05 Civic SE 5spd with 220k miles
versus
07 Fit autobox with 180k miles
both are 3k, both have pwr windows, locks, mirrors, and relatively same conditions.
only difference is transmission. civic seems to have had a lot of maintenance per owner (belt and pump at 100k, headgasket at 150k, belt and pump again at 180k...) while Fit has relatively no maintenance other than a catalytic converter.

It leaks. The owner said he tried to seal it with silicone and it has come back. You can smell it when you open the doors. The weather stripping was coming off the roof. I'm willing to silicone it up if the Fit is more reliabile than this model civic (I think the engine is an oddball engine?) but the Civic owner is trying to dig up the receipt for timing belt and water pump... if he doesn't have that it's hard to justify the price if it could potentially need belt and pump.

How much money would I have to put into my integra to beat my friend who has a 2013 gt500? I'm thinking like 2k for an eBay turbo and exhaust kit and also a cold air intake. And maybe a little extra for a time and racing slicks. Any other mods I should make?

Do people here have any ownership experience with the twins? I'm looking to turn my miata into a project, and find a daily. Looking online with these cars, it seems like everyone either has a perfectly reliable car, or deal with constant issues.
Anything I should look out for on these early models? Eyeing a 2013 with 9k miles at the moment.

I wouldn't buy one of these new, they aren't worth it.
You can find used ones for under 20k easily. Get the BRZ instead of the GT86 as the BRZ comes with better tires for some fucking reason. Try your best to find one that hasn't been beat to shit, modified or anything.
They're very agile but lack power obviously. You can fix the torque dip and improve acceleration by replacing the headers and giving it an appropriate tune easily with a cob tuner or something.

I would never buy one of these for anything above 25k. Coming from a NA miata, I have no problem with the 200hp, as im planning on doing the stupid fun stuff with the miata anyways, it will more or less stay stock. the BRZ in question is going for 18k at the dealership, but since there is no real warranty on it, I wanted to know if anything major happened with these.

Fuel pump has been weird on some but I think it's covered by recalls. Stock taillights aren't sealed well but you can DIY fix that.

Is it better than a Subaru? I'm growing fond of them

No. You're going to spend more than that putting in the cage and safety equipment. There's a lot of stuff you can do to the car that's exempt from your $500 (like safety stuff) and also bribing the judges at inspection is encouraged.
When I ran we brought bottles of booze for the judges.
If the judges think your car is too expensive or nice or fast they will penalize you by moving you to a faster class or adding penalty laps (you start the race on lap -30, example)
Fun as fuck but not something to take seriously in the competitive sense, it's all bullshit. WRL is a much better cheap-ish endurance series for relative amateurs.

It's a real wheel to wheel racing series that will accept first timers with no experience or licenses so it's pretty unique in that regard. WRL is cracking down on compete novices this season.
LeMons is a ton of fun win or lose but do what I did and just buy a drive with a team.
