So I think I want to get into vinyl collecting as a hobby, but I have no idea how to shop for record players and such. What do I need and what can you recommend?
Also why are Crosleys shit? I've seen that around here a few times but never bothered to ask
I use an Audio Technica LP-60, it's a pretty nice entry level record player. They'll probably have it at a local record shop or you can get it online for cheaper/more. Also Crosley's are shit if as these records players are about the cost of 2-3 records alone, its not gonna perform as well as an audio technica will.

Thank you so much, anything I should know about building a set up or something?
>>68987712
Not that guy, but you should check if the turntable has a preamp yet because if not you'll have to get a separate one. I'm pretty sure they do though I remember researching them. Get yourself a good pair of speakers, you know around £60-£80 (not sure of exchange rate sorry) and you should be all right. It's best to keep your first set-up kinda minimum and around £200 is a good price for the turntable and speakers, it's what I paid and my set up works out pretty well.
Crosleys are fucking awful because they're built like shit and therefore sound like shit. They can also scratch up your records and they just really overblown in price. I use a Sony LX-300USB and it serves pretty well. You can get most stuff off-line but if you have a local independent shop that does record players then pay them a visit.
Also sort some proper storage space, a shelf will do but records are kinda weak and you want to stack them horizontally like books, not on top of each other.

So I really need music that is emotional and/or about revival and bringing back to life/from the dead kind of thing. I it can involve love or somewhere among the emotional equivalent, I would be happy.
I have a reward of making a separate post of my personal collection of music, and if it goes well, I might even provide links or make a playlist on YouTube, and probably suggest a free music app that is data efficient. Bump as much as you have to.
Here I a list of the related songs I have. Consider it an up front taste of the reward.
And I am asking for such because I am writing a book that has to do with a character that is being constantly revived so she can live a full life and have the chance to love someone truly. Since she was created as a "Frankenstein" ish kind of creature, any music related to this is also much appreciated!
Happy posting!

weak bait or intellectual affliction? I'm having a hard time figuring it out. You're definitely 16 at the oldest, though, so you should leave regardless.

so it's cool to hate the government again. every single fucking musician on the planet is going to be writing a song about trump.
fantano was saying that trump is like a pile of shit- and when you try to smash him with music, you end up getting some shit spattered on you, and the shit will still be there.
i haven't heard a single good protest song yet. i mean, politics aside, they all seem so kitschy. what do you guys think?
clarifying: i haven't heard a single good protest song yet **from 2016***
>>68985682
The really cool people hate both far right governments and neoliberal governments
>>68985682
They will only be good if they move away from "omg what a racist smhtbhfam" into actual criticism of his policies and actions in government
Musicians of /mu/, who are your most influential bands/artists for you? For me it's mostly Sonic Youth, Pixies, Swans, and The Fall (or most post-punk for that matter).
