You're stupid

Why are all highway engineers autistic? Whenever I talk to them, they refuse to budge from their support of the Interstate Highway Act and their "code of ethics".

They will do anything to build their highways, since destroying cities to build more highways is apparently a good idea in their vision as long as the traffic flows.

there's an urban planner that lives on the next block from me and every time I talk to her (which I avoid at this point) it's like I'm talking to Temple Grandin

its like all of them are autistic, urban planners, engineers, every transit degree
>>
>>894613
ya, well, that seems to be their niche in society. that and computers. but it makes sense. they aren't going to have any interest in, say, public relations or retail etc. they want rules and order. IRL trainsets.

Can we have a computer thread?

I'm not sure if I should get a cheapo $10 computer or spring for a Garmin 25

I hate the complicated navigation kind that's the size of a phablet, and I use my phone for map history anyway, but the G25 looks pretty kawaii in addition to the fact that the Garmin Connect thing looks potentially interesting for personal non-attention whoring use.

OTOH all I really care about while I'm actually on my bike is knowing exactly how fast I'm going. I think. Anyway I'm not going to strava.

What should I do, /n/?

Also post your computers.

Even the cheapest BC shaped object will do that. Get some cheap Sigma if available.

Get the CatEye one with the speed & cadence sensor that's wireless. Good budget computer with no crumby wire to route to the bars.

Having a good front light really helps, though make sure you point it to the ground, making sure you don't blind other people if it's something like an mtb light.

You'll be fine, have fun, post pic of bike at night with lights on

But it does have front suspension! lol

Cannondale catalogs are readily available online, I'm not going to go hunting for your specific model but you can likely find it in years 1992-1995. Market value is minimal, look what the cheapest working bike goes for in your market and that's what I'd expect it to sell for - it's not a desireable bike nor are there any nice parts worth transplanting to a better frame.

Brunel and a load of other engineers already beat him to the punch.

It's kinda sad that the media praised Musk for thinking up something that has already been extensively researched by engineers since the late 19th century but I guess you can't expect much from the "quick&dumb" media cycle.

Guys... this is an 89 motobecane i resprayed. Im wondering about shifters. Since i already upped the wheels to shimano r500s im not really stuck on keeping it original. It came with a set of 2x6 braze ons but friction so could work with the 2x8 im upping it to. Or i got a set of damn near perfect rsx stis i could smack on there.

Ignore the fork. Im getting it threaded and cut tomorrow.

I guess my real question is what would you do?
>>
Why use the RSX STIs of course
>>
there's no braze on mounts, i mean you can use a problem solvers band or something, but it's not gonna be that clean, so STIs.

If it had braze on mounts, Tiagra 8 speed indexed downtube are very cheap on crc, so that would be the alternative imo. Also shimergo if you want to drop some cash.

Get some decals too solid white/ black is boring as fuck.

Why can't these go in /bqg/?
>>
Well, since this thread is already here, anyone have experience with Seat-post bags? Not saddle bags, I am looking for something larger, and for touring, on a road bike.
I just want to get rid of anything on my back, as going up and down 3000m over 150km distance with a backpack wasn't the most pleasant experience in 35°C.
I already have a handlebar bag, which held about 3kg. The backpack was about 5kg. I could evenly distribute it to make it 4-4kg back and front.
Panniers aren't really an option, because rear wheels on a road bike are kinda closer to the seat-tube and my feet on the pedals would constantly bump into them. Unless there is some weird set-up I do not know of yet.

I was looking at the medium size bag that Ortlieb offers, but it seems to be a bit overpriced. Any input on them or others?

Hey /n/ I want to start riding a bike to work so that I can lose some weight and save money on gas. I do not own a bike and I haven't owned one since I was 12. I would like some suggestions on some good brands and what the best material ,tyres, etc. for commuting to work. My route that I have planned is 4 miles with kind of crappy roads and a few railroad crossing if that helps. I just want something that will be reliable and not cost over $500.

What do my fellow pla/n/efags think of the Chinese Comac C919? They've sold 517 already - almost all to state-owned carriers.

Do you think it will make any impact on the Boeing/Airbus duopoly, or will it just turn out to be a wretched, unreliable piece-of-shit, like everything else made in China?

It's hard to make any sort of assessment without official performance statistics and a track record for the manufacturer, but if China's aviation industry at large's track record is anything to go by it's probably not going to have much international success, just by reputation alone.
