In terms of Guitarist Steve Vai is the greatest that has ever lived, Here is my reasoning
Technicality
No one apart from maaaybe Tosin Abasi can fuck with Steve Vai in the realm of technical ability to play. This isn't everything when it comes to guitar but it is a big factor in how intriquet and unique the playing can be and Steve Vai achieved a level that only a handful of people ever have.
Artistry
A lot of people see Steve Vai as a prototypical Shredder and that he is the kind of guy who just strings fast scales together to sound impressive. Although he can and does play absurdly fast you would be remiss to slag him off as some run of the mill shredder. This is a man who played with Frank Zappa and infuses his playing with as much artistic flare as anything else. His playing is emotional and evocative and extremely lyrical. He never loses sight that his music is art and he also never shys away from exploring experimental extremely weird ideas and themes in his playing as well.
He is the epitome of a Virtuoso and imho the greatest guitarist that has ever lived.
He is also a huge fucking wanker douche nozzle with the fans blowing his hair back and the orgasming faces and all that shit but I give him a pass because he is literally the best there is.
I feel like I'm going to get shat on hard for this opinion but fuck it.
>>70713111
I like Steve but Guthrie Govan and Allan Holdsworth mop the floor with him.
>>70713216
And I mean't that as in they use Vai as the mop, not that they all mop together...ahh fuck it.
There's not such thing as the greatest guitar player ever, after the top 20 you just can't compare one another, they all have different styles and techniques. And man, technique isn't everything, there are guitarrists that are way more creative than Vai yet they don't necessarily showcase a flawless technique.
Just my silly personal opinion tho
Come on guys, let's be real. 80s Metallica is pretty kickass
Yep
Nobody ever denied that.
I'll take the opportunity to agree with you before all the contrarians swarm this thread like flies to a carcass
What the fuck is his problem?
>>70712959

>drinks Diet Coke
>cheap mic
>fat and stupid
Gee.
He can't last forever, he's going to be 75 this summer. How are you preparing for the inevitable?
I don't know how I'm going to handle it.
I saw him live last year, still putting on a good show and singing with his band, he definitely has a bit of life in him still.
I'm going to be so devastated. I try to avoid thinking about it. Ringo too.
Just think, there will be no living Beatles in our lifetime.
>>70712934
>almost 75 years old
>still playing shows
hell be fine
Is there such thing as new music? Or is it just old sounds in a different fashion?
>>70712844
Old sounds, different fashion.
D E A T H G R I P S
It's just the same notes over and over again, really. Some people like to say that these waves vibrating through the air are art, but they are just deluded people trying to put a meaning to the dopamine flowing in their brains. Music should be just a stimulant to make people shake and fuck and after that go to work in something meaningfull like math or chemistry.
How does /mu/ feel about Anthony Fantano?
Music reviews are irrelevant.
dubs and /mu/ never speaks about him again.

>>70712479
" AYY LMAO "
out loud
Shove him to the ground, steal his skateboard, smash him in the face with it, not hard enough to seriously hurt him but to make him lose a few teeth and get a busted nose/lip. Probably put the cigarette out on his face, followed by one final kick to the ribs as I effortlessly glide away from the police.
why is the singer of smash mouth on scaruffi's best vocalists of all time list?
i dont know but he looks like Guy Ferraro and his voice is nothinh special
Sorry dude I don't know
Maybe I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed
Not liking smash mouth? It doesn't make sense not to live for fun

What is objectively the best Björk song? I would say Pagan Poetry.
>>70712387
Pagan Poetry is number 2, number one for me is Oceania.
>>70712387
>objectively
Fuck sakes....
But anyway my favorite is Harm of Will. The orchestra and the asian influence is absolutely fantastic and the entire reason Vespertine clicked with me so much...

Hyperballad, Pagan Poetry is a close second.
