Browse the folders linked below. It's easier for us to then rec you stuff if you have an idea of what you already like.
>I'm ~20 years old and I want to become a concert soloist. If I practice really hard, will I make it?
Almost certainly not. However you can still become a very accomplished performer with enough practice and if it makes you happy, then go for it.

No, but it won't harm your listening experience if you do.

How can a band that sucks so hard make an album so good?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Every album they made with Frusciante was good. Frusciante + Flea had the best chemistry, they both are very talented.

Personally I think By the Way is also god-tier, Californication is great and Stadium Arcadium and Mother's Milk are good.

You shouldn't go out saying that they suck just like that m8
>>
>>69560732
Californication and stadium arcadium are self parody tier bad m8. It's damn near satire because of kiedis
>>
>>69560752
Do you at least like Wet Sand off Stadium Arcadium?

I noticed that music didn't actually start getting good until the late 80s. Why is this?

The other night I was at a concert (Union Transfer seeing MO) and in between the opener and the main act they were playing a song through the speakers that I'm trying hard to identify. I tried recording it on my phone, but it didn't pick it up because it was playing too low and the crowd talking drowned it out.

It was a really slow, mellow song. Just a female voice, not singing any words I don't think, sing-humming a high-ish melody to a simple, slow, prodding bass heavy beat in the background. (There may have been some other sounds but they were faint.) It sounded new-ish but I can't be sure. But it sounded really heavenly/cathartic/pretty.

Any idea who this could be or what song it is?

He's never been fucking good. Every criticism of Cole could also be said for Soul. He comes off as some dude that really tries hard to come off as smart, and then two seconds later, you realize he's just saying stupid shit.
>>
>>69559713
Couldn't have said it better myself

After the first song I was like oh my God amazing
2nd song I was like ok still pretty good
3rd I was like ok not bad

Then it just nosedived into oblivion and I couldn't even see the surface
>>
>>69559892
Except he has been good.
I take that back, he IS good.

His lyrics are top notch when he isn't talking TOO MUCH about muh ancient egyptian references and muh occult references.

This album just came off as outright pretentious to me.
His lyrics are stupid and embarassing to listen to, he tries to sound clever, and although he has other pseudointellectuals fooled, he doesn't fool me.
His lines are bland, I'm pretty sure he recycled some lines at least in three different songs.
His flow on this was garbage too.

The only thing decent about this was some of the production.

He can never top Control System and he knows it.
