly they're made, the 626 is a solid shitbox choice though, go with the 2L if you can.
>>17544661
Ye, thanks! Also seen one 323F with the pop-ups, but it's body looks like crap, so I guess I go with the older 626s.
>>17544779
With older shitboxes make sure to also pay really close attention to the window seals, especially around the windscreen and shit, a little body rust is fine and easy enough to fix, but rust around the windows seals can be a real pain in the ass to fix properly and a car that leaks when it rains is especially shit to live with.

>Be me waiting for friend at car meet
>He shows up in his lexus
>Lexus gets a lot of shit on here and I want to know why
>I ask friend if I can drive his lexus
>He tells me to go for it
>I get in his car and there's a bad smell, smells almost like rotten eggs
>Ask friend and he says it's cause he needs to clean the car
>So I start the car and put it into reverse
>Friend stops me and asks what I'm doing
>I tell him I'm backing out the spot
>Friend tells me I'm using the shifter wrong
>Confused as fuck I ask him to show me how to shift
>I get out the car and my friend stands up on the seats
>I ask him why he's standing on the seats and he says just watch
>He then proceeds to pull down his shorts and squats over the shifter spreading his ass cheeks as the smell of rotten eggs fills the air
>The knob gently pierces his asshole as he tells me this is how you shift
>He proceeds to do burnouts in the parking lot as he shifts gears smoothly with his tightly clenched asshole
>I'm astonshied by this but now I see why /o/ likes lexus so much, I've never seen a car shift so smoothly before with nothing but a tight asshole
You fucking suck. Get outta here with this try-hard bullshit. Fucking retarded.

Does your mom know that you're still awake?
Not funny.
I am researching what car to buy and all these WRX owners are just so fucking cringe.

I thought it was a joke a first after hearing about this on /o/. Should I just buy something german so not to be associated with these people?

I drive a stage III 2014 wrx hatchback. Its straight piped and catless.
I wear skiny jeans and a flat brim hat.
I don't vape or own a fidget spinner.
I'm also an ambassador for subaru.
I think you'll find shit tier people in every platform.

Like what? A Volkswagen? If I had a dollar for every fat vaping neckbeard I've seen in a GTI I'd be rich
>>17544239
>I wear skiny jeans and a flat brim hat
Trying to imagine this...
Honestly shit people are everywhere, but would be nice to have people not instantly assume negative things about you because of the car you drive.
>>17544245
Not looking at any VW. Maybe a BMW since they seem to have a lot of manual trans. The new 2 series looks nice but if I want a sedan then 3 series it is.
Why don't we, as a board of automotive enthusiasts, try to crowdfund a little bit of money to change a small part of the automotive industry and make our passion a little bit better?
I don't feel like it

pic related are some things I would actually like to do to my car sooner or later.....probably won't be able to do every single thing and might decide against a thing or two
So I've got an '09 Chevy Cobalt. The car wreaks of gas but there is no drip whatsoever. When I try to crank it up I have to turn it over multiple times, and sometimes when it finally cranks its as if exhaust just got blasted through my ac vents. I've tried googling the problems but I can't find any solutions. You're my only hope /o/...
>>17543963
Sounds like there is an exhaust leak on one of your exhaust manifolds.
