Dude, headsets aren't that expensive. You could get a Dura-Ace brand new for a hundred and change.

I really like the David Clarks. Mostly because I see everyone else wearing them. Are the over rated?

I would take Chris King over all others, given the choice. If you can up your budget a little, you could even get the titanium version.

Do drone blimps use hydrogen or helium?
It seems unlogical to me to use helium in drone blimps since they are unmanned
>>
>>897711
No blimps, derigibles or other forms of airship use hydrogen in the modern day, too many fireballs

Such a serious (public) fixation or obsession on the LZ129 disaster....Heavier-than-air passenger disasters are usually way worse than Hindenburg where 2/3 of people onboard survived...-Only about 35 people died. It's not unusual for heavier-than-air crash fatalities to be many times that..-no one walks away

I think commercial passenger airships today would have a small but very viable niche. People like to cruise, sightsee, etc.. It would fit in with passenger train and the ocean cruise type consumers. And would probably be popular in that niche, since cruise tours could go overland to observe wilderness and wildlife and such.. In fact, it might be advantageous, if not lucrative, for existing ocean cruise line operations to incorporate airship cruising into their cruise business.

Vacuum airships are the future. Right now the materials science isn't there, but it soon will be. And vacuum is neither flammable nor in short supply. An intermediate step might be low-pressure helium. No reason the helium has to be at exactly 101 kPa, right? I suspect that the materials are able to handle 50 kPa right now. And soon, 25 kPa and, after that, 10.

It's fucking awesome they are making it in the middle of the desert. I mean like, there's no nature that could be harmed there, it's like a dead place anyway so might as well industrialize it.

>outside Sparks, Nevada

lol, Musk is really fucking with California by doing this. His existing factory is in wonderful Fremont.

In Spain you literally turn up to Madrid airport and get on the next flight to Barcelona for a reasonable price. Why can't we have this in UK-France?

Why can't one of these regional airports like greenford or the one by Maidenhead (soon to be on the tube) have an hourly continual departure to a counterpart ex-military/private run down airport for a cheap price? I'll tell you why. Joos.

If you're an American, its an eye-opening experience to use and airline that actually knows customer service. Hottest flight attendants, always smiling & will actually serve you real food. Onboard movies you don't have to buy. Only real downside I've had with Emirates is that upgrades are insanely expensive. Airport at Dubai is good & bad...too large & may have to go through multiple security screenings for no apparent reason...but awesome food courts, free wifi & a real, no-shit shopping mall inside. You'll swear off US carriers forever.

Then there was my last flight with them. There was some Pakistani (?) family new to the ways of 19th-century culture & technology. No one spoke their brand of moon-speak, so flight attendants had a hard time with the toilet training. Dad stood in front guarding the bathroom while his wife & daughters did #2 with the door wide-fucking open. Fortunately, thats the exception, but damn. Pic related...squatty potty at the Dubai airport (half of them are western style).

>I flew my first international flight on emirates once and it was epic!!!! LMAO!!!

put your fedora away, this is not something unique to emirates. many major asian carriers have attractive cabin crew and good cabin service.

there are also some really terrible non-US carriers out there, that will make the service on an american carrier seem posh in comparison.

Flying is supposed to be the safest form of transportation.

Has there ever been a study that compared the safety record of airplanes in general to crashes at airshows?

Seems like this shit happens constantly.

I've been to 2 airshows in my life and at one a aerobatic bi-plane crashed into a skydiver which killed the parachuter and took the wing off the airplane.

Why do they allow these moronic crashfests?

I thought the whole point of going to an air show was the possibility of seeing fireballs of the unplanned variety

People go to airshows because they like to watch dangerous events. Would people go to a NASCAR race if the cars went around at 60 mph with no accidents? Would folks attend the circus if there was only clowns and elephants?

flaws of this according to thread are not so accurate readings in gravel. as the default roling resistance is set to ashphalt.

you can set the rolling resist to whatever in the software however. but wont'recognise during rides. Not a problem if you ride road which I do 99% of the time.

Other than that it is pretty accurate and follows the other power meter brands closely when compared side to side.

So /n/, I have this old Raleigh Clubman that has been my trusty steed for the last 5 years (pic not mine but same bike).

However there's problems with it. The brakes are pretty terrible by now - yes I should probably get new pads but I just generally vintage, non-dual-pivot brakes are a piece of shit. Also I'm pretty sure the quill stem is frozen (corroded) because it won't come out, and it's slightly out of alignment, which pisses me off.

Should I just sell this bike and get a new bike? What do you think? Especially regarding the brakes, are old brakes ever really "good" when they have new brake pads, or should I try and get a bike that will work with dual-pivot brakes?

>>
rim brakes are pretty much pointless these days
buy a new bike with discs and be done with it
I did and I think it's unbelievable what kind of shit I used to put up with
discs adjust themselves, all you really have to worry about is new pads every now and then, and if you crash you have to true the disc (easy peasy)
some guys sperg about noise and autistically cleaning the rotors, but IDGAF, I just want to stop
>>
>>901111

Hm, I wasn't thinking of a disc brake bike because that would be quite expensive... if I do get a new bike then I guess I could get something second hand, or I was thinking maybe splash out, get a cheap new road bike from Wiggle for £300 / £350 which would be perfectly serviceable.

Obviously I know disc brakes are way better but yeah. Unless I can find a good deal on a second hand road bike with disc brakes (seems unlikely since disc brakes are only just hitting mass market road bikes really) then probably a no-go.

I think a couple companies sell dual-pivots that will work with non-recessed nut mounting. Otherwise, look for a pair of 610 centerpulls from Dia-Compe or (vintage) Weinmann. Consult with LBS re. stuck quill.

Don't listen to him. Just put the thing on the other thing.

So I just got my second flat tire (in less than 300km) and I don't feel really at ease under the rain with my sammy slicks.
I want to invest in an "urban" set of tire, something that would still let me go fast, but would be resistant and offer good grip under the rain.

Are the Schwalbe marathon plus the go to?
The michelin protek urban are significantly cheaper, lighter and supposedly have excellent grip under the rain.
Anything else I should look at (I'm fitting 700x35 btw)?

Also, I didn't have time to buy a new tube, so I used a 25-32 for my 35, seems to hold just fine for now, is it a bad idea?

Just see how your tires go. Two flats in that time span is not that bad just fix your flats.

Nigga I literally just biked through a flood on my slicks, those minuscule grooves in "urban" tires don't grip shit in shit.
