>St. Ansgar, IA (KIMT) - If you drive a car, chances are you've seen signs for deer crossings. But there are new signs in northern Iowa that are creating a controversy.
>The sign clearly has a silhouette of a jumping deer with the words "suicidal deer."
>Sally Hertel lives near the sign, and says there's a need to warn drivers to be on the lookout.
>But she believes the wording of this particular signs crosses a line.
>"Suicide? That makes it look like a joke. I myself have never had anybody close to me decide to take their own life, but I've had a lot of friends and other people who have, and I know it's a very sensitive subject. I think it's kind of a mockery."
>The Mitchell County Board of Supervisors approved the sign, and say causing controversy was not the intention.
>"We happen to see one that was put up in Illinois and we thought it might be an effective way to remind people that there are a lot of deer in the area," says Stan Walk , the county supervisor.

MERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE—Modern Melanesians harbor genetic components passed on from Denisovans, a new study* suggests. In the past, ancestors of many modern human populations interbred with other hominin species that have since become extinct, such as the Neandertals and Denisovans. Mapping the gene flow of surviving genetic sequences from these species, as well as other species of hominin, helps shed light on how past interbreeding has affected human evolution. While previous studies have documented Neandertal gene flow in modern humans, much less is known about the characteristics of Denisovan DNA that persist in humans today. To gain more insights, Benjamin Vernot et al.* analyzed the genomes of 1,523 individuals from around the world, including 35 individuals from Northern Island Melanesia, in Papua New Guinea. Their results showed that while all non-African populations surveyed inherited roughly 1.5-4% of their genomes from Neandertals, Melanesians were the only population that also had significant Denisovan genetic ancestry, representing between 1.9% and 3.4% of their genome. The researchers then mapped out the genetic flow of Neandertal and Denisovan sequences, finding that Neandertal admixture, or gene flow, occurred at least three distinct times in human history. In contrast, Denisovan admixture likely only occurred once. Further analysis revealed that certain regions of the modern human genome are particularly depleted of these archaic lineages, including those that play a role in the developing cortex and adult striatum. These findings provide new insights into human evolution and gene flow.

Your music is your means of promotion in the music industry today.
Merch and shows are what will make the bulk of your earnings as a musician.

If anything, streaming services are promoting artists even further through the convenience of browsing their catalog.
Having a shirt of your favorite artist and paying a ticket to see them has a bigger financial impact on them then just an albulm sale that they'll most likely make $2 if they're signed with a bigger label.

>Belgian authorities said a police sniper shot and killed the suspect, 35-year-old Mohamed Belkaid, an Algerian national who was in Belgium illegally and hadn’t been monitored as an extremist threat.

>French and Belgian police have been conducting joint raids in their investigation into the Paris attacks, in which 130 people were killed within a few hours in several locations with assault rifles and suicide bombs. Investigators have said the attacks were plotted in Syria and Belgium.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is done with politics – at least for now.

The former presidential candidate and once-rising star in the Republican Party, who quit the race after losing his home state’s primary on Tuesday night, told reporters on Capitol Hill on Thursday that he is not looking to remain a member of Congress. “I’m not running for re-election to the Senate,” he said. “I’m going to finish out my term here.”
Florida bars candidates from running for two offices at once, and Mr. Rubio in starting his presidential campaign was effectively giving up his Senate seat. But the official registration deadline in Florida isn’t until June 24, allowing Mr. Rubio an opening into the race.

The race for his seat is already crowded, with six contenders who have raised more than $13 million total. Mr. Rubio’s spotty attendance record in the Senate was an issue in the presidential campaign, and could have resurfaced in a re-election bid.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mr. Rubio showed no interest in staying on the campaign trail, either. Asked whether he would consider being Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s vice presidential running mate, were he to clinch the nomination, Mr. Rubio responded, “I’m not going to be anybody’s vice president. I’m not interested in being vice president.” He also said he was not planning to run for governor of Florida. Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, is term-limited and cannot run for re-election in 2018.

