Hey thanks m8.
I see lots of those are compilations. Not exactly what I was looking for but thanks a bunch. 2, 6, 7 and 9 I already knew.
In any case, really interested in those Willie Colón albums (I also found Siembra).

>Not exactly what I was looking for
Why? Some artists are just very old, so their good stuff can only be found on compilations/box sets.
>express an opinion
>they think i'm baiting
well back your opinion up or cry about it more
>express an opinion
>it is pol-tier argument
You deserved it cunt

who's a good boy? who's a good boy??
Hey /mu/, starting this discussion out of genuine curiosity.
I'm a Christian who attends a modern church where there is a contemporary band which I play bass, keys and sometimes guitar on, as part of this I have to listen to and learn various modern Christian "worship" pieces.
For years I've usually just found the music to be bland, lowest common denominator tripe and stuck to listening to other music in my own time.
However over the past year or so I've found myself appreciating a number of CCM songs and even being emotionally moved by others.
Have I just become so used to it that it's become palatable? or would /mu/, irregardless of belief, agree that there are some redeeming features hidden amongst the bulk of the genre.
seems like you got brainwashed

There's good Christian music, but almost none of it is within the incestuous little CCM bubble. CCM exists to replicate whatever is hot on the top 100 chart with lyrics palatable to Christian moral sensibilities. Nothing more.
- Former church kid raised on CCM and contemporary worship music at a large mega-church (~4,000 congregants) were I ran FOH sound and video.

I would argue that that isn't the case, as my beliefs haven't changed much and my placement on the band has been almost 7 years.
You could however be right.
I'm talking about from a purely musical standpoint, though before i receive an influx of similar comments.
Grimes
Robert Allen Zimmerman

Why are gingers so terrible at music?
that's racist
>>74167135
How?
>sends personal emails to streaming services demanding they remove King Crimson songs
>says he hates the guitar and finds it a boring instrument
>insists on sitting on a stool during concerts and gets offended when people ask him why he doesn't stand like everyone else
>hates light shows, special effects, or anything else distracting the audience from himself sitting on a stool
>will walk off the stage mid-song if he sees someone pointing a camera at him
>has gone on record gloating about confiscating cameras at his shows
>in 1974, right when King Crimson was poised to become bigger than Pink Floyd, announced that he hated touring and that the band was breaking up forever
>“When I read interviews with old King Crimson bandmates, they suggest that the difficulty lies with me,” he offers in his West Country lilt. “And I agree with that."
Is it autism?
>gets crimson songs removed from streaming services
So hes the asshole doing this. He can rot in hell tbqh.

>he ends up writing a letter to TPB
>Brian “Head” Welch faces backlash after describing the reported suicide of Chester Bennington as "cowardly."
>Welch wrote: “Honestly, Chester's an old friend who we've hung with many times, and I have friends who are extremely close to him, but this is truly pissing me off! How can these guys send this message to their kids and fans?! I'm sick of this suicide shit! I've battled depression/mental illness, and I'm trying to be sempethetic, but it's hard when you're pissed! Enough is enough! Giving up on your kids, fans, and life is the cowardly way out!!!”
Who was in the wrong here?
>born again Christian being a judgemental fuck

His music is fucking awful
Opinions on Red Hot Chili Peppers? Does /mu/ consider them dadrock?
>>74166890
more like shitrock
They were good up until Californication, at which point they became a stale low-energy inoffensive middle-of-the-road AOR radio rock band.
Yes, they're Dad Rock, but why is that a bad thing?
Uplift Mofo Party Plan is GOAT!
I'm going through an incredibly terrible time in my life currently. Constant panic attacks, and an extremely stressful and enraging situation have got me in a bad spot. I just kinda want my emotions to take me. Music for this feel? Just something violent to sulk by.

Whoa. Thanks for that gem. I should've clarified that I was looking for something in the noise and experimental rock repetoir, and you somehow read my mind. Perfect for how I feel. I'll definitely be checking out more Brethren. I don't necessarily enjoy the lyrics, because I interrupted it as being homophobic, and I'm a closet bisexual, but they fit perfectly to the noise below it. Hateful, detached and sexual, like the best kinds of music.
>>74166896
Also, would I be able to acquire a physical copy of some his works? I checked discogs and it isn't allowed for sale there.
I only started to "get jazz" recently from listening to Charles Mingus Ah-Um which someone suggested here. What's other good similar 'accessible' jazz albums, /mu/?
Literally the most famous jazz albums
>>74166735
Call me a pleb but A Garland of Red by Red Garland is easily my go-to jazz album for people new to the scene. If you've only just started to "get" the genre as a whole then it may be a step back into easy listening territory but who gives a shit, it's good.
That one with the sax nigga in b&w
Doesn't get more entrier levelier than that
