They are becoming less and less prevalent in popular music. Is the guitar a dying instrument?

depends on what you like to listen to
>>72690275
I'm talking about popular mainstream music.
guilty pleasure: i fucking LOVE lo-fi, depressing bedroom pop like teen suicide and elvis depressedly. can't get enough of it. could anyone give me some reqs based off this? wouldn't be opposed to electronic music either.

Grunge isn't a legitimate genre and the term was only created for marketing reasons. Can you honestly say Sound Garden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam have a similar sound?
is this bait? grunge isn't a genre, it's a subgenre of rock. all those bands sound exactly the same though
>>72690113
I agree
Same with Britpop
grunge sucks. little creativity
Pic unrelated
I think From Under The Cork Tree is a great album
>unpopular opinion
Don't you mean Folie a deux is the best album desu
The Black Parade, Pretty Odd and pre breakup Fall Out Boy are pretty good.
Convince me otherwise with sound arguments
I like Spotify
what do you guys think is the most FUN album ever?
(well, remove Straight To Video and maybe What Do They Know and it'd fit the bill)
The one you like to listen the most
Or are you one of those who think that music needs to be catchy pop garbage to be fun?
Define "fun"
E MO TION
holy shit this is amazing

>le meme jap rap crap
welcome to /mu/, friend.
>>72689970
yep. this is better though.
Ipod classic recently broke, any recs on a mp3 player that has good battery life and a shit ton of space? Thanks in advance.
You're phone
>>72689979
I am not a phone. Joking aside, the ipod classic has a capacity of 160gb, I want something solely for music.
>>72690053
you are phone.
I'm looking for rap songs with really dirty and evil sounding bass beats. Like you're cruising through the most ghetto neighborhood in LA at night.
Here's my list so far.
Tyler The Creator - Yonkers
Death Grips - No Love
Big Pun - Twinz (Deep cover)
XXXTentacion - ImSippinTeaInYoHood
Earl Sweatshirt - Chum
Open to all suggestions!
Danger Zone by Big L comes to mind
Wale - My PYT

>Danger Zone by Big L
mmf. Really like this one. If you got more let me know
why brazilian music is always so cheery and happy?
I always feel so light hearing it

>aren't even from 1975
I'm 1975 years old. AMA.
>>72689701
Was Jesus a hoax
>>72689701
how old are you
Like every (except for Illmatic) hip hop album I listened, this would be way better without a lot of the songs. Way too long.
What are the weak songs to you?
I listened to this album recently too. It was alright.
making short rap albums is an underrated skill and now that streaming counts toward charts we're going to see a lot of overstuffed albums to try and max out play counts.
pic related, someone who gets concise rap albums.
>>72689526
Machine Gun Funk, the interlude, Respect and Unbelievable.
I mean, most hip hop songs have more songs that I'd cut out than this, but still.
When did you grow up and realize you're not too good for pop music, /mu/?
A few years ago, but I'm still too good for her
i am too good for pop music and always will be
it's approved music made only to bring in money from the stupid plebeians who listen to it. It has no emotion, it's stone cold and just plain shitty.
fuck off

This but without the irony.

Which do you think is the better David Bowie album? Ziggy Stardust or Scary Monsters
Scary Monsters has better standout tracks but Ziggy Stardust is more cohesive as a full album
Aladdin Sane is better than both
Ziggy stardust is probably my favourite bowie album. The title track is up there with my favourite bowie songs as well.
>>72689283
Scary Monsters between the two.
Nothing on Ziggy tops Teenage Wildlife.

What record player do vinyl fags recommend? I'm new to this and thinking about getting one. Pic related.
that one is fine

if all you want to do is play records and don't need to be a fuckin elitist than anything besides a crosley will do the trick
>>72689582
I don't wanna be an elitist, but I want an experience that'll make spending all this money kind of worth it.