>The charge against Collins stems from the investigation into the leaks of photographs of numerous female celebrities in September 2014 known as “Celebgate.” However, investigators have not uncovered any evidence linking Collins to the actual leaks or that Collins shared or uploaded the information he obtained.

>Many of Collins’ victims were members of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. By illegally accessing the e-mail accounts, Collins accessed at least 50 iCloud accounts and 72 Gmail accounts, most of which belonged to female celebrities.

>“By illegally accessing intimate details of his victims' personal lives, Mr. Collins violated their privacy and left many to contend with lasting emotional distress, embarrassment and feelings of insecurity,” said David Bowdich, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. “We continue to see both celebrities and victims from all walks of life suffer the consequences of this crime and strongly encourage users of Internet-connected devices to strengthen passwords and to be skeptical when replying to emails asking for personal information.”

>The case against Collins is the product of an ongoing investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Turnouts_000.jpg

It's becoming increasingly obvious to myself that voter turnout will play a massive role in November. Firstly there's California, who has their GOP Primary on June 7th. Trump and Cruz are tied. Looking back at 2002, one of the reasons Arnold Schwarzenegger (CA Governor 2002-10) won both the primary and general was because of higher than average voter turnout.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-california-primary-20160316-story.html

Now, looking at the general, the question is if liberals will turnout for Hilary and if conservatives would turnout for Trump or Cruz.

>In the same question-and-answer session here, Boehner referred to Ted Cruz as "lucifer." He previously called the Texas senator, who led the failed Republican effort to shut down the government over Obamacare, a “jackass.”
More like Ted Cruz BTFO if you ask me. The fact that Boehner won't support either a sitting senator or the frontrunner from his own party is unprecedented in modern times.

So I take it you're a Trump fan against the idea of a contested convention, OP? It seems to me they're trying to do to Trump something similar to what they did to Ron Paul in 2012. Although this time they've fixed the rules at the state level to not allow non-approved party delegates to be sent to the convention because of the way Ron Paul's people tried to game the system last time.
>>
>>29342
Well, first of all, I thought Boenher stepped down? Why does he have any say at all?! Also, nothing is unprecedented - just rare, maybe. I'm also not a Trump-fan, I just don't like the idea of them popping anybody in who wasn't elected. I don't even know why they're talking about brokered convention candidates this early - Trump is still only half way from winning the delegate contest, anyway.
>>
>>29346
>nothing is unprecedented
No really, this level of chicanery hasn't ever happened because party conventions aren't that old. They only go back to the turn of the last century.
>I don't even know why they're talking about brokered convention candidates this early -
It wouldn't be a true brokered convention, but an open one.

It's mathematically impossible for John Kasich to get the nomination without one. So why does he stay in? Because he's counting on either Rubio's or Cruz's delegates to be awarded to him by Reince Priebus doing "Yea-or-Nay" votes on the second and third ballot and saying "The ayes have it!" no matter how many affirmative votes were actually expressed.

The old guard neocon Anti-trump faction in the GOP today is supposed to have a planning meeting tomorrow to figure out their strategy.
http://www.providencejournal.com/news/20160316/trump-gop-leaders-should-embrace-fervor-for-his-candidacy

They only have hope as long as everybody else who isn't Trump has more combined delegates than Trump. Once Trump goes over the number of delegates where all the others combined can't add up to what he has then it's over and he won the nomination. That hasn't happened yet though and it's looking increasingly like it isn't going to until the convention (if he can somehow get one of the other candidates with delegates to pledge for him) if ever.

As they said in OPs second link:
>"The rules haven't kept up," Haugland said. "The rules are still designed to have a political party choose its nominee at a convention. That's just the way it is. I can't help it. Don't hate me because I love the rules."

>also a former chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party, told "Squawk Box" in the same interview that he's concerned about party officials pulling "some shenanigan."

>"You have groups of people who are going to try to take over the rules committee," he warned. "[That] could totally change everything, and mess things up with the delegates.

Is US going to do anything about the life of this student?
