Hey /o/, i have a question that i can't seem to google.
I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4x4 (never use it stays in 2hi) and i replaced the ujoint on the front drive shaft. Now im getting terrible vibrations while at ~44mph.
Some guy said i could just keep it in 2hi and completely remove the front shaft and be A ok for city driving. Is that true? If i did that how do i protect the spline where the shaft goes into the tcase?

Mechanic here, take this hot opinion for what it's worth.
Usually you want to do U-joints in pairs; at least, that's what I normally do when one comes in. Either that, or it's possible that the straps for the U-joints are toast. My bet is that the straps are toast, or not torqued down to spec. If it wasn't having vibration issues before, that is surely your bet. Did you grease the new joint after installing?
Also, the other person was right in saying you can remove the front DS and run it in 2HI. Buddy of mine had an old Jeep that I pulled the front one out of because he bent the shit out of it driving over a stump.

Alright gents. Got a predicament here.
I have an 86 GTI (pic related) and I'm trying to sell it, but i'm having trouble because it's not in 100% driving shape.
It idles rough and chokes itself out before revving back up. Eventually it stalls.
Feathering the gas prevents it from stalling, but without throttle, 9/10 times the rpm just drop to zero and the car dies.
I cleaned the air filter and i'm going to clean the MAF because it hesitates when i give it throttle which usually leads to it turning off.
I know that's not the main issue though. What could this be? I've read vacuum leak, boost leak, bad fuel pump, blow off valve issues, etc.
It's a track car build. It has a 2.0 swap from a 95 Jetta, a turbo, aftermarket bov, etc.

Some of the clips that guy used are insanely crisp. I have never, ever seen footage from 90s F1 in that quality. It has to be HD captures of film footage, I don't think remastered broadcast master tapes can look that good. Does anybody know what the source is?

i fucked up /o/. need some emergency advise
i was doing some simple shit on my '87 volvo 240. changing oil + filter and sparkplugs.. somehow both went wrong
the oil filter is really really stuck but i don't have the appropriate tools so i hope to get it unstuck tomorrow
that goddamn sparkplug closest to the firewall tho.. it didn't came out as easily as it should and when scewing in a new one it kindof went in at an angle. probably crossed threads. now i managed to 'fix' it by gently re-threading the hole with the sparkplug but it still won't go in completely and some metal shavings possibly entered the cylinder
i know i'll have to get the sparkplug hole machined soon but my biggest worry is those metal shavings.. i put a generous amount of wd-40 in the cylinder before starting it up, let it idle for a bit and then revved it a few times. would this be enough to discard that crap out of the cylinder or do i risk damage if i drive the car like this?
i'd love to hear how those of you who have had to deal with this shit managed to fix it

How do I make my 07 sonata v6 handle less like a boat? This car really has handling characteristics of cars from the 80s...

I have a hyundai tiburon 2006 that's been sitting in my driveway for well over a year now, if not 2.
Got a bit of a situation here. Family member bought the car for about $4K. They didn't check title or loans. Turns out the guy she bought it from, bought it from some shit bag who's now in jail for beating his girlfriend. The title is still on the original owner along with a loan for like $15K. Guy refused to release the loan which means it couldn't be registered or some shit. Is there something with the dmv (California) I can file to make my self the owner?
